The only reason people gave a fuck about her and Avenatti was because they were anti-Trump. People invested so much in them even though they were clearly horrible people. Even if it was proven that Trump violated campaign finance laws in paying off Stormy Daniels, that was never going to take him down, it is something that campaigns pay a fine over. Some thought it would make his base leave him, but really his base already knew he was a scumbag in his personal life, through his decades of life in the public eye, and had made peace with it. I never understood what people really thought those two were going to accomplish.

R6 That is what I said in R4, but campaign-finance violations do not bring politicians down, unless they are clearly using them to enrich themselves. Usually, the campaign pays a fine and that is it.

I didn't know whether to believe Stormy Daniels 100%. Supposedly, she got paid to be silent and then talked. I know her story is that the guy depicted in the sketch below threatened her to keep silent. Also, part of the code of being a prostitute is discretion. I'm not saying that Donald deserves discretion, but it's a matter of professional integrity. Lots of other jobs require discretion, e.g., doctors.

I bought her book months ago but haven't read it yet.

I was never under the impression that she was asking for sympathy. As R13 says, she is unapologetic about what she does and her past, and she dealt with the Dotard head-on. I genuinely hope she made money from it all.

And she said in the past that Michael Avenatti stole all the money that was supposed to go to her from the go fund me accounts. She may have ended up with a little bit of money from the book sales, which were not that impressive, but most of it we spend on appearances and security etc. I don't think she's walking away with money

She's fun and charming but the praise for her in liberal circles was waayyy too over the top. The "you go girl you're my hero " cheerleading from young feminist journalists was particularly eye roll inducing. Americans tend to be borderlines in the way that they view public figures :either some one is completely good or completely bad. I like her but never fully trusted her (or Avenatti for that matter ).
