Blouse Barn suffered the same fate but I think that's because David screwed up all the displays.

We're not making fun of people losing their jobs. We're making fun of Dress Barn.

by Anonymousreply 6May 21, 2019 12:55 AM

What self-respecting woman would want to shop at a place called Dress Barn?

by Anonymousreply 7May 21, 2019 1:02 AM

We're still around and ready to welcome more members into the fold.

by Anonymousreply 8May 21, 2019 1:04 AM

It gets added to the list of the fallen along with Sears / K-mart and Charlotte Ruuse.

What other stores have closed?

I'm not talking about massive closings cuz that would be : Macy's , J. Crew , Gap, and Lowes. I'm sure there are others , but those are the ones no one needs to google. People would have to google Fred's Pharmacy if you don't live in the South.

by Anonymousreply 10May 21, 2019 1:05 AM

Well, all the plus-sized trans will be snapping up bargains to offset the cost of their Meds.

by Anonymousreply 11May 21, 2019 1:06 AM

R7 I know a professor who used to love DressBarn and Big Lots. Lol.

by Anonymousreply 12May 21, 2019 1:06 AM

Stand aside!

There'll be a frau frenzy come Black Friday.

R10 While a shadow of their former selves, Sears/Kmart are still around.

by Anonymousreply 18May 21, 2019 1:22 AM

I never understood that crazy name. Dress Barn??

by Anonymousreply 19May 21, 2019 1:46 AM

R19 My mother and grandmother, who are not wealthy, refuse to shop at a store with "barn" in its name. A barn is where you keep cows, horses, or hay, not lady's clothing.

by Anonymousreply 20May 21, 2019 1:50 AM

Rumor has it that Chrissy Metz has bought up all of their old locations and will be using them for storage under the name "Snack Barn."

by Anonymousreply 21May 21, 2019 1:52 AM

R20, same here!

by Anonymousreply 28May 21, 2019 4:40 AM

I was always a Fashion Bug kinda gal myself.

by Anonymousreply 29May 21, 2019 4:46 AM

Take a good look at the pic of the Pences in R9's post.

He looks like someone's prissy, old maiden aunt, she looks like Buddy Hackett in drag.

by Anonymousreply 30May 21, 2019 5:14 AM

Well that's what happens when cheaply made China apparel floods the markets, nes' pas?

by Anonymousreply 38September 30, 2019 2:10 AM

Why is this happening????

by Anonymousreply 39September 30, 2019 2:12 AM

Dressbarn, which has been around for more than five decades, has struggled to grow in apparel retailing as more women steer toward fast-fashion retailers such as H&M and Zara, off-price chains such as T.J. Maxx and Ross Stores, and even Target. Amazon also continues to take a larger share of the apparel market online.

[quote]A barn is where you keep cows

Well, the dresses are big enough to fit cows, so it makes perfect sense to me.

by Anonymousreply 41September 30, 2019 2:48 AM

I've bought all my clothes from Dress Barns for years. I like Dress Barns so much better than that fucking Strawberries. As a professional woman I need clothes that are sensible, look good and provide me with a sense of style at an affordable price. Dress Barns has always been there for me. Seeing it go out of business is like losing a good friend. I don't know what I'll do or where I'll go next to shop for a professional look at a value price. There is a Penney's in the mall down the street. I may have to give them a second look!

by Anonymousreply 42September 30, 2019 3:08 AM

I drove by a Dress Barn yesterday and there was no indication it was closing.

by Anonymousreply 43September 30, 2019 3:48 AM

Well, I've been inconsolable since Casual Corner went under, so I don't think I'll be able to survive this.

by Anonymousreply 44September 30, 2019 3:53 AM

[quote] Dressbarn, which has been around for more than five decades, has struggled to grow

Getting larger is not on of the list of Dress Barn's problems.
