Look at his face. Are they sure he isn't just a reanimated corpse?

Sundown you better take care

He's already recorded every song ever written. There's nothing left.

I saw him live at the Canada 150 ceremony in 2017. Younger musicians covered two of the three songs of his set, he croaked out one.
He sounded like he had lung/throat damage then. Was he aiming for a Tom Waits-style voice? Lucille Ball? Bette Davis?

Is he transitioning into Joni Mitchell?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 27, 2019 3:20 AM |
Yeah , no.. I was just getting into Motown and disco , so no, he didn't groove well with me

He looks like Glenda Jackson in King Lear.

He’s a ghost from a wishing well.

I LOVED him in PHANTASM and now to find out that he's still with us and writing songs.
I mean, how cool is that ?

I saw The Stampeders recently and they were introduced with: "You saw them in the 70s, now here they are in their seventies!"

There's that Titanic cruise coming up.

If GL is quitting smoking at age 80, his doctor must've just told him he has stage 4 lung cancer.

He was certainly GOOD LOOKING when he was much younger.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 27, 2019 3:56 AM |
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! That is NOT Gordon Lightfoot.

OP, he's 80 years old. How is he supposed to look?

If you youngsters ever run out of ambien, try this. Gordon Lightfoot, Ian AND Sylvia, Emmylou Harris, Murray McGlocklin and Miss Judy Collins sing about the wind. If a bomb went off in this theater....

I had Orillia once. The pediatrician gave me some horrible tasting stuff to get rid of it but it worked.

We know Gordon well in the US. I wish we also knew Stan Rogers as well. He was a good one, too.

"Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind [Love]" now included in Amazon Prime videos.
I enjoyed the video. I never realized he wrote so many songs, good songs. I always liked "Sundown" and never realized he wrote that about girlfriend Cathy Smith, who went on to inject John Belushi with his final dose.

Did he play Livia on The Sopranos?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 14, 2021 10:52 PM |
All dumb jokes aside, he really is one of the greatest songwriters who ever lived. I commented on a YouTube video of "Early Morning Rain" and I said it was one of the best songs Gordon LIghtfoot wrote. Some dummy said oh no, he didn't write that song, it's a standard. And I said yes, it's a standard...and he WROTE it.

As DL’s resident young musician boy, I owe a whole lot to GL. His songs are wonderful, enjoyable to play, and made me a lot of many covering them. Sad he’s such a shambling corpse now, his death is going to be a sad one.
If they ever do a biopic, Bryan Cranston would do a firecracker job. They both have they sly and funny wit.
