I enjoy some playoff basketball. Too much of the regular season is meh and it's ever-more packed with ads. I'll catch the end of a close Lakers game via radio and they're ridiculous w. ads.
Someone gets fouled and in the few seconds between the whistle and free-throw or in-bounds play, the announcers will say something like, "That gives us a chance to remind everyone about Taco Tuesdays at Marongo Casino. Tacos for a buck on Tuesdays at Marongo Casino. Lonzo Ball to the line to shoot two."
By the way, as per a relative who used to work at Duke University, C. Laettner is a non-heterosexual, was and still is romantically involved w. a teammate.

Guys, why don't we see their VPL in the shorts? We see it all the time in soccer, it's so great to see the bulges and in Italian leagues, not only will the players will give away their jerseys to fans and they also take off their shorts to give to fans as well. So you see them in underwear...really hot!
by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 18, 2019 2:25 AM |
R69, unfortunately basketball players seem to wear highly compressed-underwear which, in addition to baggy basketball shorts, prevents their pendulous dongs from swinging lewdly about.
A return to more revealing shorts is long overdue.

So, I looked it up. He wears a size-17 shoe!! That's more like a guy who is 6'8" or 6'9" (like Blake Griffin). I'll bet Donovan is packing.

I feel for you, R20. Life-long Lakers fan, here (which hasn't been pleasant lately), and just a *basketball* fan. Always liked the Knicks the "most" (or hated them least?) of the Eastern Conf. teams. I don't go back to the Walt Frazier/Willis Reed era....but I fondly remember seeing Bernard King play in person a few times. :-) (Buckets!)
I was really pulling for the Knicks to get the #1 pick/Zion. (assuming that the Lakers wouldn't get it). Knicks fans deserve it after so many years of mismanagement under Dolan. It's just better when the Knicks are good.

What do you guys think of the DeRozan/Lowry bromance? A big casualty from the Kawhi trade but clearly Toronto did the right thing. I remember Kyle being all pissy refusing to answer questions about it and media making it into a big drama with poor DeMar betrayed by the Raps and sad/mad Kyle separated from his best friend, what's up with that narrative? Trades happen all the time, besties brothers whatever-- media made it seem like it was two star-crossed lovers being taken away from each other or something-- what else do they know?? Like, sports and Toronto media were ALL over their bromance... I get they were the two superstars and were all sappy with each other and facetimed together with their kids n stuff and had great chemistry yeah-- Still. They underperformed and choked against LeBron how many times?? Who cares about friendship! (They also fucking or what?) Leafs ain't winning shit, nobody cares about the Jays, Toronto sports need to do better. Raptors better pray Leonard stays with them.

Hey, it's not really *that* crazy, I remember reading an ESPN article about the closeted life of an ex-NFL player who chose Stanford (then was drafted by the 49ers) since it was just a 45 min drive from SF, where he met up with his hook-ups. Just sayin'... Durant's allegedly targeting NY now tho.

r153 not while Dolan owns the team.
As much as I feel your pain (my hockey team had the worst owner in pro sports), I'm glad he micro-managed the hardwood instead of the ice. The Rangers had some good teams, and he's rumoured to be opening his chequebook for free agents this summer.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | June 8, 2019 6:55 AM |
I was never a fan of basketball, did not follow it in any way. One afternoon a buddy from college asked if I wanted to go to a pro game, he was friends with the owners kids. So I went, and when we got there, the usher kept taking us father down the aisle towards the floor. I looked at my buddy like, "are we going where I think we are going?"
We were on the floor. Fucking floor seats! That is when I discovered basketball. On TV it is so removed, so high up. When you are on the floor watching these giants run back and forth, yell at each other, make insane moves, and collide, it is like nothing else.
The guys are insanely large and very handsome!
by Anonymous | reply 173 | June 8, 2019 6:57 AM |
One thing about Dolan is he isn't afraid to spend. He has no problem paying for talent. But it's not his fault totally. The players don't perform when they are in the city, they are distracted by the parties, the whores and promoting their "brand" and image etc.
That's why players always win rings when they leave to go elsewhere...Many players have said they partied too much while in nyc. It was very boring in ohio, they practiced and focused more on basketball etc.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | June 8, 2019 7:02 AM |
r174 I always felt that was a GM/head coach weakness. If Dolan brought in a hard ass coach & GM to get rid of the nightclub mentality, like he did for the Rangers w/ John Tortorella, it would make a difference. You have to be careful, because he can be too old school, but word would get around quick. A couple of years to teach a team system & instill discipline, then get a more laid-back guy for a Championship run.

Soccer star Megan Rapinoe follows Colin Kaepernick in kneeling for anthem.
"Being a gay American, I know what it means to look at the flag and not have it protect all of your liberties. It was something small that I could do and something that I plan to keep doing in the future and hopefully spark some meaningful conversation around it. It's important to have white people stand in support of people of color on this. We don't need to be the leading voice, of course, but standing in support of them is something that's really powerful."
The 31-year-old Rapinoe helped the U.S. win the World Cup last year and played in the Rio Olympics.
"It's the least I can do. Keep the conversation going," Rapinoe tweeted.

