We have one thread about Australian gossip, so why not about Canadian. Lets talk about major and minor celebs here. Who is gay, who is closeted?

Politician Jason Kenny is a huge closet case.

After 18 years of speculation could we finally set the record straight on which Ashmore twin is the gay one? It's Shawn, right?

Doug Ford and Andrew Scheer are into scat play

by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 21, 2019 1:56 AM |
R7 people are trying to claim that he and that Kathy chick are legit, just very private. Sure Jan! Any Pittsburgh locals care to shed some light?

I have a friend who works in Ontario politics and with the PC party. Vic Fedeli had a complete meltdown when he learned of his demotion. He started screaming.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 21, 2019 2:10 AM |
Yeah, R10. I can imagine.
It's unprecedented for a Finance Minister to be demoted after only 1 year in the job.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 21, 2019 2:11 AM |
R11 My friend says that the rumours of him being dropped from cabinet were indeed true. He likely won't run for reelection now. Lisa Thompson was so out of her element.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 21, 2019 2:15 AM |
Vic Fedeli should take a page from Jody Wilson Raybould and start a campaign to push Doug Ford out
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 21, 2019 2:25 AM |
Lisa MacLeod, R12?
Yeah, it makes sense that Ford demoted her to Tourism after all the controversy she has provoked with parents of autistic children.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 21, 2019 2:26 AM |
R14 She apparently feels scape goated. Some of the staff and caucus feel a certain way about the new additions to Cabinet. They don't think Kinga Surma, Jill Dunlop are qualified.
Christine Elliott feels overwhelmed by the health portfolio. That's the real reason her file was split into 3. My friend predicts the Ontario Health Teams will be a giant clusterfuck based on what he is hearing. There will be massive service disruptions.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 21, 2019 2:36 AM |
What's odd about Christine Elliott is that a couple of years ago she had retired from politics, and then all of a sudden she came running back in last year.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 21, 2019 2:40 AM |
R16 She has health issues (we're finally seeing this leak to certain outlets likely by factions looking to push her out).

Renata Ford (Rob Ford's widow) will be running for Maxime Bernier's People's Party in Etobicoke.
Could take votes away from the Conservatives. Probably a way to get back at Doug for the fight they're having over Rob's estate.

R32 someone mentioned in another thread a while back that he was fucking Canadian actor Allan Hawco while they were both performing at the Stratford Festival some years back.
Another poster then added that the woman Hawco married is not only a CBC executive, but a well known lesbian around the gaybourhood.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 23, 2019 7:54 PM |
Rat faced Kinga Surma and Doug Ford are fucking. Christine Hogarth was the MPP that Ford's now former Chief of Staff, Dean French reduced to tears. Lisa MacLeod is not well liked or respected by anyone in the PC Party.

Ben Mulroney is a major closet case has used 'exclusive' male escorts.
Justin Trudeau has had numerous affairs including one with a cabinet minister Catherine McKenna
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 26, 2019 12:17 AM |
I've heard the rumors about Justin Trudeau & Catherine McKenna (& other female staffers), but how reliable are they, R42?
Ben Mulroney I'm not sure about. He's married to a woman and has 2 kids, so if he's gay why has he chosen that route?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 26, 2019 12:34 AM |
R43 It's an open knowledge in the Canadian media but the media is always very hesitant to talk about politicians private lives. However Justin's wife basically all but admitted that he's cheated on her in an interview around the 2015 election.
Ben Mulroney comes from a super conservative family that wouldn't likely accept a gay son. Rumours about Ben have been around for ages.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 26, 2019 12:40 AM |
R44, isn't Ben's father a Red Tory who is moderate on social issues? His father was Prime Minister of the old Progressive Conservative party. Ben does ping a bit and has been an entertainment t.v. host for many years, but why go to the length of getting married to a woman and having kids?
I wouldn't be surprised if Justin plays around. But is it cheating, or do he & Sophie have an open marriage?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 26, 2019 12:44 AM |
Yeah, I’d love to know what really happened there, R46.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | June 26, 2019 12:50 AM |
Any gossip on those annoying Canadians who act on Hallmark movies and TV shows?
by Anonymous | reply 48 | June 26, 2019 12:52 AM |
TV personality and radio host Roz Weston is the biggest fucking prick you will ever meet.
His entire career has been stepping on the backs of whoever will help him advance his career.
His entire nice guy good time Charlie persona is a complete put on and the real Roz is a cold calculating opportunist who won't think twice about ruining someone else's career to help himself.
He's also an anti-gay douchebag who routinely uses anti-gay slurs and thinks the height of comedy is doing a lisping limp wristed impression of gay men.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | June 26, 2019 1:14 AM |
Know anything about MMA fighter Georges St-Pierre? Wiki doesn't have much on his personal life. Is he married, living the pussy hound life?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | June 26, 2019 1:24 AM |
The hairdressers at CBC used to call Wendy Mesley "Windy," not because of her terrible gas from Peter Mansbridge's cooking at the time, but because her hair was so thin and fine and flyaway that it was a catastrophe every time she had to film outdoors. That fun tidbit brought to you by the good people at Frank Magazine, circa 1993.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | June 26, 2019 1:26 AM |
Not gossip - just an observation. Thank goodness MM is not Canadian or at least born in Canada.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | June 26, 2019 1:27 AM |
R50 supposedly gay and publicly closeted but privately out.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | June 26, 2019 1:28 AM |
Ben Mulroney is married to a nice Jewish girl from Montreal.
When he was on The Talk on CTV a couple years ago he spoke in favor of having his boys snipped.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | June 26, 2019 2:22 AM |
There's good hockey speculation in this thread:
by Anonymous | reply 55 | June 26, 2019 3:47 AM |
I don't get Crosby at all. If that girl is really his gf why are they so standoffish, why tf has he never even mentioned her, ever-- that goes beyond "being private", it's plain freakish by normal straight couple standards and even by Crosby's —he's a superstitious freak— standards. She's been around for Cup celebrations and some games and some weddings and dinners with teammates and pics with Pens WAGs... only to get completely banished (shipped off?) afterwards. Like, people already know she exists, yet Sid has never taken her to any awards shows or public events (only date he's ever brought anywhere was his sister to the NHL awards once)-- the fact that no one in the media has ever asked him about it or talked about that only makes it more suspicious, that means they know they're not supposed to ask/mention that, but why?? What are we missing here? Sid can't even say her name? As for the girl in question, imagine not being acknowledged by your man after a decade together, if it's a real relationship how does their dynamic even work, she's a doormat... And, if she's a beard, then why not putting her to good use, it doesn't make sense- if you have a beard you show her off-- that's why I hesitate on assuming he's gay... like, is he that bad- that awkward he can't even fake in public like a normal closeted man (or even if he's asexual or is out there being a secret pussy hound), literally just stand by her side, doesn't even need to touch her —if he's that icky about touching as he seems to be (all those pics with his hands on his pockets)... In the end he doesn't bother at all to either put up a decent act, or act like he actually gives a fuck about his longterm girlfriend. So the speculation won't die. So which is it? Can't say "I only want to focus on [insert profession]" forever.

Ha ha
Of course a thread about Canadian gossip is dull as dishwater
by Anonymous | reply 57 | June 26, 2019 2:58 PM |
Should Jian Ghomeshi have been convicted?
by Anonymous | reply 58 | June 26, 2019 3:41 PM |
R58 There is no doubt he was guilty but Ghomeshi's lawyer Marie Henein managed to poke enough holes in the women's stories to get him acquitted (which in legal terms isn't the same as not guilty). There is a double standard in the Canadian justice system - it's something that Henein herself admitted after the case was over - because a defence lawyer is allowed to get dirt on accusers and not report back to The Crown but the Crown has to give every single piece of evidence it has a against the accused. This is why the Crown was caught by surprise during Ghomeshi's trial.
Now, the second case which involved a former CBC-employee accusing Ghomeshi didn't go to trial because Henein was allowed to use a peace bond in which Ghomeshi - while not actually confirming guilt - apologized to the victim. It's now known that the reason for the peace bond is that Henein believed she would lose the second case because she had nothing to poke holes in the accusers story. Having seen the character damage Henein inflected on the first batch of women, the victim decided to take a peace bond instead of going to trial which is unfortunate but understandable.

