Are any of you familiar with the Lee family curse? Apparently that’s what killed him. It’s been years since I brushed up on the details but iirc, someone put a death curse on the male line starting with his grandfather or great-grandfather. RIP Brandon and Bruce.

Terrible actor but HAF. Such a shame he died on the set of that shiteous film.

I remember being affected by his death. I was 16 and had a major thing for him after seeing Showdown in Little Tokyo and Rapid Fire.

Brandon Lee looks more Asian when he has a shaved head. He definitely has a resemblance to his father Bruce. Like Keanu also, his father is not fully Asian either. Bruce Lee was 1/4 white and Keanu's father was a mixed race Hawaiian (white, Chinese, Hawaiian). Brandon seemed like a sweet and shy person form interviews. Very passionate about martial arts and admired his father. He never tried to pass for white either, always proud of his mixed heritage.

He should have won the Academy Award for his role in The Crow.

I still find his death so infuriating and preventable.

However, they left the live primer in place at the rear of the cartridge. One of my friends worked for the Lee family in the 90s and said they were just the nicest most down to earth people. She really liked the sister and mom.

Bruce Lee himself was a handsome man too. He probably had a tough time in Hollywood because an Asian male sex symbol would make a lot of white men uncomfortable. It was already too much to have handsome black studs like Jim Brown, Richard Roundtree and Sidney Poitier on the screen.

r7, I would refute the dominant Asian gene theory, as a lot of 1/2 Asians don't look Asian at all: Kristen Kreuk, Dean Cain, Jermaine Clement, Naomi Campbell, Alexa Chung, Darren Criss, Karen O, Enrique Iglesias, Olivia Munn, etc..

r14, had a friend who worked on The Crow and it's a classic example of how (non union) films overwork their crew- they were working 16 hour days that were mostly nights (which is like working in eternal jet lag), and in addition to the prop/armorer's misjudgment from fatigue, Brandon turned down wearing a flak vest, because that would be a costume and mike reset and add at least another 25 minutes to the day.

Friend said that he couldn't work for a year after The Crow, because he was so traumatized, he was on set when it happened and I didn't want to ask too much about it for obvious reasons.

They were priming him to be the next big action star, as he had signed a 3 picture deal with a major company (Fox?) and his acting skills were getting better.