R228, I also love the heart and very positive attitude of Pascal Siakam aka "Spicy P". This kid from Cameroon only started playing basketball at 15. One can tell he does not have the smooth moves of someone who started playing at a much earlier age. He's just pure raw talent. Still lots of room to improve.
He's bilingual which makes him perfect for Canada.

by Anonymous | reply 230 | June 14, 2019 11:17 PM |
Good for Toronto and all, but basketball isn't really Canada's game. The Raptors won because they can afford to pay the best players, most of whom are American not because they have some great basketball history/legacy. Yes, of course every winning team can afford the best athletes, but in this case is this really a win for Canada when there are hardly any Canadians in the NBA? It's like if Australia decided to put money into an NHL franchise, stacked the team with players from hockey playing nations (Canada, Russia, US). It wouldn't really be some Australian accomplishment.

Toronto deserved the win but aside from the series against the Sixers (which was all Kawhi), I felt like Lowry should have been in contention for MVP instead. He was WAY better in that final game. I still feel bad about him and DeRozan. If they're not gay together they're at least way closer than just a typical 'sports bromance'.
Furkan Korkmaz of the 76ers is my current basketball crush. I want him to Furk me.

The big question now seems to be will KL stay in Toronto? From his interviews, it seems like the most important thing to him is being able to play healthy for a long time. Well, the Raptors tailored a "load management" program for him - which meant he missed playing about 22 games last year. Will any other team be on board with him sitting out so many games?
by Anonymous | reply 240 | June 16, 2019 11:07 PM |
The big question about whether Trump would invite the Raptors to the WH could easily be answered.
All Trudeau has to do is invite the Raptors to Parliament Hill/Rideau Hall and then as a surprise guest...invite Obama.
Trump would go ballistic and not invite them so that would be a good way of getting out of whether or not to turn down the invitation.

by Anonymous | reply 244 | June 16, 2019 11:13 PM |
R243- I doubt that getting free food or fan adoration is high on his list...but the way his health was handled is probably a priority and so is winning. The Raptors can give him both along with money.
And if he's smart, he'll replay that clip of Kevin Durant lying in a hospital bed. It doesn't take much to change your entire career if you don't have the support of the team on the side of your health.
by Anonymous | reply 245 | June 16, 2019 11:20 PM |
Exactly R245
It's also the whole big fish/small pond thing. A lot to be said for that. Really depends on your personality.
by Anonymous | reply 246 | June 16, 2019 11:22 PM |
R243, you're welcome.
I think the only team Kawhi is possibly considering is the LA Clippers since he may want to stay close to family. But it will be a total gamble. In Toronto he has a good team of guys, coaching staff, and management. And, the whole city and the actually the whole country is behind him. Very hard to leave that behind.
With Anthony Davis going to the Lakers, the Lakers with Lebron and AD are again major contenders. I expect the Lakers to take the West.
Even Charles Barkley thinks Kawhi should stay in Toronto.
by Anonymous | reply 247 | June 16, 2019 11:23 PM |
R246, Kawhi is so low-key that he and his GF/wife are not even on social media. They recently had a baby boy and the media does not even know the baby's name. That's how much they've shunned the limelight. So, the big fish/small pond "thing" is a non-issue.
by Anonymous | reply 248 | June 16, 2019 11:26 PM |
r248 the other 'low-key' part is the "personal assistant/friend" the Raptors hired with Kawhi. In TO, he's more likely to be protected than in LA (or Cali generally)
by Anonymous | reply 249 | June 16, 2019 11:31 PM |
Why would anyone chose Toronto over LA?
by Anonymous | reply 250 | June 16, 2019 11:35 PM |
I think even if Kawhi goes to the Clippers, Lebron and AD with the Lakers would attract all the attention since that's just how Lebron rolls. Kawhi can still stay very private.
by Anonymous | reply 251 | June 16, 2019 11:36 PM |
r250 If he's serious about winning, and wants to stay healthy, the article makes a case for a short-term contract that makes the most sense. The medical team is already in sync with Kawhi, and he knows what TO is like for a full season.
No one is suggesting TO is better off the court, but if he wants to win, it's not a bad option.
r251 the media likes its narrative, though, and that's tailor made for it. That means drama, and NBA drama is tabloid drama, not locker-room drama.
by Anonymous | reply 252 | June 16, 2019 11:39 PM |
I predict Kawhi stays for another year. But, if Masai Ujiri leaves for the Washington Wizards, all bets are off.

