In North America, robins are thrushes. Elsewhere, robins are flycatchers

In the northwest, the varied thrush is related to the North American robin

The oriental dwarf kingfisher of south & Southeast Asia.

They should probably change the name, since Oriental is considered a bad word nowadays

Robins in Central Park were pretty tame. One day I picked a piece off of bread and started to toss it toward a blue jay and a robin screeched and came flying in front of me like, “Yo, what’re doing? I’m right here, man. That bread is MINE.” It took the bread, fly up to a branch, ate it and flew back down to me again, like “More, please. Right here into my beak, thanks.”

I haven’t heard any orioles yet. I usually start to hear them in last week of April or first week of May. I still have juncos & white throated sparrows, my winter birds. The juncos range from light grey to dark black. Some have a lot of white, some have very little. Some have a striped back, some have solid backs.
