What do we think of this pulpy thriller? It has a fantastic late-'80s hangover vibe with Glenne Headly and Demi Moore sporting huge hair (both play New Jersey hairdressers), and a virile, sexy-as-fuck Bruce Willis playing Headley's abusive prick of a husband. It's one of those '90s films that I feel doesn't get talked about much. It's a bit frivolous at times, but is quite well-acted from all involved. Headley is a scene-stealer here, and it's one of Moore's best performances IMO.

I saw it years ago when it came out but don't remember much. Was it a Diabolique type plot?

Is this the one where Shelby needs her juice? That's a very moving scene in the hair salon.

I never thought much of Demi Moore as an actress until I saw this movie. She surprised me in it—she provided a very convincing portrayal of a working-class Jersey woman.

I believe this came out around six months after Ghost, so Demi was a hot commodity at the time. Ghost was a better flick technically, but Mortal Thoughts was great in a salacious neo-noir way. She and Headly made two fantastic leads. Definitely Diabolique-inspired, and a hell of a lot better than the Sharon Stone remake of that film which came out a few years later.

I agree, Demi is terrific in it. I remember the press spoiled the twist by mentioning that Demi and then husband Bruce Willis had a violent scene together.

I watched it recently on Amazon. So sad that Headly died. I always liked her as an actress.

Headly was a great, quirky actress who died far too young. She reminded me of Carol Kane.
