Did she spend it all on the move to California? She didn't seem to have it afterwards.

Again, I must insist on anonymity, because...
Lucy can be a vengeful cunt...
But she has caused a lot of brownouts in our building from her use of "marital aids"
(or what some people Sex Toys)...you should see her bedroom closet!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 13, 2019 9:17 PM |
She invested it all.

Yes, Bernie and I promised Mrs. Carmichael a much higher return than she would get on her Bailey's Beans scam...

How much was the trust fund, anyhow? In 1960s dollars? Like $25,000? Shit doesn't last forever.

Why do you think I had to get my son Sherman out of that hell hole of a house in Connecticut?

Didn’t they address that in the first episode of her move to LA? That she transferred the funds to a Los Angeles bank and then by a remarkable coincidence, Mr. Mooney was transferred to the same bank?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 14, 2019 3:40 AM |
The move to California, was very much a reset. It is best to view the first three seasons and the last three seasons as different shows.

Jess Oppenheimer who had been instrumental in the development of the "I Love Lucy" show and the Lucy character brought a lawsuit against Desilu for his interest after he left the show
IIRC, the settlement of that suit prohibited Lucy and Desilu from using certain characteristics that had made Lucy a more interesting three-dimensional character.
After that Lucy was pretty much left with cardboard "But Mr. Mooney!" character and the Guest Star of the week schtick..
But what did Lucy care - she was phoning it in anyway...

Bitch moved me to LA with her, sent me off to military school, and forgot I even existed!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 14, 2019 3:57 AM |
And what about me?
Bitch sent me off to College and I was never heard from or even mentioned again!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 14, 2019 4:02 AM |
R13 You say she was phoning it in, but she managed to win back to back Emmys for the final two seasons beating Elizabeth Montgomery and Marlo Thomas twice, while also beating Agnes Moorehead, Barbara Feldon and Paula Prentiss. Other than Paula, whose show I have never seen, the others were strong competition.

Bitch was so desperate for money she'd do anything...

Tell them to dig under the hyacinth bush in the back yard of our old house in Connecticut in they want to find out what REALLY happened to Lucy’s daughter Chris! And Mr. Barnsdahl and Harry Conners are under the ice plant.

I love this thread!

The Danfield Bank had assets of eight million dollars in the second season. Since Lucy got personal service, I imagine her trust was big.
You hear about Mrs Carmichael paying property tax but never a mortgage, so that was probably paid for. I don't know what Viv paid in rent for Sherman and her but they also helped around the house so it couldn't have been much.
Lucy said 'If I threaten to take my account to another bank, Mr Money will just say 'Go ahead and take it to another bank, see if I care.'
So from that angle it doesn't seem like much.
Lucy didn't work when she moved to Hollywood and could afford college for Chris and military school for Jimmy or Jerry or whatever he was called by that point.
The house was huge, look at the space and it had four bed rooms. So she probably got a good price for it. Hollywood was cheap in the 60s.
Still Mr Money must've let her touch the principal or it was set up to expire

[quote]I don't know what Viv paid in rent for Sherman and her
She paid by eating Lucy out.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 14, 2019 3:16 PM |
Viv also got a rent reduction by letting Sherman pleasure Lucy anally once a month, but never on a school night.

Lucy moved to San Francisco, not LA.
But “Here’s Lucy” was set in Canoga Park, an LA suburb that’s now gangbanger central.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 14, 2019 3:37 PM |
No, not San Francisco r23

Yes, because Emmys are an accurate barometer of comedic and acting skills and are never awarded simply for sentimental reasons.

She spent it all in London. London, England. That's in Europe.

Lucy was past her expiration date by the middle of the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour.
She should have retired to a ranch in New Mexico like Viv.

But then we never would have had "Lucy Mame"!

R11 Yes. Mr. Mooney said that the bank gave him a choice between two states. The State of California or the state of unemployment. That line always stuck with me.

Red wigs?

She moved to LA. Her address was 780 N Gower, which, coincidentally, was the address for Desilu Gower.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 14, 2019 4:33 PM |
She spent it on Seconal.