R56, it's certainly interesting that Sidney Crosby seems to rarely have had a girlfriend up until now.
Despite being a famous, handsome, wealthy hockey player who could be banging lots of hot girls, hardly anything is ever heard about Sidney and girls.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | June 26, 2019 8:51 PM |
Maxime Bernier got married today, but I'm surprised he couldn't have found a better looking woman:
by Anonymous | reply 61 | June 28, 2019 6:13 AM |
[quote](only date he's ever brought anywhere was his sister to the NHL awards once)
He brought a childhood friend to a charity Kentucky Derby event in 2011. Sid got him a job with the Penguins as well. Still working there I think. Pens Youth Hockey manager. But that's just yet another famous person hooking an old friend up with a job.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | June 29, 2019 2:57 AM |
Friend was also at 2015 Worlds. Again I don't particularly think that's his secret boo or anything— it's his close childhood friend. But seeing how little we know about Crosby's circle of trusted people, might as well mention him.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | June 29, 2019 2:58 AM |
I worked for CTV in Ottawa for a number of years (2010-2107) and here is some gossip that is well known in the media but not publicly reported on. The Canadian news media has an unwritten rule that it doesn't report on the private lives of politicians particularly when it comes to sexual matters because it would mean involving spouses or lovers who are not necessarily in the public eye. There is a feeling that it is unethical to bring the spotlight on a private citizen rather than an elected official. Not saying I agree with that but it's the truth.
Jason Kenney, now the Premier of Alberta and former federal cabinet minister under Stephen Harper - is gay, but a major closet case. Kenney had a propensity for hiring young responsibly attractive young men as interns, then promoting them to high positions within his office that they were not remotely qualified for. One particular young man who because a Director in Kenney's office lived with Kenney in a one bedroom condo in Ottawa.
John Baird - former conservative cabinet minister under Stephen Harper - his being gay is hardly a secret. What is shocking is that he has yet to be caught up in #metoo. Baird was notoriously inappropriate with younger men to the point that young men who were hired into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (which was Baird's ministry for most of his time in office) were actually warned about his behaviour and advised not to be alone with him.
Nigel Wright - Stephen Harper's former right hand man who Harper then threw under the bus in order to avoid being personally implicated in the senate scandal. Also gay but a devout Anglican who leads a celibate life. I met him twice and here's the thing he's actually a really nice guy and I couldn't not figure out why the fuck he would be involved with Harper and why he continues to support the Conservative Party after all they did to him. It's known Harper directed him to pay off Mike Duffy but his personal sense of loyalty means he will never point the finger at the former PM.
Speaking of Stephen Harper - all the rumours about him and his wife's marriage are mostly true. I believe for most of Harper's second to third term in office, he and his wife were basically living separate lives only being seen together at public events. They're still married but I believe continue to mostly lead different lives. The reason they have not separated is rumoured to be that Harper plans on running for the Conservative leadership again if Andrew Scheer loses this year's election. Now there were rumours that Laureen Harper had taken up with another woman, but that's ideal gossip. That may come from the fact that Laureen is very pro-LGBTQ and isn't actually a strong conservative supporter which is likely the source of some of the tension in the Harper marriage.
Justin Trudeau - Numerous affairs, however, I believe he and his wife have an agreement.
Doug Ford - Former Drug dealer, bought the leadership of the Ontario Conservatives using false memberships and votes (OPP have quietly sealed the investigation on this due to the family's personal connection in the force).

On a lighter, non-political note, any gossip on Ty Olsson, a hunky actor who was in a number of those low-rent, made-in-Canada Lifetime/Hallmark movies?

[quote]Jason Kenney, now the Premier of Alberta and former federal cabinet minister under Stephen Harper - is gay, but a major closet case.
Yeah, it's been suspected for years that Kenney is gay. 50 years old and never married or had kids.
It's disgraceful that he has such a long anti-gay voting record.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | July 1, 2019 9:33 PM |
R66 I hated working for CTV overall nasty pro-conservative company as is Global too were I worked before CTV. You worked in CTV Toronto? Were you ever creeped by Todd Van der Heyden? There were a ton of rumours about him being inappropriate with male staff, but that might have just stemmed from homophobia and the fact that he's allegedly a total diva.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | July 2, 2019 6:15 PM |
There has been a ton of rumours on twitter about Ontario MPP Sam Oosterhoff being caught propositioning men in public washrooms around Toronto and also dating a male grad student from Queen's University.

by Anonymous | reply 75 | July 2, 2019 10:48 PM |
R72 Rob Gill on twitter has outed Sam numerous times.
R73 a big reason for that is Canada doesn't have a star system like the US or UK. In order for our celebrities to get famous they have to move to Hollywood.

by Anonymous | reply 82 | July 3, 2019 7:45 PM |
R81 Speaking of Jian Ghomeshi, it was fairly well known in Toronto that Ghomeshi is bisexual. An alleged male victim came forward to the Toronto Star back at the height of the revelations that when he and Ghomeshi were students at York University in Toronto, Ghomeshi once grabbed the guy's crotch and asked to go down on him when they were alone in an elevator. The guy claims there was no lead up that it was totally out of the blue. Also in Toronto Life article before the Ghomeshi's trial about what his life was like now, one of Ghomeshi's friends stated that he used to boast about sleeping with guys including going to bed with a mutual friend's husband.
A former friend of mine, we've lost touch since he moved out of Toronto, briefly worked for the CBC and he told me about an encounter he had with Ghomeshi. This was back in the early 00s when Ghomeshi used to be an arts an culture reporter for the Toronto 6 pm CBC news. My friend was working on the logistics an event Ghomeshi was going to cover. At one point, my friend's boyfriend at the time showed up - I think they were in Riverdale Park covering the story but don't quote me - to drop off some lunch. Ghomeshi definitely was checking the boyfriend out and then later was asking my friend a lot of sexual questions about their relationship: are you closed, your boyfriend looks like he gives amazing head, does he fuck you or do you fuck him? At one point Ghomeshi invited my friend and his boyfriend over for dinner but my friend never followed through thankfully.

[quote]Justin Trudeau - Numerous affairs, however, I believe he and his wife have an agreement.
Yeah, unlike some rumors, the Trudeau ones probably have some truth to them. Even the Canadian journalists have talked about them and Sophie didn't really deny it when she was asked a few years ago.
Trudeau looks like he enjoys sex, and with all the women (& men) coming onto him every day, it's probably difficult not to enjoy the opportunities.
But is it an open marriage? Is Sophie allowed to play around, too?
by Anonymous | reply 86 | July 4, 2019 5:39 AM |
R86 Trudeau's affairs are common knowledge it's not a secret. As you've stated journalist over the years have strongly hinted at it and yes Sophie gave a non-denial denial when asked. I also don't think Trudeau is bi I think he's a pussy hound but is totally comfortable with gay men perhaps even harmless flirting but nothing further.
I'm actually wondering what the state of Sophie and Justin's marriage is. I believe Sophie is [mostly] in the marriage for the money, lifestyle, and fame. However, Sophie's public profile has drastically decreased in the last year or so. When Justin first become Prime Minister she had a very public profile (the Conservatives even criticized her for it) but since about 2017 or so, she only shows up to major official events. I sense there is trouble in the marriage.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | July 4, 2019 3:46 PM |

It's bad enough to be an anti-gay closeted politician who is supposedly celibate. It's another thing to be having actual gay sex while voting against gays in the legislature.

by Anonymous | reply 111 | July 7, 2019 4:02 AM |
I'm R64 and Jason Kenney's sexuality is well known in the media and in conservative circles. The Canadian media is always hesitant to discuss politicians private lives partly because privacy and libel laws in Canada are stricter than they are in the States. Also lets not forgot that virtually all of Canada's media outlets are run by conservative supporters so they protect their own.

Yes, R113.
You can start with the Prime Minister -- Justin Trudeau:

by Anonymous | reply 115 | July 7, 2019 11:15 AM |
In my opinion Brian Gallant who was Liberal premier of New Brunswick from 2014 to 2018 is even hotter than Justin. Sadly, after being defeated in the last election, he has decided to leave politics.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | July 7, 2019 2:43 PM |
R116 Gallant is very handsome. His party won the popular vote but the conservatives won more seats. He's only 37 so I don't expect he'll stay out of politics forever. There has been some buzz that he might run for the federal liberals at some point.

Pierre Pettigrew, a Chretien era cabinet minister, was my boss several years ago when I worked for Deloitte. Gay, though was not publicly out but never hid it either, and shockingly modest and charming. Whereas other executives couldn't so much as put on a shoe without their assistant doing up their laces, Pettigrew was very low maintenance. He was also a very good dresser and always smelt good.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | July 7, 2019 6:27 PM |
R119, how come Pierre Pettigrew never officially came out?
Was it a generational thing?
by Anonymous | reply 121 | July 8, 2019 1:11 AM |
R121 I should rephrase my comment about him being out. He was completely out when I worked with him not closeted at all. He was single, or at least he never mentioned having a partner, and my take on him was a workaholic who wasn't really romantically or sexually driven. As for his political life I think he was in the glass closet. He was like a lot of other gay public figures in Canada during the 90s and early 00s who were gay not in the closet but it wasn't really talked about people like him, Rick Mercer, Seamus O'Reagan,Ontario MPP Ian Scott.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | July 8, 2019 1:24 AM |
Sandy Silver, the Premier of Yukon, is gay, right? I find him quite attractive.
(pictured here with Justin.)
by Anonymous | reply 123 | July 8, 2019 1:52 AM |
Sandy Silver has a little Raul Esparza thing going on.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | July 8, 2019 2:04 AM |
R119, yes, but Seamus O'Reagan has been officially out for several years. So has Rick Mercer. And Scott Brison. And there are several other openly-gay MPs in Parliament.
So it's surprising that Pettigrew hasn't officially come out by now. He's been out of politics for a decade. (Justin Trudeau now holds his riding in Montreal).
Btw, Svend Robinson, former NDP MP, and first openly-gay MP in Canada, is running for a comeback this year in British Columbia.

Richard Hatfield who was premier of New Brunswick from 1970 to 1987 had his career ruined by the homophobic and anti-marijuana hysteria stoked by the media monopoly (Irving) in the province.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | July 8, 2019 2:08 AM |
R126, Richard Hatfield was one of only 2 Premiers (the other was Bill Davis of Ontario) who supported Pierre Trudeau's new Constitution in the early 1980's.
And yes, the Irving family are vile. They are the ones who just fired cartoonist Michael De Adder for his negative cartoons of Trump.

