"They All Laughed" (1981)
I'm not laughing. What is this movie about? It's just the camera following Dorothy Stratten around NYC; a bunch of ugly, boring people walking around; and John Ritter doing the same character Ryan O'Neal played in "What's Up, Doc?".
Was this the nail in coffin for Bogdanovich's career?

He directed Mask four years later, so his career did survive the non-laughter.

I remember trying to watch this on HBO in the early '80s. I think I made it to the 45 minute mark and changed the channel.

I've always loved this movie. HBO used to show it all the time in the early 80's. It's such a product of it's time . Great depiction of NYC in the early 80's.

I've never seen the film, it looks dull. I know it was supposed to be a star making turn for Dorothy . The over the top hagiography Bogdonavich pushed about Stratten in his book was so ridiculous.

Trust me but after the critical and BO response to At Long Last Love and to Daisy Miller, Bogdonovich's coffin didn't need any more nails.

Yep, the big movie that supposed to show Dorothy was destined to be a superstar. But it sucks, so actually there's no proof Dorothy could've even made a living as an actress, let alone a big star.
