In addition to her five marriages, Auntie Eva also had a number of female lovers, including Marlene Dietrich, so revealed Francesca.

I recemtly read this book. I'm not convinced Eva was bisexual. Just because she was friends with Marlene Dietrich and Tallulah Bankhead?

Suzanne Pleshette was Ava's best friend. I liked them both a lot, I hope they were girlfriends!

R1, Maybe you should read the book again. Zsa Zsa's daughter, Francesca, revealed to the author that Auntie Eva was a lesbian and it was well known within the family. Eva and Merv Griffin bearded for each other for years.

And is not something to feel sorry for someone over discovering.

How come nobody ever talks about Magda? She was the oldest sister but you never hear anything about her. No wig business. No slapping policeman in the face. No multiple marriages. Was she the good one in the family?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 7, 2019 4:36 PM |
The three sisters had an unbelievable twenty marriages between them. Mama Jolie was married three times.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 7, 2019 4:46 PM |
Magda and Zsa Zsa were both married to George Sanders. ZZ first, divorcing him after a few years of a miserable marriage. Then Magda married him 16 years later only to have the marriage annulled after 32 days of marriage.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 7, 2019 4:57 PM |
Surely "including Marlene Dietrich" is redundant, OP? If Eva was famous, of that era and taking female lovers, it's a cinch Marlene was one of them. That gal got around.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 7, 2019 5:09 PM |
R8, Magda was married six times and married well. When her fourth husband, Tony Gallucci, died of cancer in 1967, she inherited a fortune from his contracting business, one of the oldest the US. However, a year prior, she suffered a major brain injury after a fall, which left her partially paralyzed and unable to speak clearly. You didn't hear too much about Magda because she was never a Hollywood actress. She did a few films in her native Hungary, and made a few TV appearances alongside her famous sisters, but she never landed a studio contract or significant role.

R38, That was Eva's sister Magda in the wheelchair, not her mother Jolie. Magda was wheelchair bound after a stroke.
Jolie was so out of it by 98 in 1995 that she was never even informed that Eva had died.
Both Magda and Jolie died in 1997, months apart.

On Oct. 21, 1963, Eva Gabor replaced Vivien Leigh in the Broadway musical "Tovarich." The show closed two weeks later. Shortly after that, John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Eva later did "Tovarich" in summer stock.

Eva was always considered more of a legitimate actress than Zsa Zsa. In 1958, Eva appeared in "Gigi," which went on to win the Oscar as best picture. Meanwhile, also in 1958, Zsa Zsa was appearing in "The Queen of Outer Space. It was Eva, not Zsa Zsa, who had a hit comedy series. Plus, Eva appeared on the legitimate stage.

Eva also replaced Colleen Dewhurst in "You Can't Take It With You" on Broadway in 1984. She voiced characters for the Disney animated features "The Aristocats," "The Rescuers" and "The Rescuers Down Under."

R85, True, but Zsa Zsa did make her film debut in John Huston's Moulin Rouge in 1952, which received multiple Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.
Zsa Zsa also starred on Broadway in Forty Carats after Julie Harris left the show.
Eva may have had Marlene Dietrich, but it was Zsa Zsa who Greta Garbo was attracted to, resulting in a French kiss.

She was probably on guard because of Dave's tendency toward snarky remarks. I'm not sure what he could have known about her. Most show business insiders must have known that Merv was really just her walker, but that wouldn't have been talk show fodder in 1986.

I've watched all of Eva's interviews on YouTube. When she is interviewed by men she flirts shamelessly and talks about how much loves men. When interviewed by women she complains about how men all cheated on her and calls them "a pain in the neck" . Bitch can't make up her mind. Maybe she would have had better luck if she took her wig off during sex.

She should have dated Jeff Chandler. Or Marvin Gaye.

[quote]She should have dated Jeff Chandler.
Eva was very fashion-conscious and wouldn't date any man who wore polka dots when he was clearly too big for them.

Hmm. I have a crush on Jeff Chandler and Ester Williams. What a coincidence.

Ava Gina

R141. Sam Staggs wrote in his book that Eva once said that marriage was too interesting an experiment to be tried only once. I feel the same way about lesbian sex and lesbian relationships.

Is this thread dead?
by Anonymous | reply 155 | September 20, 2019 3:01 AM |
It seems that way, unless we hear from Tom Lester, the only surviving principal cast member of "Green Acres."

Was Eva just a 'pillow princess', who made Mary Grace Canfield do all the 'grunt work', as it were?

Mr Haney is still not living
by Anonymous | reply 158 | September 20, 2019 3:02 PM |
Hey! I'm still here! Don't forget me!
Say -- who's that guy with the big knife coming my way?
by Anonymous | reply 159 | September 20, 2019 5:09 PM |
R157. You might be on to something. I wonder about Eva's capacity for any kind of intimacy.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | September 21, 2019 1:30 AM |
They are so adorable, and their chemistry is just magic, in R106's clip. I loved her so very much.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | September 21, 2019 2:15 AM |
I've had a crush kn Eva for 50 years.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | September 21, 2019 3:13 AM |
Eva seemed like a sweet, kind and lovely person. I hate to think of her suffering in any way.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | September 21, 2019 6:25 PM |
Honestly I'd rather think of Eva licking pussy than sucking cock because that's just plain gross.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | September 21, 2019 8:50 PM |
No way Ava was a lesbian or bi. She was too square.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | September 22, 2019 3:21 AM |
R165, Times Square?
by Anonymous | reply 166 | September 22, 2019 7:08 AM |
r165 Did Eddie even know Ava Gardner?
by Anonymous | reply 167 | September 22, 2019 9:26 PM |
R167. I actually meant Eva not Ava.
Eva said on MatchGame that she did not like the word "suck". Ha ha
by Anonymous | reply 169 | September 23, 2019 12:40 PM |
Eva was a lady. The same cannot be said of Ava.
by Anonymous | reply 170 | September 23, 2019 2:07 PM |
Did Eva drive a Subaru?

