Would he love all the international parks? Would he loathe the high ticket prices, the endless stream of remakes? Well?
What would Walt Disney think about the Disney Company anno 2019?

The culture shock would push him right back into the grave.

I haven't been to Disneyland in 25 years. My friend (who has kids) described to me how every ride now has a movie attached to it (from the now-acquired "Star Wars" films to "Guardians of the Galaxy"). That seems charmless to me, but I'm sure the kids of today think it's great.

Its all very nice. But why so many Jews?

walt disney was a white supremacist.

Didn't he request to be cryogenically frozen?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 22, 2019 10:34 PM |
Yes, R5. And in a case of misplacement, his head was later found in the ice cream aisle of a Safeway.

I think he would hate the acquired franchises (Marvel and Star Wars).
He had a vision, and these universes don’t belong in his.

How would he feel about an organization that’s primary activity is pissing on his grave for profit?

why doesn't disney update tomorrowland, which is basically 1950's land?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 22, 2019 10:53 PM |
@R9 Tomorrowland is a "retro (vintage) vision of what the future would look like", if you know what I mean.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 22, 2019 10:56 PM |
R9 - That's what I'm saying. I love that shit. "Updating" it is like losing one of the last gasps of how Disneyland was originally styled.

He’d be disappointed at how creatively bankrupt it has become...did he even do a single sequel in his lifetime?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 23, 2019 12:29 AM |
R14, lots of the live action movies in his day were series.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 23, 2019 12:31 AM |
might be my imagination but I thought I heard one of his relatives say recently that he would hate what they have turned in to.

So many homosexuals!

Disney was a racist, among other things. If he were alive today, one of two things would have happened. Either the entire Disney empire would have devoted itself to being Trump's State Broadcasting Network or Trump would have given Disney a job in his administration so Disney would have no time to be bothered with the Disney Company as he helped make America whiter and widened the gulf between rich and poor.

Lets not put Walt on a pedestal he doesn't deserve. He was all about milking anything and everything for a buck. His television show was nothing but one big commercial for Disneyland, and if there was nothing new to promote at the park he did a special episode on whatever movie was in production at the moment.
If wasn't playing pitchman with Wonderful World of Disney, he was signing corporate sponsorship deals with people like Monsanto (House of Tomorrow), Chevron (Autopia), General Dynamics (Submarine Voyage), General Electric (Carousel of Progress) and even Captain Hook's Pirate Ship at Skull Rock (Starkist Tuna). That's not even mentioning all the sponsorships up and down Main Street.
No, if anything Walt would be pissed at all the money Eiger and the boys are leaving on the table these days.

I interviewed for a job in the legal department of Disney Co - back office work. I was told that I could not have a moustache, had to smile the whole time, mustn't drink booze during the week or on Sunday ... Walt had a moustache, smiled occasionally, drank himself to death. If he came back he'd think that he'd be unlikely to be offered employment by his old firm.

The sexualisation of female characters, and endowing them with the attributes of savvy sexually aware and promiscuous US high school girls would shock the guy.

I never let Annette show her bellybutton so much as her cootch!

[quote]did he even do a single sequel in his lifetime?
"The Absent Minded Professor " & "Son Of Flubber", The Misadventures of Merlin Jones" & "The Monkey's Uncle"

Disney was all about the money. He'd love it.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 24, 2019 2:33 PM |
Yeah, I agree he wouldn't be too disappointed. They've preserved the man's legacy and vision for all these years. The company makes billions and is the biggest/most influential in the industry. He might have beef over that second Mary Poppins stinker that bombed so badly. I also don't think Epcot lived up to what it was supposed to be.
