Ann Dowd and Margo Martindale

I started watching The Leftovers yesterday - the pilot didn't grab me when it first aired - and I realised I can't tell Dowd and Martindale apart, even though I've seen both of them in about a hundred different things over the years.

Anyone else have that problem? And what's the consensus on these two, anyway?

I like Margo, but I think Ann is the better actress.

Ann Dowd in the penultimate episode of The Leftovers is one of my favorite performances ever. She really should have won the Emmy that year for it.

I can tell them apart, but they radiate the same energy. They should play sisters in a mini-series and win more Emmys.

So true that they look alike.

Love both but I prefer Martindale just for her Americans character.

OP, there should have been an option for: Who?

R5 = Either a philistine or a straight woman

You forgot Harriet Sansom Harris, OP.

r7 Shit, you're right! And she has two TV projects lined up that I'm very interested in, "Atlantic Crossing" and "Ratched".

I loathed the first season of The Leftovers and had to be convinced years later to watch the other two seasons. They were remarkable. And Dowd was awesome.

Margo on "The Americans" was simultaneously pure menace and your favorite aunt.

If we lived in a fair world these two would be our M & G

This Leftovers tilts the balance towards Dowd. Love them both tho.

At least Martindale got the chance to understand the mystery.

No joke, r11.

M & A has a much nicer ring to it!
