I know this poll is full of generalities.
Which part of the country contains your favorite type of Americans?

Why didn't you have a "northeast" selection? Not all of the northeast is part of New England or mid Atlantic.

r1 thanks for pointing out one of the poll's weaknesses!

Aren't Deep South and Southeast pretty much the same thing except for Florida?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 12, 2019 12:58 AM |
I could be wrong, r6, but I consider southeast Georgia, Florida, Carolinas, Virginia. Deep South I consider Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, parts of Tennessee and Arkansas ...

You’re probably right, R7.

New England -White on white, Polo and Sweaters and cocktails
NYC - It's all about me, pizza, pretzels and overpriced real estate.
Mid Atlantic - Conservative middle class bores and Trumptards
Appalachia - Dollywood and lots of inbreed white trash
South East - Fun, Flamboyant, love guns, drugs and mostly Trumptards
Deep South - Good old boys, friendly bears.
Midwest - White corn fed all American looking guys
Southwest - White and hot Hispanic gays, very racist straights.
West Rocky Mountains - It's 420 somewhere
West Coast - Ethnically diverse, open minded, friendly, laid back, health conscious, your waiter, is either a model or actor
Pacific Northwest - Geek out

I like your synopsis r9!

New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are the Northeast but are NOT New England or Mid Atlantic states.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 12, 2019 2:46 AM |
Pennsylvania is the mid-Atlantic. So is New Jersey.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 12, 2019 2:49 AM |
R12- That map is WRONG.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 12, 2019 2:51 AM |
Puerto Rico.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 12, 2019 2:52 AM |
There should have been a separate section for New York, or at least the Tri-State Area.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 12, 2019 2:53 AM |
R12, California is definitely west coast personified vs. whatever Pacific southwest is. Colorado doesn't seem like it has too much in common with the other mountain (militia) states.
No matter what OP, it's difficult to make this poll with only 10 options.

Is the dictionary also wrong? And Wikipedia?
[quote] relating to states on the middle Atlantic coast of the US, typically including New York, Pennsylvannia, New Jersey, West Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 12, 2019 3:11 AM |
It seems wrong, R17, given that West Virginia is neither on a coast or by the Atlantic. Culturally it’s also very different from the others.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 12, 2019 5:25 AM |
North Carolina is NOT mid-Atlantic, but it is colored as such in R12's map. NC is very firmly a Southern/Southeaster region.
Really Mid-Atlantic is VA (and mostly just NoVA at that), MD, DC, and DE. Pennsylvania and Jersey are a sort of as well, though they likely have more in common with the New England region states.

What the hell is “west coast”? Interstate 5 is over 1,300 miles long.