She could be a beard, R129.
Why can't a rich hockey player find a hotter girl than that?
by Anonymous | reply 130 | July 8, 2019 2:35 AM |
R125 I'm not defending Pettigrew but he's no longer in public life at all. I don't the average person even knows who he is anymore he really has no public forum to come out in anymore. Regardless he was always pro-LGBTQ voting for gay marriage and he also did LGBTQ advocacy with the UN during and after his time as Foreign Affairs Minister.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | July 8, 2019 4:11 AM |
Not sure how I feel about Svend Robinson’s return to politics. I think the time off did him good. He’s still with the same partner he married in 1994.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | July 8, 2019 4:21 AM |
True, R131. Pettigrew was socially liberal. He wasn't an anti-gay closet case like Jason Kenney or Aaron Schock in the U.S. I just wondered why he hadn't come out.
R132, yeah, Svend made a positive impact as the first openly-gay MP in Canada. But it's 15 years since he's been in Parliament and he's in his late 60's. Might be time to let the next generation take over.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | July 8, 2019 6:36 AM |
This is the cartoon by New Brunswick cartoonist Mike De Adder that got him fired.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | July 8, 2019 3:06 PM |
R130 So he could be hard-closeted even to his teammates (Malkin's one of his closest friends)?? I mean, bringing her to a family dinner feels like too much, how much does he have to fake it? The Captain and best player of this generation... the bigger you are, the bigger the burden to keep up appearances, that's certainly true. But the thing about that is, like R56 says, "if she's a beard, then why not putting her to good use, it doesn't make sense", why not bringing her to public events, take PR pics with her, nothing too wild or too big, casually mention her in interviews, isn't that what a beard is for? There wouldn't be so much speculation. And the same thing can be said about a beard, why wouldn't a big-time hockey player find himself a beard hotter than that? A homely longtime gf is more believable than a homely beard. It's a weird situation/relationship regardless. Sid seems to be just socially screwed up. Seems like really, all he cares about is hockey.

Most of the talk is about closeted conservative politicians because they typically attempt to usurp gay rights. Believe it or not there are closeted politicians across the political spectrum - more so in the Liberal Party. The difference of is that most are allies and support pro-LGBTQ legislation. There is one cabinet minister in Trudeau's government who privately identifies as bisexual and despite being married to a woman with kids, also has a male live in partner. However he is very pro-gay and participate in LBGTQ events and his arrangement appears to be approved by both his wife and grownup children.

by Anonymous | reply 142 | July 11, 2019 3:43 AM |
Interesting. Bill Morneau is handsome, and probably the wealthiest person in the Trudeau Government.
Back when Jean Chretien was Prime Minister, it was an open secret that cabinet minister Bill Graham from Toronto was gay and that he and his wife had an understanding and that he was allowed to have a relationship with the poolboy. In one infamous exchange, nasty Conservative MP Cheryl Gallant made a snarky comment about his boyfriend.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | July 11, 2019 1:41 PM |
R143 Yes, Bill Morneau comes from money and also married money too. I don't know much about him except that when he worked on Bay Street he was very highly regarded as being very likeable and easy to work for. He has three kids with his wife, but they also adopted an orphan girl from Uganda. While I don't know anything about the bi rumours, I do know he's very active politically with the LGBTQ+ community in Toronto.

I used to be a script supervisor and a number of TV shows that shot in Vancouver, and a handful in Toronto before I quit. Here are a couple random recollections I have.
Allan Hawco - at the very least he's bi. Was fucking a male production assistant while filming Zone of Separation. I've also heard a lot of gossip about gay hookups during his theatre days.
Michael Shanks - total asshole and homohobe. On Saving Hope he referred to a director as a "that fucking faggot." Screwed around on his wife constantly.
JR Bourne - Gay and when I worked with him had a bad drinking and cocaine problem.
Yannick Bisson - Handsome, although short. Totally straight and dominate by his wife. Very little personality and dumb as a post. Literally had to be given phonetic spelling for fairly simple words.
Shawn Ashmore - Sweet and down to earth. Straight. Doesn't wear underwear...how I know this is I was working on a TV movie with him that required him to run in scene....lets just say there was a lot of flopping.

He happened to live in the same building as my sister and brother-in-law. His wife and kids stayed in Vancouver. He definitely came across as smug.
My only other bit of Canadian "celebrity" gossip is, CBC's Andrew Chang lives in my building. Super nice guy but very short like I'm thinking 5'4 at the most.

Canadians clearly spend their time discussing Americans and random European celebs. This thread is sad.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | July 15, 2019 12:40 AM |
R159 Canada doesn't have a star system like America. Our entertainment industry is tiny and most our media comes from the US or the UK. Most artists in Canada generally leave for NYC or LA to try and establish themselves. Those who do manage to make a career in Canada aren't all that well known and we're not really interested in their private lives. We have no tabloids or gossip shows...well there is ET Canada but it mostly just focuses on America stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | July 15, 2019 12:44 AM |
R160 How is this possible when a significant portion of "American" celebrities are Canadians? Many of the threads are about actors who are from or work in Canada.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | July 15, 2019 12:48 AM |
R161 Are you canadian? It's really hard to describe if you don't live here. The reason why a significant portion of Hollywood celebrities are Canadian is because most Canadian actors move to the States to find work. The vast majority of production filmed in Canada are actually American productions. We have virtually no movie industry, and all of our TV networks only air American shows. Only CBC and CTV produce some Canadian TV shows.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | July 15, 2019 1:26 AM |
Exactly. I go to the same gym as one of the Canadian "celebrities" who gets discussed here every once in a while. I've seen the guy naked, chatted with him, I don't think of him as someone who has that "celebrity distance" from me that I would care to talk that much about him, when his name pops up. We Canadians do not like "tall poppies", so to speak. That's why the political gossip seems to gain most traction.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | July 15, 2019 1:31 AM |
R163 Because our lack of a star system, politicians often substitute as celebrities here. Part of the reason for this is the entertainment industry here is so small that most Canadian actors eventually move to the States where there is more opportunity and money. The other reason is we have no tabloid culture that pry into the private lives on Canadian actors at home. All the entertainment magazines and tabloids we get here are all American or British and focused on Hollywood celebrities. So if you want to make it big in Canada as an actor, you basically have to make big in America.

Canada is self conscious image wise. Just look at reality shows like the Canadian verson of The Amazing Race. It's all good and nice people and the bad guys are usually over-eager to please or over passionate to win, but still very polite.
A bit off topic. Just caught up on some Hallmark Mystery TV movie shows like101 Mystery and the Emma Fielding Mysteries and when I got to the Emma Fielding ones, starring Courtney Thorne.Smith I was shocked to see Adam DiMarco in them as regular. That guy must be one of the busiest Canadian actors these days. The Magicians, Emma Fielding, The Order, guest appearances on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Charmed, Cedar Cove and was in When We Rise and the gay comedy Date and Switch. Obviously he's an exception, but there are a lot of TV and movie projects filmed in Canada which gives a lot of local actors work.

Years ago someone told me Jian Ghomeshi dated women much younger that him, and insinuated there was something predatory about him.

As for Debbie Travis, when she did her show Facelift for HGTV she was never directly involved in any of the designing. She would come in maybe two or three times during the shoot, deliver some lines and go home. After 2010 or so, no one in Canada would hire in and she and her husband started a production company. R208 Shanks appears to be politically to the left but, yes, his tweet comes off dochey and I would not at all be surprised if he uses insults like faggot. It's pretty much an open fact that he was something of a "diva" in the early seasons of SG-1 to the point that he quit the show and burnt a lot of bridges in the process. He was pissed that his character wasn't getting as much screen time and decided to walk once his contract was up at the end of season 5. During the last season, he was barely on speaking terms with anyone involved with the show including Richard Dean Anderson. He left thinking he'd have a big career, but nothing panned out. He had an audition for a role in Star Trek Nemesis (which Tom Hardy got). It became appearnt very quickly that he had made a mistake and the producers also realized the show didn't work as well without Daniel Jackson.

Any gossip on Ross Hull? Started off as a kid actor then became a weatherman. He's one of the few gay men who surprised me when he came out. But then being a weatherman, I shouldn't have been surprised.

I remember Ross Hull from the high school series, 'Student Bodies'. Didn't know he was gay. Thought he was just a nerd.
The cute guy from that show was Jamie Elman. He's Jewish and now does a Yiddish series with another Jewish actor:

R213 I remember that show too. It was bizarre because it started off like a Canadian Saved By The Bell, then turned into this weird 90210 show that was light on laughs and heavy on relationship drama.

I posted this gossip about Ryan Gossling before, but here goes again.
I know a guy who worked on Breaker High, an actor, who said Gossling was despised on that show because he really felt he was the most experienced and talented actor on the show.
He liked to give other actors notes on their performances, and would quiz the director about how he planned to shoot a scene and then give his opinion on how it should be done.
He would rewrite his dialog because he felt it wasn't mature enough for his acting style and would interrupt takes if he felt the other actors weren't performing as well as he felt they should.

