AKA Tuesday in America.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 1, 2019 12:32 AM |
Is this breaking, insipid OP?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 1, 2019 12:33 AM |
America seems broke.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 1, 2019 12:35 AM |
It’s not even the top story in Charlotte.

Thoughts and prayers.

And nothing will change because a portion of the country believes unlimited access to guns is the most important right they have.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 1, 2019 12:41 AM |
Yep, R7. Another week, another mass shooting.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 1, 2019 12:43 AM |

r7 nothing will change because a portion of the country believes in simplistic solutions that align with their worldview and ignore intent and context.

Shoo!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 1, 2019 12:57 AM |

[post redacted because linking to dailymail.co.uk clearly indicates that the poster is either a troll or an idiot (probably both, honestly.) Our advice is that you just ignore this poster but whatever you do, don't click on any link to this putrid rag.]

r10 Feel free to explain "intent and context".
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 1, 2019 1:08 AM |
You're lucky he spelled them right R14.

The ONLY gentle giant I remember was Michael Brown who wasn't a spree shooter.

Let’s run down the possible motives: Was it 1. Domestic jealousy? 2. Racist hatred? 4, Religious insanity? or 4. Couldn’t get laid?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 1, 2019 1:19 AM |
OP, did you type this with your toes?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 1, 2019 1:19 AM |
Republicans: If the shooter is white, nothing to see here.

His parents named him Trystan.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 1, 2019 1:28 AM |
I was on another Forum, and it was already dismissed, because it "wasn't a Mass Shooting" and the incident broke out at a Rap Festival= Black Shooter so it doesn't count. Sigh.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 1, 2019 1:44 AM |
Men should not be allowed to have guns, they are too emotional and mentally unstable.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 1, 2019 1:52 AM |
When are we all going to deal with the Fucking Elephant in the room?? The Orange Fat Fuck who is President inciting hate every time he opens his Gargantuan, Obscene, Rascist mouth?? Under his Presidency, over FIVE HUNDRED PEOPLE were shot at one time on Las Vegas ( something we have never gotten a satisfying answer for btw). Ever since then- it seems like we have been on an accelerating roller coaster ride to hell- people not debating WHY yhis is happening, just slapping each other people on the back for yheir "quick thinking" in stopping whatevet nut job perpetrated the act. I don't know about you but that's not the kind of society I want to live in. That's not an OK ENOUGH RESOLUTION. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PUT UP WITJ THIS KIND OF BULLSHIT-and our leaders are just sitting ny twiddling their thumbs. Honestly? It feels like we're being legitimately destabilized.

r22 It's a white guy, he was complaining on Tumblr about the professor of the class he shot up before he did it. Nothing to do with rap.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 1, 2019 2:16 AM |
Gawd Stats was a fun and relatively easy class. Also how hard to hire a decent stats professor, its UNC for crissakes. What is wrong with these boys they think shoot em up is a response to lifes' frustrations.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 1, 2019 2:23 AM |
They're pussy losers, R29

