I always thought Franklin Pierce was very handsome. Sadly, he also had one of the most tragic lives once elected. I still think he was very handsome, maybe knowing his tragic story makes him more handsome somehow. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Pierce was well liked, charming, personable, fun; he married a dour, religious, teetotaler who hated his career in politics. Their first son died a few days old, their second son died a lingering, painful death from typhus, and their sole surviving son was killed in a train accident as they made their way to Washington DC for the inauguration.

Pierce pulled his son from under some wreckage, seemingly unhurt with no visible marks, only to find his head exposed when he removed his cap. When he got to DC, Pierce refused to take the oath of office on a bible, feeling God had punished him. He turned to booze in his grief, was one of the most ineffectual presidents - his own party didn’t even nominate him for a second term. Supposedly when he heard that, he said “nothing to do but get drunk then”. He died of cirrhosis of the liver.

OP I fucking texted a photo of young Rutherford B. Hayes to my best friend and said he was hot just a few days ago. His son lived in a house a few doors down from me and I always say, "the guy who lived there, his mother was the First Lady." I looked up her photo after a walk, not even a week ago. I sent my friend their wedding photo just to comment on how sexy he was. We went and walked the grounds of their house/library in Fremont, OH last summer.
