Freaky Vintage Photos

This one has always disturbed me. It's an image of desperate parents in war-torn Russia during the 1920s selling their dead children for meat during the ensuing devastating famine.

What is going on the first and second photos?

It can't be! R5 is this real?

Five million died in that Russian famine. It would have been millions more if Herbert hoover hadn't organized a relief agency. To ensure the food got to the hungry people instead of warehouses of the local Commissars the relief agencies insisted on control of rail shipments and fair distribution. For years I was incorrectly certain Hoover won the Nobel Peace Prize for this.

Why are early 20th century me so freaky?

The images of the murders of Sharon Tate and her party guests by Manson's crew kept me up at night for a good long time. This is one of them: pregnant Sharon Tate tethered to Jay Sebring.