R212 I worked for CTV London for a number of years and was there when Ross Hull was on of the weather (it was called the A Channel at the time). He was a nice guy very down to Earth. He had given up acting in the early 00s and studied meteorology. He's been with his partner for about a decade now.
Todd van der Heyden I've met and, yup, he seems like a creep. Granted he came out late and I think he may just be making up for lost time. He was with a younger guy for 5 or 6 years but they broke up a year or two ago.
by Anonymous | reply 218 | August 11, 2019 4:27 PM |
Great info R218.
The first time I saw Ross doing the weather was on the weather channel and I thought how sad it was that his acting career never took off. But really, I think he's far better off than so many other former Canadian child actors who still try to get acting work with little success.
Clearly he made the right decision to pursue an education and get a real job.

I worked as a Script Supervisor for a number of different production companies for almost 20 years from the late 90s until 2015. I'm now retired and having nothing to do with the industry. Canadian TV production is fairly boring in all honesty but here's a couple little factoids some might enjoy.
Ian Tracey- Da Vinci's Inquest - had major anger management issues. I had no proof but might have been a coke head.
Yannick Bission - Sue Thomas F.B.Eye - Handsome, shy, and very short with a phat ass. Wardrobe ordered special shoes for him and also occasionally had him stand on boxes in order to appear taller than Deanne Bray. I was told by a wardrobe assistant (no idea if this is true) that they had to let the waist out in the back of his pants to fit his butt.
Paul Gross - Slings & Arrows - by far one of the nicest actors I've ever had to deal with. He and his wife sent my husband and I a $500 gift card for Bed, Bath & Beyond when we got married in 2006.
Mary Walsh - Open Book - fucking hilarious. Interestingly she HATES Rick Mercer. I don't know the details but something went down between the two of them during 22 Minutes.
Zaib Shaikh - Metropia - very uncomfortable doing gay love scenes. He wasn't out right homophobic but he was nearly throwing up after each take.

R220 & R221 There was a book which came out last year marking the 25th anniversary of 22 Minutes. The Rick/Mary feud was lightly touched upon but basically there was a struggle for creative control. Also Rick became the break away star of the show and based on what was said by other cast members, it didn't sit well with them. As his star rose with the CBC, he began to act like he was too good for the show. Mary does openly acknowledge she was pissed when Rick left 22 Minutes only to start his own news parody as she felt it lacked originality. Rick admits he only agreed to do it because he wanted to move to Toronto permanently. Mary was still less than positive about Rick in a Globe & Mail interview a few years ago when she was asked about the Mercer report going off the air.

A few tidbits, as I grew up in Toronto and have friends and connections in “entertainment” circles:
- Donovan Bailey was always rude to servers and tipped poorly or not at all.
- Christie Blatchford, a blemish on Ontario, is a total weirdo which makes sense. At a party in the 90s she decided to raid the underwear drawer in the hosts’s bedroom, wrote some weird things on the mirror with lipstick, all while laughing like a hyena.
- Rumour has it that Lainey Lui has to write only positive posts about Me-again Sparkles on her blog because her boss is Ben Mulroney at etalk, and he’s friends with Me-again and his wife is her stylist.
- Speaking of Ben’s wife, she’s has so much work done to her face but it hasn’t helped, still scary up close.
- Dillon Casey is a mess to date. Check out his IG to get a sense of what he’s like. Seems hot on tv but definitely not in real life.
- Saw Shawn Mendes downtown at night with another guy, they were being playful with each other but not more than that (was in a public place)
- The Weeknd came to a party I was at. There were many gorgeous young women there but he did not seem to look at even one of them the whole time. Was also very short like 5’4”. Definitely pings.
- Michael Cera is awkward in real life, very shy. But polite and nice.
- Rachel McAdams is extremely sweet, poised, and down to earth.
- Knew a few actors on Degrassi Next Gen. Not much to say about them, other than a lot of the female former actors try to pay their bills as Insta-hoes endorsing Tummy Tea and such.
- Don’t forget that drama with the lead singer of Hedley and his sexual misconduct with 14 yr old girls on social media! I don’t have any insider knowledge about it but thought it deserved a mention. -

Apparently there are a lot of Mormons involved with the show.
There's also a very strict "no drugs, no drinking and no sex" rule when they're touring and doing live events and it's enforced as evidenced by a popular cast member being written out of the show during his second season for having multiple trysts while on tour.
Several of the cast members, boys and girls, over the seasons have been closeted.

I don't know if he's gay R252 but I once talked with a lesbian in the Canadian music biz who said throughout his career he surrounded himself with a lot of people in the business who are gay, in Canada and around the world. She also said he's extremely wealthy from all the song writing, publishing, producing, touring and collaborations he did over the decades.
He did a song for the gay community called The Truth Will Set You Free on his 1988 album Young Man Running. It was remixed and released again and he made it clear it was a gay anthem:
[quote]In 2012, Hart's 30th year in the music industry, he collaborated with Canadian DJ 1Love on a remix of the song "Truth Will Set You Free" from Young Man Running. The single, "Truth Will Set U Free", was released globally to radio, and on Hart's website in June 2012 via Siena Records/Warner Music Canada.[45] The song was Hart's first U.S. single in 20 years and Hart reunited with Meiert Avis for the video. "Truth" was originally penned for friends in the music business who were born gay, according to Hart, and disseminating the message of the song took on new resonance after 1Love approached him for permission to remix it.[46] With the Canadian Top 40 success of "Truth Will Set You Free", Hart made appearances at Pride celebrations in Toronto and London over the summer of 2012.

R282 Well given that Bryan Singer is known to have a major fetish for identical twins, I think it's a foregone conclusion stuff went down between him and the Ashmore twins. It's safe to ASSume how Shawn landed his role in X-Men. My understanding is Singer met Aaron through Shawn and that Singer had originally cast Aaron as Jimmy Olsen in Superman Returns but for some reason the role went to Sam Huntington (Aaron would actually be cast as Olsen in Smallville the following year). Both Shawn and Aaron are married (to women) with kids now - not ruling out one or both are bi - but it's likely whatever happened with Singer was more for career purposes than anything else.
I actually think Shawn is slightly better looking than Aaron, but Aaron seems like the more outgoing and fun one.
by Anonymous | reply 288 | October 26, 2019 2:25 PM |
R288 this may be cold tea but it's still tasty & spicy.
I didn't know Bryan has a twin fetish. I wonder if in all his nefariousness he fucked both Ashmores? If just one went with him but not the other and only for a role then I imagine that would have created tension, awkwardness or hard feelings between the brothers for quite a while (though I guess when competing with your sibling in the same profession that's a given, unless you're an Olsen).
Logically what you say makes sense, though, especially if you consider that Singer subtextually implied Shawn's X-Men character was gay. Whether they're gay/bi or not it must still have been a shock for the young Ashmores meeting with the Casting Couch, which as I understand it is not a ubiquitous necessary expectation in Canadian film.
by Anonymous | reply 289 | October 26, 2019 2:51 PM |
R289 Singer's fetish for twins has been hinted at for years. He allegedly was a big fan of watching identical twins perform sexual acts on each other.
The casting couch exists in Canada but not with the same severity as in Hollywood. The Canadian industry in tiny with next to no money which is why so many Canadian actors end up moving to the States. Now, X-Men was a big Hollywood blockbuster being shot in Canada so it's safe to assume many young actors would have willingly presented hole or mouth (or both) to land a role in a major film like that. It could have meant the start of a major movie career south of the border.
Based on things I've read, I don't think Singer met Aaron until after Shawn had been cast in X-Men and had started filming. After that, Singer did seem closer to Aaron. I am assuming he had both twins. I don't think Shawn won the part simply on his talents (acting talents anyways) and Aaron was Singer's first choice for Jimmy Olsen in Superman Returns. Aaron also lived with Singer for a period of time, so I mean connect the dots.
by Anonymous | reply 290 | October 26, 2019 3:37 PM |
I think we can safely assume that any good looking young male actor who got a part in a Bryan Singer movie was hired via the casting couch. As for the Ashmore twins, they are not technically identical twins. Aaron is taller than Shawn and there are slight facial differences. Aaron has a rounder face and until he got a hair transplant, he was balding. Shawn is the better actor and cuter.

This really isn't gay gossip but Scott McGillivray was my landlord back when I was a student at the University of Guelph in the early 2000s. He was a douche and a terrible landlord. It was a house that had been converted into a couple units and there was constant problems with the heat and water. The furnace needed to be replaced and he did nothing to the point a couple of the tenant had to go to the board which ordered him to replace it. Also, I had group of university girls living next to me and he was kind of creepy with them.

Scott McGillivary's voice and hair annoy me. He always sounds like he needs to blow his nose, and some needs to tell him the 90s are over and at 40+ he needs to chop off the boy band haircut.

Anyone got alt-rock stories? Mostly interested in Junkhouse, Matthew Good, Our Lady Peace, Eric's Trip and of course the Hip. But hey, if you've got Odds or Zambonis or Barenaked Ladies intel I'll jump on that too.
IMO Matthew Good is the greatest songwriter currently living, and Gord Downie (RIP) was the best before him. Raine Maida can be great when he wants to me and the stars are in place, but he's gorgeous so it doesn't matter so much. I have a psychobilly crush on Tom Wilson too :hides:

R64 There were and are a shocking number of closeted gay men in conservative party circles throughout Canada. How do I know this? Because I used to be one. Thank god after university, I came to my senses and I went out into the real word and began to come out and meet new people the brain washing came undone.
Basically any white male conservative politician over the age of 30 is not married and has no links to a female partner is likely a closet case. John Baird is an open secret (he was even back when he was in the Harper government). Jason Kenney probably gay but is verrrrrrry Catholic and likely lives a celibate life. Yes, Kenney hired a young man right out of university to be an executive assistant in his office despite having zero experience and who quickly became a director and used to stand in for Kenney at public events which is generally something only spouses or partners do. After Harper lost, that young man remained in Ottawa and went onto to be a senior advisor with the party.
Even in the Ford government there are rumours about some MPPs. Sam Oosterhoff has a number of rumours most notably that he was involved with a male graduate student at Queens last summer. Stephen Lecce has had a bit of buzz of being involved in sexual assaults against male students during his time at Western in London, Ontario.

