She's a big lady and has always been so brassy and full of self-confidence. The first time I'd ever seen her in anything was the 70s sitcom Hot L Baltimore.
I loved her in Mystic Pizza... "The BEST pizza!!"

Here she in in the Broadway stage play of Hot L Baltimore before the sitcom.

She was always a scene-stealer in Two and a Half Men.

She showed up on Maude toward the end of season two as a replacement for Florida. I guess the showrunners decided to go in a different direction because when they returned for the new season Maude was without a housekeeper for a few episodes and then they introduced Mrs. Naugatuck.
My mother always mentioned how much she enjoyed Conchata's performances whenever she appeared on a show. She got a kick out of her.

She was so great on Two and a Half Men. I can’t believe Charlie Sheen fucked that whole thing up. I’d still be watching it if they had new episodes.

I always thought she should have been a bigger star, though she did have s good career.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 26, 2019 3:23 AM |
This is a great movie with Rip Torn. It’s a drama and she was wonderful.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 26, 2019 3:24 AM |
Great character actress.
Also loved her in Mystic Pizza.
I never made the connection until later that she was in Erin Brokovich as one of the women who works in Edward's office and who Erin calls a bitch. A mini-Mystic reunion with Conchata and Julia Roberts.

I always thought she and Taylor Holland would be great in a spin off of two and a half men. Berta could go work for Evelyn and they raise an orphaned little girl together and call it Two and a Half Women.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 26, 2019 3:32 AM |
She’s a great actress. She’s also fat and repulsive.

You are right about Heartland R7.
I also loved her in Hot L Baltimore! What a blast from the past!

Bite my ass, Kristen Kreme!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 26, 2019 3:50 AM |
Heartland was really good.

What was the deal with her stint on L.A. Law? I saw she was nominated for an Emmy for her role, but only lasted one season on the show.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 26, 2019 3:52 AM |
R14. She didn’t make her exit off LA Law “falling” down an elevator shaft like Maria Muldaur did.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 26, 2019 4:03 AM |
L.A. Law had a bad track record with adding new cast members during the later years of the show. Few seemed to click with audience.

I loved her on the E/R sitcom as "Thor".

[quote] Taylor Holland
Oh, dear.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 26, 2019 4:18 AM |
Wow. Where is her black husband??
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 26, 2019 4:22 AM |
The female actresses and characters were better than the male on Two and a Half Men.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 26, 2019 5:29 AM |
R15: That's Diana Muldaur. Maria Muldaur was a singer/songwriter.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 26, 2019 5:33 AM |
Well she obviously don’t go for no fancy movie star teef.

Camryn Manheim is the poor person's Conchata Ferrell.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 26, 2019 6:02 AM |
I'm amazed she is still alive being so obese her whole life.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 26, 2019 11:46 PM |
She was brilliant as Romanian judge Millie Simionescu in the made for tv film Nadia...
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 26, 2019 11:53 PM |
It was off-Broadway, r1. She also did The Sea Horse in 1974 for which she received a Drama Desk and Theatre World award.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 26, 2019 11:57 PM |
R25 the only reason she got the role was because Millie was also very fat. Speaking of which, that’s why I found her unbelievable in Hot l Baltimore. A fat hooker is quite depressing.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 27, 2019 12:12 AM |
Aw, take a Zoloft and snap outta it, r27!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 27, 2019 12:15 AM |
Love Conchata. Very funny, reliable character actor who's also very effective with dramatic parts.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 27, 2019 12:28 AM |
Here's an interview she did in 1981 with a twink who probably now posts on this site (and I know he's not dead because I looked him up).
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 27, 2019 12:32 AM |
She was quite enjoyable in Network as one the bureaucrats
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 27, 2019 1:16 AM |
R31-The way they're dressed looks so late 1970's still.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 27, 2019 1:48 AM |
r30 I quite agree. Check out the episode of "Frank's Place," she played an attorney who was trying to get a settlement for an elderly black client, who had worked for the lawyer's family. A very moving piece, co-starring the wonderful Beah Richards.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 27, 2019 2:57 AM |
She got to deliver Paddy Chavesky's classic "crusty but benign" mini-monologue as one of the network programmers in Network.
One of the smartest, funniest moments in film history.
That lucky bitch.
[quote]Barbara : These are those four outlines submitted by Universal for an hour series. You needn't bother to read them; I'll tell them to you. The first one is set at a large Eastern law school, presumably Harvard. The series is irresistibly entitled "The New Lawyers." The running characters are a crusty-but-benign ex-Supreme Court justice, presumably Oliver Wendell Holmes by way of Dr. Zorba; there's a beautiful girl graduate student; and the local district attorney who is brilliant and sometimes cuts corners. The second one is called "The Amazon Squad." The running characters include a crusty-but-benign police lieutenant who's always getting heat from the commissioner; a hard-nosed, hard-drinking detective who thinks women belong in the kitchen; and the brilliant and beautiful young girl cop who's fighting the feminist battle on the force. Up next is another one of those investigative reporter shows. A crusty-but-benign managing editor who's always gett... [Diana cuts her off]

"The New Lawyers" sounds awesome!

Conchata should star in "The Shelley Winters Story" ASAP
I would watch that
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 27, 2019 3:58 AM |
What a great career she's had!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 27, 2019 5:02 AM |
The thing is is that "I" myself know and love her and have since at least 1974 from the movie of the week and such but I'll be damned if I can reasonably name any of those movies. I remember Hot L Baltimore for some odd reason even though I was barely 13.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 27, 2019 5:27 AM |
She did a great job in her role in Edward Scissorhands!