When we're done discussing about Kawhi's decision, can we talk about suspected gay NBA players? Those pics/vids at R142 make me wonder about how deep is that DeRozan/Lowry friendship... I have a friend from DC who told me a guy on the Wizards likes dudes ānot Dwightā (and also that half the team is riddled with STDs). Also mentioned a couple dudes from the Heat. Kawhi reminds me a little bit of Crosby (the hockey player), the same robot jokes, extremely low-key, media leaves them alone, not much clue about their personal lives... well Kawhi has the confirmed gf and kids, but I had never heard about the hired friend thing someone mentioned above, hmm, if it's true, I mean, it could be just a close friend, it's not uncommon for famous people to hook old friends up with jobs (actually, Crosby also got a childhood friend a job with the Pens), could be just nepotism. But also, that made me remember Tim Duncan, the gossip about his ex-wife allegedly saying after they divorced that he had a man on the DL, lived with his bff for four years and the bff even lived with the married couple for two years before Tim bought him an apt-- crazy story, that was in 2013, most people brushed it off as a vindictive bitch ex trying to trash a poor man's reputation... We can get on that kind of speculation too, now that the season is over.

Kawhi attended a Blue Jays game tonight. Ok, the Jay were playing LA....but Kawhi was wearing a BLUE HAT! It's A SIGN!! LOL.
by Anonymous | reply 316 | June 21, 2019 6:32 AM |
New Balance just set up a pre-order for Raptor's themed shoes to be shipped the week of July 1 and the website crashed. They sold out in one minute. IT'S A SIGN!
Not that it really means anything....but as someone pointed out, corporations don't do things like this on a whim.

the one on the right is dreamy; nice skin and pecs and arms.

Kawhi Leonard receives standing ovation at Blue Jays game

Ok, in the Kawhi rumorville world-----the head of "CargoJet" a Canadian cargo carrier, just posted a picture of himself and Kawhi. Some people were saying, oh, he's just taking a picture with a fan. But---this is the same company that has an endorsement deal with Drake and Kawhi is wearing the exact same "CJ" logo jacket that Drake wore for his contract deal with CargoJet.
So....the question is ----if Kawhi was going back to LA, why would he sign an endorsement deal with a Canadian company?
by Anonymous | reply 321 | June 22, 2019 7:37 AM |
He could just be using the cargo company to ship his stuff to LA
by Anonymous | reply 322 | June 22, 2019 4:20 PM |
Can anyone else not stand Ayesha Curry?
by Anonymous | reply 323 | June 22, 2019 5:37 PM |
R322- I don't think that's why he's wearing a CJ jacket. In the instagram post, CargoJet says "welcome to the family". That sounds more like an endorsement deal.

We took "Name the 90's" to the #NBADraft and these NBA players are WAY younger than you thought

Coby white is ugly and has an extremely punchable face and I wanna cut off that nappy afro as well!
by Anonymous | reply 326 | June 22, 2019 10:52 PM |
Oh, shut your pie-hole, R326 . Coby White's reaction to his UNC teammate Cam Johnson being drafted #11 was one of most genuine displays of joy (and surprise) that I've seen on any draft night.

This guy is so fucking sexy. Another light skin š¤¤ He has an amazing ass also. Too bad he is going to the fucking sixers with their toxic fanbase.

I desperately want Kevin Love and Turkish amazon Enes Kanter to blast their DNA inside me--simultaneously.

Knicks strike out big time in free agency lol
by Anonymous | reply 333 | July 1, 2019 12:41 AM |
I too find Enes Kanter really sexy. There was a thread about him awhile back. He has hardcore BDF and seems like a sweet guy in interviews. I imagine his dick is massiveāunfortunately cut though, since he's Muslim. I still want him in me, balls deep.

Knicks dodged a bullet. KD is damaged goods and will be 32 when he plays again. KD is finished.
by Anonymous | reply 335 | July 1, 2019 4:37 AM |
R335 still better than anything on their roster, they signed a bunch of mediocre forwards sunday. RJ barrett will be a disaster, a ball hog brick layer.
by Anonymous | reply 336 | July 1, 2019 7:23 AM |
Yo, check the stats. players stop playing after 2years after KD's type of injury. Knicks would have been crazy to offer max deal to a cripple.

Anyone here watch Bleacher Report's "Game of Zones"? I especially loved this one from last year, about the 2017-18 rookie class (and NBA 2K). "At least I take shots, Benny One-Point!" LMAO. The whole thing is a crack up; I was in tears the first time I saw it.

by Anonymous | reply 345 | July 20, 2019 7:28 AM |
I'm a Lakers fan and suddenly, I find DeMarcus Cousins sexy. I know once the season starts and he does his usual hothead/technical fouls routine, he'll drive me nuts but for now, he's really attractive in his redneck way.

Boogie has slimmed down this summer! Look at his face!
If he can be healthy again, and even half of what he was.......and Kuzma takes off.....RINGS, baby!

I do want Kuzma to reach his potential! He had such a good breakout season.