Thanks R220 for mentioning Paul Gross and R160 & R162 for explaining how the Canadian entertainment industry is different. I've always wondered why Paul Gross didn't make the hardcore jump that other Canadians have to US projects. He did Tales From the City and due South then seemed to mostly just do Canadian projects for Canada after.
He has, even at the looks and the talent to have made the leap or the straddle between both the US and Canadian entertainment industries, but he seems to prefer being strictly Canada only. Big fish, smaller pond?
It's too bad because I like him, but purely Canadian shows and most especially films rarely make it to US tv. The pandemic might change that a little since networks are looking for already done shows to fill up holes in scheduling.

Jason Kenney claimed to still be a virgin some years back, so I can definitely believe that he's in the closet/celibate for religious reasons.

[quote] I've always wondered why Paul Gross didn't make the hardcore jump that other Canadians have to US projects. He did Tales From the City and due South then seemed to mostly just do Canadian projects for Canada after.
His daughter Hannah Gross is an actress who works a lot in the US. She was on The Sinner and played DL Fave Jonathan Groff’s girlfriend on the David Fincher Netflix show Mindhunter.

R328 I believe Paul Gross was asked to reprise his role in More Tales of the City but was unable to do so because he was filming Due South at the time. When they did Further Tales of the City, he was filming Men with Brooms. From things Gross has said over the years in interviews, Tales was his US debut and he might have stayed but he was offered Due South shortly after filming of Tales had ended. He decided to take Due South partly because it would mean keeping his kids in Toronto which he preferred.

R321 I posted this on the Drag Race thread but I went to high school with Jimbo. He and I were in the same grade at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in London, Ontario. It was a large school for London but actually small around 700 students. I remember him (his real name is James Insell) because I had him pegged as one of the "gays" who was in the closet like him. All I remember of him was him being shy, usually hanging out with girls, kind of loner like me though.
by Anonymous | reply 332 | August 31, 2020 7:29 PM |
R329 I don't know if Jason Kenney ever publicly admitted it, but I do know that he was joking referred as the "40 year old virgin" in Ottawa circles back during the Harper days. Kenney's assistant, whose name is Christopher, still works for the Conservatives Party at their HQ in Ottawa. I honestly don't believe their relationship was sexual though I'm sure Kenney was attracted to him and I'm sure his assistant used that to his advantage to get promoted.
John Baird is infamously gay and there are so many allegations of inappropriate behaviour with young men in the public service. I know some have actually spoken to the CBC about their dealing with Baird but they do not wish to air the story unless formal charges are brought up against him.

R334 Yeah, Mike Gibbs is one among several guys who've split the beans about Baird. That being said, Gibbs is a little "out there" though to his credit his very open about his mental health and past issues with drugs. He later claimed he was the only reason Baird didn't run for the leadership which isn't true. The major reason was he had no path to victory. The real reason was he has too many skeletons in his closet and no broad support. There was no viable path to victory for him.
The Conservatives biggest loss was Rona Ambrose. I actually think she could have beaten Trudeau in last year's election. She was highly regarded, well spoken, a moderate, as pro-LGBT as you can get for a conservative. However, I believe she saw the writing on the wall with the direction her party was going in e.g. far-right nut jobs and got out as quickly as she could.

I love this thread. I've lived in Canada all my life and I have learned a lot from this thread.
Hearing how Paul Gross is such a nice person is great. For some reason I (wrongly) assumed he was very egotistical.
I wish I could contribute something. The best I have is I once served Sook Yin-Lee at a concert hall. She was completely obnoxious, spoke up speak, and was all over her boyfriend as I was trying to serve her. I found her a complete airhead, which was disappointing. This was a few years before Shortbus came out.
I also served Janna Lynn White over the phone inquiring about tickets. She was a host on City-Tv's The New Music (she interviewed Madonna for Bedtime Stories). I always liked her. But like Sook-Yin, she was completely obnoxious on the phone. She was inquiring about a Christmas Eve event which would sell out every year and she was calling the week before and was incredulous that it was pretty much sold out. She was kind of a bitch. Disappointing.
A woman I used to hang out with said her stepmother was good friends with Dini Petty. Dini was apparently a real bitch and every time she'd call my friend's house, she would say "It's DINI PETTY CALLING...". We would always laugh about that.

R356 van der Hayden has been discussed on several threads but the consensus seems to be "creepy". He likes them young (legal young just to clarify) his current partner is in his early 20s. He came out late (after 30 I believe) and was married to a woman for a number of years. He's also good friends with CBC's Andrew Nichols. Nichols is a bonafide creep, one of those older guy types who still go to the bars and still think he can pick up at 20 something.
R352 Andrew Chang has been discussed too. Very short (some said he's around 5'4) but apparently very nice. Lives in mid-town Toronto with a wife and two young daughters.
A couple of others:
CP24's Bill Coulter is family. I actually knew him from my days at Western University. He lived in London, Ontario (2 hours west of Toronto) in the late 90s and early 00s working for the local Rogers TV station. In those days London was still home to the largest LGBT population in Ontario outside of Toronto and jokingly referred to as Church/Wellsley south by the community (although everyone still basically knew everyone by a couple degrees of separation). He was nice and got around a lot.
Ross Hull I also knew from his London days in the early 00s. He only lived in the city briefly but he also seemed nice loved it when people said they saw him on TV.

R362 I lived in London during the 90s, and it was totally a party city at the time. There was a significant gay community at the time mostly because the city was, at the time, the regional and economic hub of SW Ontario. There was never an official gay village per say, but numerous venues downtown. They city was also fucking conservative politically, lots of wealthy WASPS. I left in 2001 because my employer at the time closed it's regional office and moved us all to Toronto.

The Weston are massive tax dodgers. A few years back the CRA estimated that Loblaws owed over $15 billion in tax (the government even tried to sue them for it) but loopholes in the tax (which neither the Liberals and Conservatives are eager to close because their corporate donors, like the Westons, would be pissed) meant they got away with it.
Rona Ambrose got a huge cushy job with TD today. This is something we need to outlaw in Canada. Politicans always favour the corporate world over regular Canadians because they know once their done with politics, banks or other major financial player will put them on their payroll for the rest of their lives.

by Anonymous | reply 397 | September 2, 2020 4:55 PM |
R395, R224 I've posted this before on another thread. I used to work in the TV and film in Toronto and Vancouver from 1997 to 2012 mostly doing design and production logistics. I worked on Sue Thomas FBEye during the third (and final) season of the show as a production assistant. I have nothing but nice things to say about Yannick, he was such a nice man (hot as fuck too) and extremely easy to work with. He is actually very shy (almost painfully so) and devoted to his wife and daughter. He was slightly shorter than Deanne Bray, who is about 5'7 or 5'8, and for close ups they would have him stand on small boxes to appear slightly taller, and he'd wear platformed shoes for wide shots. And I can confirm that his suit pants were custom made due to his "hockey butt."
R396 Leslie Roberts was out privately, and within the industry, for ages, but didn't come out publicly until a few years ago. He has been with his partner for over twenty years. In the early 80s, he was married to a woman and had a daughter. I don't know the background but he ended up getting sole custody of his daughter after his divorce.
John Moore is gay and been with his partner for a very long time as well. They live in the Deer Park neighbourhood (Yonge/St. Clair) in Toronto. Based on some of his tweets, Moore appears to be a 'red tory' sadly.
Lisa LaFlamme was married to a man in her 20s but that's about all that's public. I know she lives alone in the Yonge/Eglinton area. I think she might just be a total workaholic.

