Joe Biden continues to be a mess. “Gun manufacturers are the enemy, not the NRA”

He’s a gaffe machine.

Pete clocked that immediately but the moderators had already moved on by that point.

by Anonymousreply 1June 29, 2019 11:51 AM

Here's the full context, Einstein:

“The members of the NRA are not our opponents — the vast majority of them support common-sense reforms, including universal background checks. The gun manufacturers who bankroll the NRA are our opponent. As president, Biden will defeat them,” the campaign tweeted from Biden’s account.

From the man who wrote The PATRIOT Act... No thanks Joe, no thanks.

by Anonymousreply 3June 29, 2019 11:53 AM

The thing is, let him do himself in but the racial lies that they have been telling, I do not like that.

by Anonymousreply 4June 29, 2019 11:54 AM

What he said is correct. He knows his stuff.

by Anonymousreply 5June 29, 2019 11:56 AM

r2 That's post-debate clarification/spin, not what he said during the debate itself, Einstein.

by Anonymousreply 6June 29, 2019 11:57 AM

Fine, if you want to parse things to suit your bias, live in your bubble. But facts are facts. Even in the Democratic context. You're blocked, dildo.

by Anonymousreply 7June 29, 2019 12:00 PM

This is for Biden.

He needs to pass it.

Biden is handling this like Hillary did. No preparation, massive sence of entitlement. Luckily he faces some serious competition that will sideline him sooner than later.

by Anonymousreply 9June 29, 2019 12:04 PM

Has gun owner Harris commented on this issue?

by Anonymousreply 10June 29, 2019 12:05 PM

The NRA which is an arm of the Kremlin.

by Anonymousreply 11June 29, 2019 12:12 PM

Probably we should wait and see what Bernie is going to say about this.

[quote]Sanders, in the House at the time, supported a 2005 law backed by the National Rifle Association granting gun manufacturers broad legal protections and was one of 59 Democrats to vote for the legislation in the GOP-led House. Sanders and Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio are the only Democratic presidential candidates to have voted for that bill, which Phillips said nearly bankrupted her family.

It's a false premise that it has to be either the gun manufacturers, or the NRA, but cannot be both.

OF COURSE IT IS BOTH OF THEM.

And neither the NRA or the gun manufacturers can shoulder the endurling blame for all the children who have been killed by negligent adults who left their inherently dangerous guns unsecured.

by Anonymousreply 13June 29, 2019 12:19 PM

For crying out loud, we actually have people here relitigating 2016 by saying HRC was never prepared for debates?

by Anonymousreply 14June 29, 2019 12:57 PM

The last post before DL lights are turned off permanently will be:

She was ROBBED! ROBBED I tell ya!

by Anonymousreply 15June 29, 2019 1:01 PM

People should stop focusing on him. He's riding on name recognition for the moment. He's up against about two dozen opponents and he'll simply fade if he doesn't have what it takes. Big whoop.

Harris was dumb to go after him with a mostly dishonest portrayal of her childhood. Her Rosa Parks moment will be her Waterloo. Buh-bye, Kammy!

by Anonymousreply 16June 29, 2019 1:02 PM

I beg to differ, r14.

by Anonymousreply 17June 29, 2019 1:02 PM

Does anyone have context or background info that would explain why Biden distinguished the NRA from manufacturers? I’ve never read about him having unusual ties to them (more than any other Dem politician) or DE having a particularly hard-line stance on gun rights. Does he have an outlier position on lobbyists in general? It was really odd.

by Anonymousreply 18June 29, 2019 1:03 PM

Biden looked embalmed during the debates.

by Anonymousreply 19June 29, 2019 1:03 PM

[quote]People should stop focusing on him.

Really? Why? He's considered the front runner right now, so telling people to ignore him is absurd.

Oh. We should somehow ignore Biden, but accept your bizarre spin on Harris's performance, which was the biggest moment of the night. Okay, sure, troll.

by Anonymousreply 20June 29, 2019 1:14 PM

Biden really overdid the cosmetic work. With the facelift, a brow lift, his eyes tightened (again) and his huge IMPLANT chiclet teeth he looked made more like some old Vegas lounge singer than a politician. The Biden's come across as kind of trashy people.

by Anonymousreply 21June 29, 2019 1:15 PM

R21 I really like Dr. Jill Biden, but agree that VP Biden did way too much to his face.

by Anonymousreply 22June 29, 2019 1:25 PM

[quote]Biden is handling this like Hillary did. No preparation, massive sence of entitlement.

Oh, Dear. Do you have a problem with spelling in English?

Also, preparation for debates and cultivating policy statements were not matters HRC neglected.

by Anonymousreply 23June 29, 2019 1:35 PM

[quote]Newspapers, including The Times, generally do not use the honorific "Dr." unless the person in question has a medical degree. "My feeling is if you can't heal the sick, we don't call you doctor," said Bill Walsh, copy desk chief for the Washington Post's A section and the author of two language books.

[quote]"Dr. Jill Biden." This strikes some people as perfectly appropriate and others as slightly pompous, a quality often ascribed to her voluble husband.

I find them both tacky R22.

Biden is just not sharp enough anymore. Given the current political climate, we need someone who is on point every minute of the day during this campaign cycle, and more importantly once he/she takes office. It IS time to pass the torch.

by Anonymousreply 25June 29, 2019 3:11 PM

[quote]Biden is just not sharp enough anymore.

I agree. I like him as a person but this is going to be a growing problem going forward. And it's not ageism to point that out.

by Anonymousreply 26June 29, 2019 3:46 PM

[quote]Biden is handling this like Hillary did. No preparation...

Oh, just SHUT THE FUCK UP and stop pulling SHIT OUT OF YOUR ASS!!

No one in the history of politics was or is more prepared having done MORE HOMEWORK than Hillary Clinton, and you and the feckless media spent fifteen months mocking her for being "over-prepared" and inauthentic for being too wonky! You can't be fucking SERIOUS!

Go away to your Bernie Sanders retreat, and throw darts at Elizabeth Warren, or continue shitting on all of the very credible candidates and vote for Jill Stein AGAIN you freak!

by Anonymousreply 27June 29, 2019 4:00 PM

Hillary was always prepared and she was always the smartest one in the room. Biden has been in Washington for ever and he is proud of most of his work (except Anita Hill) . So you can continue to put out a bunch of lies about him, it won't matter that much, I think his age will hurt him most.
