I want Tacos so badly. Yes, the cheap ones.
No you don't OP.
What you really want is a burrito bowl from yours truly.

I just had pork tacos with tomatillo salsa. It came in my Blue Apron box. Jealous bitch?

That crap doesn’t even qualify as food.
These are tacos:

Nothing beats homemade tacos! I rarely buy them and when I do, definitely not from Taco Bell.

IMO, Taco Bell tacos are delicious, judged on a fast food standard. The shell is super crispy. I can eat at least a couple of them, maybe 3 or 4, in one sitting. No, I am not fat.

[quote]No, I am not fat...YET.
Fixed.

The 'beef' in Taco Bell Tacos is from the lowest quality cow parts. Imagine the stuff not fit for hotdogs, spam, or bologna

I went to El Rey Thursday, OP. I had one carnitas and one beef fajita taco. Jealous?

Tacos are hoagies for the poor.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 30, 2019 7:27 AM |
Hoagies are tacos for the vulgar.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 30, 2019 3:19 PM |
I like hoagies (Italian) AND tacos.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 30, 2019 3:21 PM |
So, you must be both poor and vulgar, r14

I had tacos last night at an upscale place. Everything was fresh and good .... but I prefer Taco Bell.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 30, 2019 4:02 PM |
That's surprising, r17. Though I've been to Taco Bell twice recently, too, I still prefer "good" tacos.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 30, 2019 4:11 PM |
I like the taco truck tacos
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 1, 2019 2:19 AM |
You can have my taco, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 1, 2019 4:21 AM |
Which is more authentic, the crunchy corn shell or a soft shell? The crunchy ones break up while I am eating them and make a big mess.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 1, 2019 5:50 AM |
R21, I am pretty sure the soft corn tortilla kind.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 1, 2019 6:47 AM |
Hard shell tacos are so gross, we used to eat them at home in the 70s until we realized none of us was actually enjoying them.
Soft tacos are like little snacks/hors d'oeuvres. I mean you'd need to eat a dozen of them and with all the filling falling out while you eat? No thanks. I'll never understand the appeal of tacos.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 1, 2019 6:48 AM |
I like tacos, but I like enchiladas more.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 1, 2019 8:32 AM |
Some please give a good barbacoa recipe. I've made it twice but was underwhelmed with what came out vs. how it's supposed to taste.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 2, 2019 1:58 AM |
What did you not like about what you made, r25? What did you want it to taste like? Was it a texture issue? You can braise meat too long, making it too chewy. Or maybe you just needed more salt.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 2, 2019 2:22 AM |
R26, the seasoning was off. It tasted a little bland.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 2, 2019 2:24 AM |
Tostadas are better
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 2, 2019 2:26 AM |
We all know where the best tacos can be found. Or taco bowls, at least.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 2, 2019 2:26 AM |
r27 What did you use to make it hot?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 2, 2019 2:28 AM |
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 2, 2019 2:30 AM |
R30, chipotle chilis in adobo, but I think maybe the recipe didn't call for enough. It had cumin and oregano -- but I felt like it was missing something else.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 2, 2019 2:32 AM |
I'd add salt, r32, before trying anything else. But wait until you're done cooking.
Sometimes, to make something both hot and tasty, I split a serrano chile lengthwise, from the tip almost to the top, leaving in the seeds and membrane, and cook it with whatever meat or sauce I'm making for the entire cooking time. You can eat it once its fully cooked. Or not.
I don't care for oregano, so I always leave it out, but that's up to you.
Adding dark beer is sometimes a plus.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 2, 2019 2:42 AM |
R33, that makes me want to try making it again. The dark beer sounds like a good addition.
BTW, does anybody happen to know of a chef/site with solid Mexican recipes? I have my handful of chefs I swear by for certain cuisines (Maangchi for Korean). Are Marcella Valladolid's recipes good?