by Anonymous | reply 402 | September 2, 2020 7:49 PM |
R402 on another thread someone posted about Hawco having an affair with a male actor while he was doing work at the Stafford Festival. And another poster wrote that his new wife was an out lesbian as well as being someone high up at the CBC. And someone else talked about the sweetheart deal he had with the NFLD gov't and used up most of their film budget to finance his TV show which pissed off a lot of people in entertainment there. I wish I could find the thread.
by Anonymous | reply 403 | September 2, 2020 11:36 PM |
R402, R403 Yeah, there have been rumours for a while that Allan Hawco is bisexual and fairly open about it until he achieved a certain amount of fame. I've heard that he had serious boyfriend back when he was doing theatre in Toronto in the early 00s. R403 I think some DLers talked about him on one of the have you every slept with a celebrity threads.
by Anonymous | reply 404 | September 3, 2020 2:32 AM |
Yes, R398, I think I may have read your post elsewhere, but that is a wonderful thing to hear that some actors are even more good-natured than you assume actors would be. And, after finding that certain actors you may have respected once are now spouting views (not political views, just views you disagree with) and they become a total boner-killer, but Yannick never seemed to be the vain primadonna a lot of actors come across as being. And it is great to hear from someone who worked with him that he was a real gentleman, something no one these days seems to know the meaning of.
And I know it is not an HDready clip, and I apologize. But damn that ass should be categorized. I wish I had HD screencaps at least. Sad face ... that would much rather be buried in Yannick's perfect asscheeks. I've had a hard-on since reading about the fitted trousers. I mean, really, pants that must be fitted to accommodate your perfectly round ass? I'm not even a top, and I remembering pausing this commercial on TV so me and my roommate could stare. I want to learn tailoring so I can at least have the pleasure of kneeling down and having big beautiful delicious asscheeks like that right in my face.
But so nice to hear that Yannick is a wonderful person. Always nice to hear that about an actor, especially these days.
by Anonymous | reply 405 | September 3, 2020 9:47 AM |
Back in the 90s I worked with a young woman who was among Yannick's circle of friends in Montreal. She had nothing but good things to say about him. I was invited to one of her parties where he would be in attendance but couldn't go. They were mostly an Outremont, private school, crowd though the woman I knew grew up in Hampstead and was distantly related to the Romanoffs. She talked openly about how snobbish her friends were but was quick to say that Yannick was one of the good guys.
by Anonymous | reply 406 | September 3, 2020 4:34 PM |
R398 I believe you when you say Yannick is shy. I remember seeing an interview with him on George Strumbo's show on CBC and you could tell he was really nervous and I remember his said his wife was in the audience because he really doesn't like giving interviews and she was there for moral support.

R408 Yeah there are definitely no gay rumours about George. He's got a reputation of being a total pussy hound. Also after he left CBC he moved to LA and allegedly took a downward spiral into drugs.
by Anonymous | reply 410 | September 3, 2020 7:45 PM |
Hey, R398, that is so wonderful (I need some new adjectives) to hear how shy Yannick is, and how he performs with staff who are not directly related to his work on-set. It is rather endearing, especially since I only viewed Yannick as an object who NEEDS to sit his ass on my face and let me do my work (of using my tongue to explore up and around that asshole). And whatever global catastrophe occurred ... yeah, I'm going to need Yannick to take his luscious ass into my tent. The only respite I would have is Yannick sitting right on my face.
I ... I don't know how society would function without having an ass like Yannick's available, and the only way to function and what they had to conserve energy by ... making a meal of Yannick Bisson's asshole. But anyway, I am glad that he is very shy and hopefully appreciative of his fans, AND is fully aware of the function of his fanbase. Come ON Yannick, stop teasing us!
Men are certainly waiting to have such delicious asscheeks offered up to them. I just wish they'd stop acting like it's annoying when it is; Yannick has delicious cakes. Who cares other than him that he's barely over the 1-minute mark? I need to see ASS. Stop trying to deny me that.
by Anonymous | reply 411 | September 3, 2020 8:16 PM |
Shit, I meant to add to my stories, but I am also 395 and 405 (and I also wrote 411 above), and am fairly drunk. Fuck, I just want to hear more stories of what a gentleman Yannick is, which I totally believe is real. I want to hear MORE of well-known athletes and/or hockey professionals ... guys with asses that were just TOO big to fit anywhere else. (Can you imagine delicious cheeks like that in your dream?)
Can you imagine ANY of these hocker players resting their beautiful buns on your face?

Wow, I live in Riverdale in Toronto. I used to occasionally see Yannick at... how Canadian is this?... Tim Hortons. Indeed, he is VERY handsome in person.
I saw Prince's last concert in Toronto. Strombo sat in front of me with his girlfriend. He was all over her the whole evening.
I've ran into Sergio Di Zio in person on Queen Street East. He is very good looking.
Although this is only a story I heard from a friend, I WISH I was there to witness it. My friend told me that a friend of hers was in an upscale grocery store in Etobicoke and Cynthia Dale was in line and was giving the cashier a hard time. I guess the person behind her had enough of how she was treating the cashier and he started telling her off. Apparently Dale said to him: "Don't you know who I am?"
The gentleman replied, "Yes. You're a bitch!"

I've always assumed Rosemary Barton was lesbian.
And what the hell happened with her on The National? They announced the new format with much fanfare, multiple hosts in different cities, so I tuned in for the debut and found it awkward. Rosie seemed uncomfortable.
A tuned in again a while later and there was Rosie, fatter and visibly perspiring. He eyebrows were drawn differently and badly. At times she seemed angry at someone off-camera. Tune in again and she's gone, and the show is better for it. I figured I'd see her back on Power & Politics but Vassey whatshername seems firmly rooted in her place.

R421, I think the CBC producers decided that 4 co-hosts was too many so they made Andrew Chang & Adrienne Arsennault the co-hosts for Monday to Thursday and then gave Ian Hannomansing the weekend slot from Friday to Sunday. Barton was made Chief Political Correspondent since she seems to feel more comfortable just covering politics.

R419 Last year, a former Western student came forward on Twitter and accused Lecce of being involved in hazing (which is banned by Western). Allegedly, after this guy came forward, more Western alumni recounted similar experiences. This guy's tweets go into detail about what happened, but there are other rumours of Lecce committing sexual acts during these types of hazing situations (cumming on guys faces, pissing in their mouths, making a new recruit eat a hot dog out of Lecce's and other senior frat members' rectums).
by Anonymous | reply 428 | September 5, 2020 3:29 AM |
R428, has the press followed up on any of those allegations against Lecce?
by Anonymous | reply 429 | September 5, 2020 3:37 AM |
R429 A few small newspaper outlets did pick up the story. Kyle, the person who tweeted these allegations, claims he did have discussions with people from CBC and CTV but it didn't go further. Both networks allegedly seemed hesitant to report the story based on a lack of substantive evidence. The Canadian media is very "sheepish" when it comes to sexual assault or stories about the sexual lives of politicians...it has been like this for decades. For example, the media has sat on stories about former conservative MP John Baird for years. Not a politician, but there had been gossip about Jian Ghomesi's treatment of women for years, but it was only finally reported when it became clear that police were going to press charges.

Re: Christine Elliott, this wouldn't shock me. She has been noticeably quiet during the pandemic even though she is the health minister. We see and hear Stephen Lecce with Ford all the time, but I can't remember the last time Elliott spoke or held a press conference.
They say that stress and emotional trauma and expedite the onset of Alzheimer's. In the last six years, her husband died unexpectedly, and she lost her run for the Conservative Leadership. The stupid thing is, she actually won more votes than Doug Ford on all three ballots, but he won more points. The Ontario Conservatives have a points system (similar to the US's electoral college) where leadership candidates are given points based on the riding they win during the vote. Ford had more points because he won slightly more riding in the GTA than Elliott. However, there has been a lot of gossip surrounding the legitimacy of that vote. Shortly after, it came to light that there were thousands of names on the voters' list who never voted nor were they even members of the party—the number of people who appeared to vote exceeded the number of people who submitted ballots. The OPP was investigating this, but that investigation was dropped. Should add, the Fords have strong connections within the OPP.

I used to see Chantal walking east along Cote Ste Catherine in Outremont, usually during afternoon rush and carrying several heavy tote bags of books, along with a big backpack. She was always hunched forward and listing to her right, such an uncomfortable posture, but she always had a big contented grin and happy looking eyes.
I was always driving west in horrible traffic and she was always walking on the opposite side of the street. A couple of times when I was giving a lift to a female co-worker, we took a chance up a side street to double back and offer her a lift home but each time she disappeared nearby. If you know the area it was somewhere between Davaar and McEachran.
She fits the Outremont Intellectual stereotype.

Can anyone fill in on what went on with Mike Gibbs? His twitter is full of stuff about Ontario politics, I know about his allegations against Baird (I believe him, 100%), and lately he's been tweeting about being a whistleblower. Is he talking about the Baird allegations or is there more?
by Anonymous | reply 462 | September 6, 2020 5:45 PM |
R462 I don't know the full story (he has always been somewhat vague about it) but he used to work in the Ontario Civil Service. Allegedly, he worked in Ontario health and claims he blue the whistle on Dr. Eric Hoskins the health minister under Kathleen Wynne. He claims this is why Hoskins left politics but his story doesn't totally line up with the fact. Hoskins left in 2018 (long after Gibbs left his job) and the reason he left was because he knew the Liberals were going to lose and Justin Trudeau was offering him a cushy post in Ottawa.
I believe Gibbs allegations about Baird, and he did work for the civil service, but he was fired due issues with drugs. I am not 100% convinced all of what he is says is based in reality.

