Have you been to The French Riviera in the south of France?

Is it all that?

Mélange parfait de mer, sexe et soleil. Pour tous les goûts.

Was on a Mediterranean cruise with several ports of call there. Beautiful scenery. Can be crowded at times. Planned on going back and spending more time there but never got the chance. I'm sure there will be a number of posters who will claim it is awful for one reason or another but every place is what you make of it.

by Anonymousreply 2March 24, 2019 4:57 PM

It's all that and more, OP.

by Anonymousreply 3March 24, 2019 4:59 PM

It really is quite beautiful and a great place to go.

by Anonymousreply 4March 24, 2019 5:02 PM

As opposed to the French Riviera in the west of Australia?

by Anonymousreply 5March 24, 2019 5:02 PM

Its a very very long coastline and I don't feel that it's crowded. Plus you can go up a kilometer or 2 and its certainly not crowded. There are the cities and the old ports are nice such as in Nice. I like the scrappy Juan-les-Pins and Antibes. I like Monte Carlo even (but not Saint-Tropez) and little Menton and Cannes. This spring I'm going to the other end to explore Marseille and the Carmargue. I like it all, from glamour to tacky. Very very pleasant weather and the sea is fine for swimming.

by Anonymousreply 6March 24, 2019 5:09 PM

Fête du Citron in Menton. How fabulously tacky.

I never got any further than the French Riviera in the east of France.

by Anonymousreply 8March 24, 2019 5:58 PM

The one in Nevada is kind of commercial.

by Anonymousreply 9March 24, 2019 6:13 PM

My brother went to Nice, didn't pay for a thing, and hated it.

by Anonymousreply 10March 24, 2019 6:20 PM

Was in Camargue (not the French Riviera) once. Great if you love mosquitoes.

by Anonymousreply 11March 24, 2019 6:21 PM

What about Northern European nudist gays with giant cocks? - Camargue and regions.....?

by Anonymousreply 12March 24, 2019 6:22 PM

It’s pretty but expensive. Plus there are French people there so that’s a minus.

by Anonymousreply 13March 24, 2019 6:34 PM

I've been wanting to plan a trip to Nice for a long time. What are the must-see sights/activities? Any times of season to avoid or that are best to go?

by Anonymousreply 14March 24, 2019 6:48 PM

It's great in June and September. July is all Americans, August all Russians and the rest of Europe who are on vacations.

by Anonymousreply 15March 24, 2019 6:48 PM

Spent the summer of ‘69 in St. Tropez. Jealous?

by Anonymousreply 16March 24, 2019 8:18 PM

Nah, R16. Any number of North African cities would have been hipper in '69.

by Anonymousreply 17March 24, 2019 8:22 PM

A few times. It is very nice. As someone wrote above, St Tropez, not so much. But other parts beautiful. Go up in the mountains to Eze. A tiny perfect village w Ana amazing restaurant (Gazelle D'or) in an old monastery w crazy views below you. Also, if you can swing it, The Hotel Du Cap in Cap d'Antibes is unreal. Yes, it has become overrun w Russians but if you go at off times it's great.

by Anonymousreply 18March 24, 2019 8:23 PM

R17, I don’t think my family’s objective was to find the hippest town on earth.

by Anonymousreply 19March 24, 2019 8:59 PM

In 2006 when we had both the time and the money (and recently divorced) we visited Nice and considered settling there, but we did not like the stones on the beach instead of sand.

by Anonymousreply 20March 24, 2019 9:09 PM

Love it. Especially picturesque Villefranche-sur-Mer and St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. The Italian Riviera's not so bad either: San Remo, Portofino, Cinque Terre, etc.

One actually prefers Beaumont-sur-mer.

by Anonymousreply 22March 24, 2019 9:20 PM

What about Menton? We know a fabulous Parisian diesel who likes to holiday there.

Menton is great. I'm saving to retire there.

by Anonymousreply 24March 24, 2019 9:24 PM

Mention is on the Italian border. You can nip over for lunch. It used to fascinate me how different it was. Like a magic carpet ride.

by Anonymousreply 25March 24, 2019 9:38 PM

Nice is nice but other than the beach there is not a lot to see. Of course you can rent a car andgo see the several cities snd villages nearby. For such a big city I was surprised bythe lack of gay nightlife (this was 7 years ago so it may have changed).

by Anonymousreply 26March 24, 2019 9:44 PM

Opéras de Nice et Monte Carlo are both interesting.

by Anonymousreply 27March 24, 2019 9:50 PM

never been there but the Amalfi coast looks better.

by Anonymousreply 28March 24, 2019 9:54 PM

Most girls would give their eyes for the chance to see Monte!

by Anonymousreply 29March 24, 2019 10:04 PM

I was taken there by one of my Russian lovers, that was before I met Donald of course....

by Anonymousreply 30March 24, 2019 10:15 PM

I've been to Nice and the isle of Greece.

by Anonymousreply 31March 24, 2019 10:18 PM

I've only been to Marseille and Aix (and nearby Cassis.) Lovely area.

by Anonymousreply 32March 25, 2019 4:04 AM

It’s okay. Stoney beaches, overpriced hotels and crowded bistros with the usual vacationer rude service. It’s pretty, but meh...

by Anonymousreply 33March 25, 2019 4:10 AM

I liked Monte Carlo and San Remo. Also, Monaco is very nice.

by Anonymousreply 34March 25, 2019 4:11 AM

Very commercial...but stunning. The drive to Monaco is worth it if you are already in the Riviera

by Anonymousreply 35March 25, 2019 4:23 AM

I’m the plus size panties that mom will have to squeeze her big business into because she keeps eating!!

by Anonymousreply 37March 25, 2019 5:07 AM

How did that heifer find her way sur la plage on THIS thread? R37 You've spoilt the dreamy scene imaginative vistas of bronzed of Rivera cock I had cooked up via the candy summery visuals on this thread.

Uncut French sizemeat has a taste of brie to it!

So many fucking idiot liars on DL lying about things that aren't worthy of lying about.

by Anonymousreply 41March 26, 2019 12:48 AM

West of the Camargue, from La Grand Motte to Banyuls sur Mer, there are plenty of reasonably priced seaside resorts and sandy beaches to enjoy. PACA can be quite pricey.

by Anonymousreply 42March 26, 2019 12:57 AM

I was amazed to find I much prefer the stones. They are so smooth and small. No lumpy too wet or too hot yucky mess. Spending so many years going to the Jersey shore I am so over sand.

The Brits smoking away with brown skin leathered to a 100 years are a sight.

by Anonymousreply 43March 26, 2019 12:58 AM

I like the idiot who enjoyed both Monaco and Monte Carlo. Perhaps you should try Rome and Italy on your next trip.

by Anonymousreply 44March 26, 2019 1:33 AM

R44, Perhaps he liked Monte Carlo and Monaco-ville, but was indifferent to La Condamine...

by Anonymousreply 45March 26, 2019 1:41 AM

I was watching House Hunters International last night, and the episode had this big ol' teddy bear queen looking for a flat in Nice. Adrian Leeds took him around Quartier des Fleurs, I believe, and mentioned that she lived down the road. I thought she was based in Paris, but apparently not. Anyway, beautiful town with plenty of Italianate and Beaux-Arts buildings and lovely views of the azure sea.
