Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers look amazing for their age
He's 89 and she's 76, but they each look decades younger. She's even had lung cancer. How do they do it?
I realize they've have plastic surgery, but it was VERY good plastic surgery, especially for him. It's rare to see facelifts that look this good on men.

R63, looking back (and going just on memory), I seem to recall that "Hart to Hart," which was usually a top 15 or 20 show during its first four seasons, had its previous lead-in, "Nine to Five" (based on the movie) taken away by ABC and replaced by the late, great Madeline Kahn's sitcom, "Oh, Madeline," which was a critical and ratings disaster. Unfortunately, because "Madeline" was a flop, it was also a ratings drain on "Hart," which saw its numbers plummet as a result. (They were also against NBC's powerhouse Tuesday night lineup, which included "A-Team" and "Remington Steele.") Anyway, "Hart to Hart" could never recover and so ABC pulled the plug on both them and "Madeline."
On a rather strange side note, I also remember a bit of chatter at the time that viewers had a negative reaction to Stefanie Powers' new haircut, preferring the more voluminous hair she had had in the previous seasons, and that that also contributed to the ratings decline. Take that for what you will.

Rigor mortis hadn't taken place yet = she had been dead for less than an hour. He didn't put the down jacket on her to sink her. It was an act of remorse . Hé didn't kill her in cold blood. They were out of their mind boozed and quaaluded up. He went into a drunken rage fit that ended in her being irresponsive in the water, then quaaludes prevented any of them to quickly evaluate the situation and before they knew it, she was dead.

Really, R83? And I suppose the authorities drew blood from Wagner and Walken (sounds like a law firm or a vaudeville act) many hours after the fact to determine what they had ingested the evening before? Please.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | June 3, 2019 8:13 PM

Well, it's a known fact that the mafia still controled Hollywood completely at the time. Natalie had always been Sinatra 's plaything since she was a teenager, and they kept the dirty laundry within the family. Neither Wagner nor Walken were ever detained and tested, as should have been the case in regular circumstances. Natalie' s tests showed her alcohol level was still through the roof 12 hours after they had left the restaurant in Catalina. À long with ' prescription drugs'. The captain confessed he had provided them with tons of quaaludes that Wagner had never tried before. It's an established fact that there was a martha/George-like marathon fight that night on board. Furniture was smashed. The only mystery in this case is ' why the husband not in jail ? '

She was drunk and pissed off at him and being drunk and pissed off at him she decided to show him! She left the boat tried to board the dinghy and the rest, as they say, is history.

People love to make up stories. If there was any real evidence Robert Wagner "killed" Natalie Wood it would have long since come to light. Same with Marilyn Monroe. If there had been any hard evidence that she'd been murdered (by JFK, or RFK, or the CIA, or the Mob, or her psychiatrist) it would have been revealed long ago.
Some trivia. Natalie Wood was actually in the running to play the lead in the famous tv mini-series. She was the casting director's first choice for Sybil, but the screenwriter turned Wood down.

Wagner was discovered by talent agent Henry WIllson, who also represented Rock Hudson and Tab Hunter. Willson sold gay gossip on Hunter to bury stories about Hudson, but was later, himself, outed. He was abandoned by clients before dying of cirrhosis and being buried in a then-unmarked grave that now reads "Star Maker".
[quote]The handsome young [Hudson] soon caught the eye of Hollywood Talent agent, Henry Willson. Willson was responsible for the “Beefcake” craze of the 1950’s and 60’s, he was notorious for “scouting talent” at gay bars all over Los Angeles.
[quote]His stable of hot young male actors included Guy Madison,Troy Donahue, Tab Hunter, Chad Everett, Robert Wagner, Rory Calhoun and Doug McClure. Roy was quickly renamed Rock Hudson and he would become Henry Willson’s most successful creation.