Face like a monkey.

I just finished the book and was surprised Staggs didn't mention Zsa-Zsa and Jackie Kennedy's transatlantic flight sometime in the 1950's. I read somewhere that Jackie spent the whole flight - and this was when they were propeller planes, not jets, so it was all day - admiring Zsa-Zsa's skin and her flawless complexion from her seat across the aisle.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | September 24, 2019 3:32 AM |
R173. No! Eva was beautiful.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | September 24, 2019 3:49 AM |
R174. Check out R121. He left a lot if things out of the book.

Has anybody told RALPH ?
by Anonymous | reply 177 | September 24, 2019 2:08 PM |
Eva -Ava
Ava-Eva
Let's call the whole thing off.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | September 24, 2019 4:44 PM |
I love Eva. I wish she had outlived Zsa Zsa.
by Anonymous | reply 179 | September 24, 2019 8:11 PM |
I wish Sam Staggs had interviewed Eva's step kids from her marriage to Frank Jameison. I would love to know what they thought of her.
by Anonymous | reply 180 | September 25, 2019 11:28 PM |
I'm a horny lesbian and I love Eva.

A few years ago I bought Eva’s birthday card on eBay. It was sent to her by Suzanne Pleshette and Tina Sinatra. Suzanne signed it “Your Real Sister” and Tina signed it “Your kid sister”. At the bottom of the card they invite Eva to lunch. I thought it was cute.
by Anonymous | reply 182 | September 28, 2019 1:11 AM |
That doesn't speak well of Suzanne Pleshette. You don't shit talk your friend's family. You listen while they do it, but you don't engage in it yourself. Bad form.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | September 28, 2019 1:18 AM |
R182 here. I was slightly wrong. Tina says “Your rotten kid” rather than “your kid sister”
Hopefully the link works.
by Anonymous | reply 184 | September 28, 2019 1:23 AM |
R182, Who was selling it?
by Anonymous | reply 185 | September 28, 2019 3:09 PM |
R182. That is cute. I'm glad she had such nice friends.
by Anonymous | reply 186 | September 28, 2019 6:45 PM |
In a 1995 interview with Roger Ailles Eva said she had been to a psychiatrist on and off for 10 years. I wonder if she was struggling with her sexuality?
by Anonymous | reply 187 | September 28, 2019 7:01 PM |
R183. I don't think SP showed bad form. She showed a sense of humor. Something you obviously lack.
by Anonymous | reply 188 | September 28, 2019 8:24 PM |
Francesca Hilton was not a reputable source. Eva was straight. 100%
by Anonymous | reply 189 | October 1, 2019 12:21 AM |
[quote] Eva was straight. 100%
We had that in common.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | October 1, 2019 12:36 AM |
R189, Of course she was.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | October 1, 2019 6:29 AM |
R191. Are you agreeing that Francesca was disreputable or are you agreeing that Eva was 100% straight?
by Anonymous | reply 192 | October 1, 2019 12:49 PM |
I agree with whoever said she didn’t seem like a very sexual person. I also imagine her to be too conscious of her appearance and how she looked to let go and enjoy a good romp with anybody. So she never pinged to me as either a lesbian or a sensual, sexual straight woman.
by Anonymous | reply 193 | October 1, 2019 2:30 PM |
I wonder if Eva ever had a fling with Holland Taylor. That would be hot!
by Anonymous | reply 194 | October 1, 2019 8:38 PM |
What's the best thing about oral sex with Zsa Zsa Gabor?

Straight, bi, whatever....my darlings, who cares?
I do love the house shown in R77's post....now that looks like the house where a star SHOULD live.
by Anonymous | reply 198 | October 2, 2019 11:14 PM |
R193. I disagree. I think Eva comes across as a very warm and loving person. I see her as very sensual.
by Anonymous | reply 199 | October 6, 2019 7:45 PM |
Eva was married five times yet had no kids. Hmmm . . .
by Anonymous | reply 200 | October 7, 2019 8:32 AM |
R200. What does that have to do with being lesbian or bisexual?
by Anonymous | reply 201 | November 1, 2019 2:11 AM |
This thread is as dead as Eva and Ava. 🙁
by Anonymous | reply 202 | November 3, 2019 9:58 PM |
So when Eva was interviewed by two women she said men "are a pain in the neck". When she was interviewed a man she said "I'm crazy about men". Which is it Eva?
by Anonymous | reply 204 | November 21, 2019 12:08 PM |
I imagine that, for Eva, it was both.
by Anonymous | reply 205 | November 21, 2019 5:23 PM |
I wish this thread was as active as Eva's sex life.
