When was the last time you saw someone holding a sign in public?

Downtown recently on 2 different occasions I saw a young white guy holding up a vindictive sign protesting a local political party.

And the other day I saw a black man standing on a very busy street corner in the blazing heat holding up a religious sign that said "Jesus Is The Way".

What about you?

Daily at freeway off ramps, Walmart entrances, and the mall.

What was on the vindictive sign?

R2 It was so over-the-top and rambling that I can't remember all of it. Quite neurotic really.

My favorite tidbit of irony.

Daily. I live in a large city. I’ve also protested, like a lot of gay Americans.

Is this somehow shocking to you, OP? Where do you live? Why do you characterize political protest as “vindictive?” That’s a weird word choice when discussing politics.

Last year, on Route 1 just north of Mendocino, I saw a group of four men holding a large banner that said "RESIST!" I think it was a general type of sign since I wasn't sure what they suggested resisting.

A bunch of fundies at the Gay P{ride march in NYC with big signs saying God is the One or something like that. They were surounded and outnumbered by LGBT protesters.

You have no idea what "Resist" means, R10? Really?

by Anonymousreply 12July 2, 2019 7:48 PM

Every other day driving around in LA.

by Anonymousreply 13July 2, 2019 7:51 PM

R13, are you from Arequipa?

by Anonymousreply 14July 3, 2019 4:25 AM

Today, in Las Vegas. A black chick, on one of the pedestrian bridges, holding a cardboard sign that said “Fuck Trump”

[quote]You have no idea what "Resist" means, [R10]? Really?

Well, since it was Mendocino it could've been any number of things -- caged chickens, non-organic gardening, what have you -- but I guess it was probably about the current political climate.

There’s a gentleman in Dupont Circle who begs with signs written in Hebrew. And he wonders why no one gives him money...or whatever it is he’s asking for....

by Anonymousreply 17July 4, 2019 1:29 AM

I see a guy frequently with a sign reading “Hungary”. I’m pretty sure he means hungry.

by Anonymousreply 18July 4, 2019 1:56 AM

R18 You should czech whether he’s poland your leg.

by Anonymousreply 19July 4, 2019 2:20 AM