R483 I don't think Patrick Brown is gay. Instead, he's bisexual and a sex addict. My ex-partner worked for CTV's Queen Park bureau, and Paul Bliss (the former Queen's Park Bureau Chief, who was fired after several sexual harassment allegations came to light) used to joke that Patrick Brown never met a hole he didn't like.
Now, I am not one to defend conservative politicians, but Patrick Brown was fairly pro-LGBTQ+. He was the first Conservative party leader to participate in Pride, and to his credit, he did try to rid the part of homophobic elements. He also dropped the opposition to gay marriage and pro-life rhetoric from the party's platform. Sadly, this effort is what got him pushed out of the party.
The far-right of the party hated him from day one. Since Trump's victory in 2016, the ultra-right surged in the party until the point that they became the majority. In January 2018, Brown released the party's election portfolio - which was basically liberal lite – and that was the final straw.
The gossip is that some people in the party knew of Brown's past issues with sex addiction and did some digging. Two women were brought forward to accuse Brown of assault. However, interestingly the moment Brown was out of the picture, those accusations disappeared.
by Anonymous | reply 497 | September 8, 2020 2:01 AM |

Yeah, R498, the whole "sex scandal" fell apart less than a month after he resigned as party leader. One of the women who claimed Brown sexually assaulted her claimed she was a minor and still in high school. That claim was later proven untrue - she was, in fact, 21 and in college. She also claimed a friend drove her to Brown's house were he later forced to perform oral sex on him. The friend she said drove her told the CBC he never once drove her to Brown's house. She never even mentioned Brown to him. The second woman claims that the sex was not consensual, but Brown's ex-girlfriend told the CBC that she was there the night the incident was alleged to have taken place, and Brown was never alone with the woman, and in fact, the woman was trying to initiate sex with Brown.
Brown later sued CTV (the channel that broke the story initially), and they (very quietly) out of court in October 2019.

I was happy for Brown, to be honest. It seemed like a set-up and I admire him for persevering especially when it was a time when the #metoo movement was at its peak. It just didn't ring true.

R503 His number are on the rise and the Liberals are now holding a 2 point lead over the Cons. I suspect if Trudeau is dumb enough to allow an election in the fall, we will end up with a Conservative minority. Sorry, Justin better back down and work with the NDP. Canada is fucked if we elect Cons.
by Anonymous | reply 504 | September 9, 2020 7:26 PM |
R504, remember that the Liberals lost the popular vote in 2019 but still won a lot more seats than the Cons.
by Anonymous | reply 506 | September 9, 2020 10:59 PM |
No such thing as popular vote in Canada, R506. That term was unheard of before in Canada until Scheer made it popular last year.
by Anonymous | reply 507 | September 9, 2020 11:04 PM |
R506 The reason for this was that the Liberals swept seat-rich Ontario. Liberals are still in the lead in Ontario, BUT their support is waning, particularly in the 905, with the most concentration of seats in the province. Historically, whomever the 905 votes for ends up forming a government.
Here's the thing, we already know the conservatives will vote against anything the Liberals propose in the Throne Speech. Trudeau can keep the government going with the NDP, but I think he wants an election. Strategically, it's best to strike while O'Toole is an unknown. Someone else on the thread said it best that an election now is Trudeau's best bet for long-term political survival. That being said, I think we're just going to end up with another minority. The country doesn't want an election. I believe COVID will negatively impact turn-out, particularly for left-leaning voters (many conservatives don't think that COVID is a severe threat and will turn up in larger numbers).

A friend of mine is a transwoman, and back when she started transitioning (like far too many transfolks) she was kicked out of her house and ended up turning to sex work to make ends meet. One of her regular clients was Jeff McArthur who is one of the hosts of Global's morning show. Allegedly, He was a sub and preferred being dominated and ass fucked while gagged. He also enjoyed face sitting (being the one sat on) and being edged. When my friend got her final surgery, he stopped seeing her because he prefers pre-op transwoman (chicks with dicks as he supposedly called it).

R509 I worked with Jeff McArthur back when he was a co-host of Daytime (a really cheap chat program on Rogers TV) in London back in the early 00s. He was a total perv with young women. He was in his early 30s and his girlfriend at the time was allegedly 20 but the rumours were she was actually still in grade 12. Anyways I remember at a holiday party I was at a table with him and some other guy and he was talking about how he took his girlfriend's virginity and how he busted her hymen good and got blood all over his dick. He also would ogle all the young women who worked or volunteered at the station. I am curious why he's still on Global because he has zero personality. He's not a "chat host" type.

Dan Levy from MTV and that shit creek show is an egotistical, vapid, energy leeching drama queen that made life on the set of MTV insufferable. He was not well liked behind the scenes by the majority of cast and crew.
Mike Myers (Wayne's World, Shrek, Austin Powers) is well known for being extremely hard to work with. He's a massive pain in the ass, cold, rude and is really not personable at all. Unless it's a paid appearance or an event for postitive media attention he's pretty much a completely unlikable kermudgeon.
Jim Carrey. Absolute scum bag, anti-vaxxer, riddleled with STDs (allegedly). Gave herpes to an ex-girlfriend (allegedly) and when she called him to ask for an explaination he lied to her and gaslit her saying she probably cheated on him (allegedly) and that's how she contracted it then dumped her like a bad habit. His refusal to admit or help in any way (allegedly) she tragically ended up killing herself.
Michael Bubbly (medicore x-mas singer old chubby ladies love for some reason). Secret drunk, rageaholic, serial cheater and wife beater (allegedly).
Justina Beiber is "secretly" gay, he used to bang a couple 'christian' pastor men a few years ago that "saved" him. Usher had a piece (allegedly) which is how he was able to get booked on the ellen degenerate show that plagued the world with his awful "music" and presenece.
Aubrey Graham grew up upper middle class and got famous from a super heavy handed show Dergrassi, I guess you could say it was Canada's version of a darker more gritty saved by the bell. He's a child groomer (allegedly).
Dan Aykroyd he's a drunk and is known to get into fist fights often. Pretty much hates public appearances and his fanbase unless they mention Blues Brothers. He always shows up to public things either drunk or hung over from partying the night before. I was at one opening where he showed up to promote his gross wine and he was quite rude to a boy with down syndrome and refused to speak to/acknowledge him. I actually got him to take off his sun glasses for a picture and he looked absolutely dreadful.
Shania Twain- Birth name is Eilleen (allegedly) fucked her way into her singing career. She's also known for being quite cold and stand off-lish behind the scenes.
Avril Lavigne, raging bitch monster. There is a reason someone like her got married to someone like chad kroeger.
Michael Cera - Tit mouse.
Celine Dion is absolutely is nuts as she appears (surprising no one) she was the child bride of a creedy old pedo-man which is how she got her start.
Kim Cattrall is just as much of a bitch as SJP which is why both have had virtually zero decent roles since SITC ended.
Liz Rigney, she used to be a news anchor on CTV news or some kind of morning variety show back in the day. She's a conservitive and secretly pretty anti-GLBT. Met her one time at a Blues festival and over heard her standing with her husband mocking the gays and the one drag queen that were standing outside of the only gay bar in town (that's closed now cause of covid) scoffing at them with a holier than thou attitude and Karen hairstyle that would bring an end to the ages.
Peter Brown that was on season one of Big Brother Canada (not an actual celebrity sorry). Shit stain of a human being.
Keanu Reeves got his start by being a rent boy back in his early days. He kind of went from rich man to rich man until he got his foot in the door with real acting roles (due to his male benefactors). That's the major part of the reason he's never linked up with a woman for long and always seems so miserable with a death wish. He regrets how he got his start, the fact a lot of the pictures from that time are out there, and more than a few know the "story" of how he got his start. That's not to say he isn't good person, every positive thing you've ever heard about him is true. He really is an amazing human being he just reviles himself for his past and losing a lot of close loved ones. He's still a treasure and we should all protect him.

531 He was closested to the point of not saying "I'm gay" but everyone and their mother knew he was a big homo, there is not a single straight man in existance with those queeny manerisms lol.
I don't have any personal stories of his hook-ups I'm sure he was getting deep dicked on the down-low somewhere, people will always find a wa to get dick when they want it. The no serious relationship part however is due to how vapid and selfish he is as a person. He can't stop talking about himself, looking at himself in the mirror or stop sucking all the attention out of a room long enough for a man to remain interested in him. Think Matt Bomber's character from the Will and Grace reboot except more feminine and bitchy along with being completely vapid and stupid also not nearly as attractive to forgive the stupidness.
Honestly in regards to the MTV aftershow crew probably the more interesting gossip would come from 1G5Gs, quite a few of them are bitchy vapid meanies (duh) that would either sleep with each other or complelely ignore each other out side of filming leading to a lot of the awkward conversations where you can just sense the tension.

R530 Thanks for this. I've posted on this thread before. I worked in the Canadian TV and film in industry for nearly 15 years (1998 to 2012) and I've heard some of this stuff. I never worked with Dan Levy, but yeah he developed a reputation for being a total bitchy queen when he was at MTV. I know for a fact that he and his co-host Jessi Cruickshank did NOT get along. In fact, Jessi does not follow him on twitter and has never said a word about his success on Schitt's Creek. The rumour is that Levy departure from MTV was a "mutual decision" which is code in the industry for being canned. That being said, I knew someone who worked as a production assistant on Schitt's Creek for the first three season and said Levy was fine to work with (maybe he matured), and that the person who couldn't stand was Annie Murphy. He said Catherine O'Hara was lovely, and Eugene Levy was nice but distant.
I didn't work with Kim Cattrall however a friend of mine did in Toronto when she filmed Sensitive Skin. The vast majority of the crew opted not to return for the second season because no one liked dealing with her.

Speaking of 1G5G, I went to high school with Ian Lynch (St. Thomas Aquinas London, Ontario...the same school Jimbo from Canada's Drag Race also went to). In high school, I actually knew Ian's twin brother Nolan better than Ian. Nolan was in a number of my classes and a really nice guy. Interestingly, Nolan was the funny one and Ian was much quieter. I found out Ian was gay during the summer between high school and university because we bumped into each other at the gay bars in town (in the early 00s London had a small but fairly vibrant gay scene) and we hung out a bit. When I was living in Toronto, I used to cross paths from time to time and he was always super nice and friendly with me. The last time I had an update from his was that he and his partner were moving back from Toronto to London as they bought a house in London together.

