Yeardley Smith
Why isn't she the hugest super mega star of the universe? When did her career go down the crapper? What about her scandalous love life that included such partners as Warren Beatty, Linda Evangelista, and Dennis Rodman? And that was just one Tuesday afternoon.
Why doesn't Datalounge fall down on their knees and worship her?
Huh?
Huh?

She was great as Bonita Rokiki on "Mama's Family".
The episode aired in December 1986.

She could play Joseph Gordon Levitt's mother.
As for when her career went down the crapper, I'd say it was some time after her salary for the Simpson's jumped from $30K per episode (roughly the first 10 years x 23 episodes per season = 230 episodes * 30K = $6.9 million) to $125K per episode, but definitely by 2004 when it jumped to $250K per episode where it remained until 2008 when it jumped to $400K per episode.
Unfortunately, they've had to take a cut in 2015 to onoy $300K per episode, and to add insult to injury, they cut the number of episodes per season to 22.

She knew her limitations and once she lucked into the lisa Simpson gig she didn't press her luck and was fine to cash all those checks and stay out of the limelight.

R11 she was denied the Golden Globe and the Oscar for this masterpiece!
I'm 100% convinced the sound of a screaming Yeardley Smith could be use a terror device.

You’d think working on a show like The Simpsons would give you perspective enough that being in a cult like Scientology is fucking bonkers.
Sorry, I know this thread is about Yeardley not Nancy...

I read an interview with her last year in which she said she didn't really appreciate her success with The Simpsons for many years, because voice acting wasn't the career she'd originally wanted. She said she took a lot of pride in her role as Lisa nowadays.

She was Cynthia Nixon's stand-by in The Real Thing way back in 1983. When Cynthia left the show, Yeardley took over the part. I saw her then and she was terrific. Much more charismatic than Cynthia.
She's no great beauty, so I'm so pleased for her that she fell into the Simpson's gig.

If she hadn't gotten the Simpsons, she could easily have become a Margo Martindale, Beth Grant type

Martindale and Grant have a "regular woman" quality. Smith stands out because of her voice and looks. She's very unusual looking AND sounding.
