I didn't even know this was a thing, having just used a nosehair trimmer my entire life. Is it recommended instead? What should I use?
You should never pull out nose hairs. It can cause pimples and other infections and that close to your brain isn't a good thing. Trim nose hairs.

Yes, but I have it done by an esthetician, OP. It felt strange the first couple of times -- not painful, exactly, but there's a ripping sensation that can be a little freaky until you get used to it. At this point, it doesn't faze me at all. I would never go back to trimming.

I only trim my nose hairs when they are sticking out of my nose.

Nose hair is a filter. You're not supposed to wax / pluck them.

It's just... distracting if you are talking to someone who has long nosehairs sticking out of their nose.

This.

That's why they have nose-hair trimmers, R7.

Omg I thought i had a pimple on my nose....it was a trimmed one trying to grow thru the top. Pulled it out. Saw it. Ouch

I tweeze my nose hairs. Some close to the edge of my nose are painful when I tweeze. Others not so bad. Hair maintenance is rather time-consuming as you get older.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 15, 2019 12:18 AM |
I only trim the external visible ones. As human, we need them internally.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 15, 2019 12:25 AM |
It can be so satisfying to pull out an especially long nose hair and trigger a huge sneezing fit.

I have started waxing the lower part now and then, using a no-strip wax on a popsicle-style stick. I know it's not a good thing to do--people have died from embolisms and such.

I trim them before they stick out.

Nose hair waxing aside, can you imagine having the be married to either one of those silly fools?

by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 15, 2019 1:31 PM |
I know they serve as filters but what actually they prevent from going in? ๐ท, ๐ ๐ ๐ ?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 15, 2019 1:43 PM |
I use Norelco one blade on my nose and ear hairs (I can't believe I already have ear hair in my 30s ๐). It works better than the traditional nose hair trimmer for me.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 15, 2019 1:45 PM |
I have a very similar device R22, but I can't fathom how you cut nose hairs with that thing. I use mine to trim my bush eyebrows and to keep my sideburns in check.
I have one of those rotary trimmers for my nose and ear hairs. I can get that thing way up into my nostrils.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 15, 2019 2:22 PM |
r23, the rotary trimmers just slide over my hairs for some reason.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 15, 2019 2:25 PM |
Yes, that does happen. I find if I do a stabbing motion in my nose it will catch the hairs that are prone to being missed. My trimmer has 2 removable heads including a straight edge trimmer head that is less than 1/4" wide I can put on to get anything the rotary trimmer can't reach.

This is why I know there is no God. The hair starts to leave your head and pops up in your nose and ears. How is this fair? What kind of God would allow this?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 15, 2019 2:47 PM |
And speaking of annoying hairs. Yesterday I felt something tickling me around my upper ear. I reached up and felt around and grabbed onto a big thick 1" long jet black hair that had sprouted out of the top most rim of my ear. I get these wild hairs about once a month. Usually they sprout out from the bottom of my ear lobes. My hair is snow white and very fine (with age), but these crazy sprout hairs are always quite thick and black. And they grow fast. There will be nothing there one day and a few days later a long thick hair will magically appear. They also have very shallow follicles. Just a slight tug and they pop out almost painlessly with the root ball still attached.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 15, 2019 2:47 PM |
Ew, r27. I wonder what causes the wild cancerous hairs.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 15, 2019 3:18 PM |
โDo you wax your nosehair?โ
Oh, the irony.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 15, 2019 3:39 PM |
The popular theory in the medical community is that those wild hairs that start happening as men age are caused by increased testosterone.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 15, 2019 3:51 PM |
I thought testosterone naturally decreased with age..
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 15, 2019 5:04 PM |
R17 You have done me proud!
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 15, 2019 5:11 PM |
R27 Yes, the ear hairs are much worse, and after you start trimming the ones inside the ear, they'll also show up on the lobes and around the entire ear, which is just dreadful.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 15, 2019 5:12 PM |
[quote] I thought testosterone naturally decreased with age.
Apparently it's not aging that reduces testosterone. It's the illnesses that come along with getting older such as obesity and heart disease. So, otherwise healthy men's testosterone levels can remain the same or in some cases increase with age.

My nose feels so free and clean after I tweeze my nose hairs.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 15, 2019 9:23 PM |
Apparently large flying items can get in r36's nose now though. ๐๐
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 15, 2019 11:37 PM |
My ear and nose hairs appear overnight like magic. I use a trimmer though, not wax. It's not good to wax inside your nose.
