The headline is not misleading and it is true. White women benefited more because they were chosen over non whites, not because there are more of them.

Here’s an example of how white women and white men benefit from affirmative action. When I was in college I did an internship with the local Chamber of Commerce. I interned with the small business coordinator. She helped oversee a venture capital fund for minority businesses. White women would apply for loans for their husband’s businesses.