French-Canadian actor Francois Arnaud (best known for his work on The Borgias and Schitts Creek) came out as bisexual yesterday. Anyone ever have him?
by Anonymous | reply 541 | September 23, 2020 7:28 PM |
Wow, R541. Had no idea that Francois Arnaud was bisexual.
He showed his uncut French Canadian cock in a film a few years ago:
by Anonymous | reply 542 | September 23, 2020 11:36 PM |
So he's gay but his agent advised him that if he insists on coming out, he must do it 'slowly', so that all of his 'fans' can grow accustomed.
by Anonymous | reply 543 | September 24, 2020 12:21 AM |
“But here’s the thing,” Arnaud went on. “Silence has the perverse effect of perpetuating those stereotypes, making bi guys invisible, and leading people to doubt that we even exist. No wonder it’s still a chore to acknowledge bisexuality without getting into lengthy explanations. So yes, labels are frustrating and words, imperfect. But I’ve always considered myself bisexual. Not confused or trying to look edgy. Not disloyal. Not ashamed. Not invisible. Happy #bivisibilityday this Wednesday.”
by Anonymous | reply 544 | September 24, 2020 4:39 AM |
R543 I'll be honest, that was my initial thought too and it is a possibility. However, I think he's being honest. His statement doesn't sound like the typical, "I could totally see myself falling for a guy," line used by many closeted actors who eventually come out as gay. He sounds more "defiant," like some who is frustrated by having to "justify" being bi, knowing that people like us will automatically assume he's just gay and in denial, just as the people who see him with his girlfriend assumed he was straight. He says that masculinity is very fragile and he's right about that. Women can be bisexual and no one makes a big stink about, but when a man is bi he is still forced to feel he has to "pick a side."

Agreed. He's a good-looking actor and often cast as a romantic lead, so he's taking a risk by saying this. Many other gay/bi actors his age stay in the closet and pretend to be totally straight.
by Anonymous | reply 548 | September 24, 2020 12:08 PM |
I believe that Francois is bi and not a closeted actor. I lived in Montreal when I was going to Concordia, and he was living with French-Canadian actress and were often seen together around town (not being photographed or for PR purpses).
R548 I think it's awesome that he did this, but I don't think he's taking a huge risk. He's a Canadian actor and the majority of his work is based in Canada now. A "Hollywood" career didn't seem to happen after The Borgias. Canadians really don't give a shit about the private lives of homegrown talent. In fact, they only start caring about homegrown talent if that person gets famous in Hollywood.

Fab Filippo loved dick and was a voracious bottom who preferred non traditional looking men over pretty boys which was odd considering how pretty he was. When he started getting some fame with Buffy suddenly he was straight. I remember an interview he did with a small Canadian gay magazine talking about being straight and playing gay on QAF as if being gay was so foreign to him. He's married to a woman now and distanced himself as far away as possible from the gay community. Not sure what his private life is like now.
by Anonymous | reply 550 | September 24, 2020 7:12 PM |
R549, you're right that Arnaud did not become a big Hollywood star, but he does work in American t.v. and has often been cast as a romantic lead for women, so coming out as bisexual is still significant.
by Anonymous | reply 551 | September 24, 2020 11:51 PM |
R551 It is absolutely significant, but just to clarify most of Arnaud's work (even if American) is filmed in Canada. I do find it interesting that he's waited until now to come out as bisexual which makes me wonder if he's in a relationship with a man.

Jackie Burroughs was my parents' neighbour throughout the 90s and into the early 00s until my Dad retired in 2008 and they moved out of the Annex in Toronto and settled in Kingston. Jackie was super nice and had a reputation for being an eccentric character. Her house had a big porch and I used to come almost every weekend to visit my parents cause I went away to UWO for university. I remember turning the corner on to the street and during the summer she'd almost always been on her porch, cigarette in one hand a glass of vodka on the rocks in the other and usually a half drunk bottle of grey goose on the step where she sat. Her garden was always full of geraniums and she used to pick some and give them to my mom for her birthday. She was also super tiny, looked younger in person, but I think she lived on smokes, and while I don't think she was an alcoholic, she was a drinker for sure.

I've been debating about posting this for a while because I could lose my job if it's traced back to me. So I decided to redact the celebrity name, so I apologize for the guessing game that may ensue.
I work for a post-secondary educational institution in Toronto. One of our academic programs is connected to the television and film community in Toronto, and it allows students to engage in summer internships. A few years back, a female student (most of our students are between the ages of 18 and 20) was awarded an internship on a tv show on a well-known cable network. This show fell into the DIY home stuff while it was produced for and filmed in Canada, it also aired on the American version of this network.
The host of the show (Canadian), who comes across as a friendly family man, allegedly got this young female intern pregnant and pressured her to have an abortion. Allegedly, the network also tried to buy her silence under the pretext that they had enough sway with our school to have her kicked out of the program. Her story only came to light after the fact when a group of female students complained about alleged unwanted sexual advances and inappropriate behaviour by the show's host. As the institution began to investigate, this student came forward as well. The school mostly hushed up the story; however, this show's network was removed from the school's approved internship list.

I have two pieces of political gossip:
Doug Ford: Allegedly won the ONPC leadership through fraudulent means. People close to his campaign managed to gain person information (through the 407 driver database) to add names to the voter list. "Actors" posed as these people and voted for Ford in key 905 ridings to give him the points he needed to win. ONPCs have a point-based system where ridings are given points based on population. Basically, if you get the most populated ridings you win the leadership even if you didn't in the popular vote (Christine Elliot won the popular vote). The OPP investigated this, and charged one or two party insiders...however the investigation into Ford's campaign was quietly dropped in early 2020, and several months later, Ford gave the OPP a $25 million funding increase.
Michael Trudeau, the youngest brother of Justin Trudeau, was allegedly in the process of coming out when he died in the late 90s. Allegedly, he was out to Justin and his mother. This is why Justin allegedly has been so passionate about LGBTQ+ rights.

R578, that's interesting about Justin Trudeau's younger brother Michel being gay and being one of the reasons why Justin is pro-gay rights.
Here's a pic of Justin with Michel. It was not long after this that Michel was lost in the avalanche:

I've seen Christine Elliott, the health minister in the Ford Government, being discussed further up. Yes, there are rumours about her health, but the rumours I have heard are that she has a drinking problem. Mike Gibbs on Twitter also strongly suggested that Elliott is a "functional alcoholic."

Christine Elliott is still out there every day at the COVID briefings, so she seems okay for now.

I've heard what's her name from that show is a lesbian, true?

R583, do you mean Rosemary Barton? Yes, there are rumors that she is a lesbian.

R582 That's the thing about functional alcoholic or drug addicts, they are able to function normally. The rumour started because a few times in the last year Elliott seemingly slurred some words during a few interviews and is seen at LCBO regularly.

R584 Yes there are rumours about Rosemary Barton, Adrienne Arsenault and CTV's Lisa LaFlamme.

Is Doug on crack? He’s talking about reopening

Trudeau getting hammered on his "limits to freedom of expression" statement.

R587 I don't know if he's on it, but he used to deal it. Yeah, but basically today his government surrendered to COVID and has prioritized bars, restaurants, and gyms over hospitals.

He's re-electioneering.

So here is the tea on the Ford government in Ontario:
Doug Ford: Former drug dealer who barely made it through high school. He has been under criminal investigation more than once but it never went to charges thanks to family connections in the OPP and Toronto Police.
Christine Elliott: Is an alcoholic.
Stephen Leece: Gay (his profile has been spotted on Tinder and Grindr). Has been accused of sexual assault against male students during his time at Western, but most of those stories have gone unreported in the press as they were unsubstantiated.
Sam Oosterhoff: Gay. He allegedly was dating a graduate student at Queens in the summer of 2019. There have been numerous reports on reddit of him trolling men in bathrooms in Toronto.

Who’s Ben Mulroney dating? Rumors abound that he’s got a couple of men who he sees on the DL. Any famous names?

Is there any gossip/news on Scott Thompson? I was surprised he didn't make an appearance on Canada's Drag Race.
by Anonymous | reply 593 | November 23, 2020 6:33 PM |
R592 Ben Mulroney is married to Jessica Mulroney ... but yes there have been rumours for years about Ben being deeply closeted.
by Anonymous | reply 594 | November 24, 2020 1:56 AM |
R593, the people who run Canada's Drag Race are too hipster to want to deal with people like Scott, Carole Pope, etc.
Ben Mulroney ain't queer. Sorry to disappoint.
Might some kind Canadian start a Canadian Gossip 2 thread?

Theo Fleury has totally lost his mind. He's always been a douche but people have given him a pass because of his past. He's completely and utterly obsessed with Justin Trudeau, to the point where you have to wonder if he's got the hots for him.
by Anonymous | reply 597 | December 30, 2020 11:51 AM |
Fleury's likely become virulently anti-Trudeau/anti-Liberal because he doesn't get the same recognition as a survivor of child sexual abuse/victims' advocate that he did under Harper. Saw him speak at a victims rights conference once - while the intro was about his advocacy, his speech was incredibly self-absorbed.
