A missed opportunity for M, as little to no acting skill was required.

Sally Struthers

She was too tall. Mother Jefferson was a little spitfire.

Whoever it was couldn't do Zara Cully's voice. Which surprised me, because Wanda Sykes, as Louise imitating Mother Jefferson, could do it almost perfectly (even though she couldn't do Isabel Sanford's distinctive rasp).

If you’re a horror fan and you thought Mother Jefferson looked familiar, you probably remember her from Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, where she played Freddy Krueger.

It was weird to me they could not find someone better known and funnier. That's such a plum cameo.