Sideshow Bob? Oh no !
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 1, 2019 3:24 AM |
Can some American tell me why a man would shoot dead people who were not the object of his ire? I have not understood this "I need to have a gun in case I have a temper tantrum and I can't win an argument on logic and empty threats alone" belief that seems much more common than well-regulated attempts to combat threats to "the security of a free state." How did that come from "well-regulated militia fighting government tyranny?" How did the people shot, who weren't the professor, threatening the security of a free state?
This question pops up when I read of mass shootings at dance clubs, churches, concerts, video game tournaments, any assembly where people get killed or maimed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
[R22] It's a white guy, he was complaining on Tumblr about the professor of the class he shot up before he did it. Nothing to do with rap.
Don’t bother. People will find a way to make it about a black guy and rap. 🙄
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 1, 2019 3:37 AM |
its UNC for crissakes.
It’s UNC Charlotte, not Chapel Hill.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 1, 2019 3:51 AM |
As an American I’ll explain it. It’s called freedom. Some choose to solve their problems, whether real or perceived, with our sacred second amendment.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 1, 2019 3:58 AM |
Because he can't handle that he's not getting his way, R34, so like a violent, giant, entitled toddler he has to destroy something. Take away someone else's future or happiness, since he can't have his.
WAHHH WAHHH WAHH!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 1, 2019 4:01 AM |
I'm still not completely understanding this. Every birthday and anniversary and holiday for years is raw sorrow for people who've lost loved ones in mass shootings, because a man-child somehow made it to the age of legal gun ownership without mastering constructive conflict resolution skills. This is something hundreds of millions of Americans call "freedom?" Is it "freedom" when veterans with PTSD don't receive adequate counseling and meds? Or when a part-time chiropractor shoots early morning workers in an office?
like a violent, giant, entitled toddler he has to destroy something. Take away someone else's future or happiness, since he can't have his.
I hope the Fecaloma at 1600 doesn't get to act out to destroy innocent people's futures when he can't get his way. Are non-violent communication and conflict resolution skills ebbing out of use because American society is disintegrating, and the current government is a symptom of that?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 1, 2019 4:19 AM |
Somehow, r39???
All of you bitching about "toxic masculinity" (implied straight) forget that it doesn't happen in a vacuum. Hint: the incels didn't raise themselves. And the cultural Leftist views on "privilege" and the Special Snowflake Victim Olympics are just pendulum swung revenge, and the corporate 1% taking advantage of it.
If people are suffering enough, angry enough, isolated enough and bullied enough, they *will* act out. You don't have to agree with their beliefs/politics in order to recognize it as a problem.
Add to that you never really know what goes on in families behind closed doors (and now on-line), and it's a recipe for disaster that has nothing to do with guns. If you ban them without looking honestly at reasons/intent, you'll just get IEDs. And that, you can't control (specifically regulate) the way you can a manufactured, distributed product like guns.

Americans are an angry, violent people.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 1, 2019 6:57 AM |
Just fucking enough with the Second Amendment. Honestly, the people the defend it say, “Well, it’s there because we need to have the ability to over throw the government when it becomes too oppressive.” We live in a day and age that your AK doesn’t mean shit because the government has LASER-GUIDED SMART MISSILES. Your fucking semi-automatic pop gun isn’t going to do anything against the modern American military if they chose to oppress you. Talk all you want about guerilla warfare but once the US military puts a fucking drone above you with infrared scopes, your guerilla ass is toast. The reasoning behind the 2nd amendment is moot at this point and anyone who defends gun rights, on those grounds, is an anachronism and a fool.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 1, 2019 7:59 AM |
*yawn*
News of a dog playing with a goat would be trending more in the US.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 1, 2019 8:12 AM |
putin doesnt give a shit about the us, he doesnt like american meddeling, but he knows he cant do anything either. Russia is dying out due to low birth rates, oil will become useless in 20 years. sure they have nukes, but they are not a real threat.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 1, 2019 8:22 AM |
Have you found a way to blame the Unabomber and the Univ. of Texas tower shooter in ‘66 on the Ruskies and the Chinks yet, R24?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 1, 2019 8:34 AM |
And nothing will change because a portion of the country believes unlimited access to guns is the most important right they have.
Tougher gun controls will help, but likely won’t solve the problem. There are already too many guns in circulation. How are you planning to get the guns back from the gangs? And as long as the gangs have guns, there will be a black market in them.
If even idiots, teenagers and suicidal depressives can get Class A drugs (heroin, opioids, etc) from the black market - they’ll be able to get guns from the black market too. 3D printers are going to make black market production of arms easier too.
You need to address the root of the problem: In many cases, it’s mental disease. Universal healthcare might help.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 1, 2019 8:44 AM |
r23: "[bold]Straight[/bold] men should not be allowed to have guns, they are too emotional and mentally unstable." Fixed it for you.
r53: Totally agree. There are other countries that allow their citizens to own guns, yet they don't have the kind of gun violence we do. There are countries that prohibit their citizens from owning guns yet have similarly shocking crimes. Simply restricting who can legally own a weapon and what types of weapons citizens have access to isn't going to solve the problem. The mind of an individual that have access to a gun will determine how that gun is used. Any effort to reform our gun laws needs to be coupled with an effort to A) reduce the glorification of violence in our media and B) focus on improving the mental health of citizens (specifically of straight males).
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 1, 2019 6:23 PM |
Removing the stigma of males in therapy, taking medication and getting 'help' would be a good start. It would increase demand for more and better mental health care in the US. Once people see that demand, coupled with the obvious need, things will change for the better.
It's started for our veterans and we'll hopefully start seeing a difference for them, soon. We need the same push for us regular dudes!
