So I’m scrolling through Hulu and come across Dante’s Cove, which I’ve never seen before, and start watching. OMG firstly it’s so so so bad and cheesey beyond measure but damn there’s also some hot sex. But damn the acting is horrible! And the sweaty bodies - everyone is drenched in sweat (spray bottle?) and has a gallon of hair product. Of course I’m going to continue watching.
Dante’s Cove

It is one of the worst, over the top shows of all time ... and I must have watched the whole series at least 5 times. Have fun OP!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 17, 2019 1:58 AM |
Lol! Tracy Scoggins is the WORST actress ever.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 17, 2019 2:02 AM |
You need to get stoned and/or drunk before watching it. That's how you start appreciating it.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 17, 2019 3:00 AM |
It is a perfect example of Susan Sontag's concept of naive camp--it's not trying to be cheesy--it thinks it is great Gothic drama in the tradition Stoker and Anne Rice (though maybe all vampire/witch stories have some damp element).
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 17, 2019 3:16 AM |
Oh, you.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 17, 2019 3:46 AM |
Stephen Amell was one of the original cast members and went on to star in "Arrow', go figure.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 17, 2019 3:47 AM |
Jon Fleming should have had a bigger career. I mean, he's never stopped working....
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 17, 2019 3:49 AM |
Whatever happened to Charlie David?

I wonder if GB was a fan lol

WEHT Jensen Atwood? He was so hot!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 17, 2019 1:39 PM |
Dante's Cove planted that gay seed inside me.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 17, 2019 1:47 PM |
Girl if you were watching Dante's Cove you already knew you were gay.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 17, 2019 1:52 PM |
What are the odds of them doing a reboot?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 17, 2019 2:06 PM |
A reboot would be awesome! I was going to say - with a bigger budget - but that would probably take some of the campy charm away.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 17, 2019 2:09 PM |
There's no point in doing a separate thread, so i'll just ask the obvious. Who would you want in the reboot?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 17, 2019 2:11 PM |
Definitely Tracy Scroggins playing someone completely too young to pull off. Gregory Michael because as R3 mentioned, he’s still hot AF. Charlie David of course
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 17, 2019 2:21 PM |
This and the spin-off The Lair were hilariously bad. It's a shame that the owners of Regent Entertainment turned out to be scam artists who embezzled money and took loans for projects they never filmed. I believe guys like Charlie David and Reichen Lehmkuhl lost money as well since they invested their own money with these guys expecting to not only get a profit but an acting gig out of it as well.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 17, 2019 2:30 PM |
I fantasized about these men when in high school. God they were/are hot.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 17, 2019 2:31 PM |
The acting on The Lair was even worse than on Dante's Cove (if that's possible). Who was the porn actor turned Billy Idol-wannabe vampire with the bleached hair. His line readings were especially sub-middle school class play.

[quote]The acting on The Lair was even worse than on Dante's Cove (if that's possible).
At least the Dante's Cove guys generally gave it the old junior college try. The cute pixie girl ended up on Young and the Restless for a while.
[quote]Who was the porn actor turned Billy Idol-wannabe vampire with the bleached hair
Dylan Vox, who's some kind of right-winger.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 17, 2019 2:39 PM |
I’m assuming Gregory Michael is gay, right?

[Quote] This and the spin-off The Lair were hilariously bad.
There was a spin-off?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 17, 2019 2:47 PM |
Were any of the guys actually gay?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 17, 2019 3:23 PM |
Charlie David is definitely gay - he did a short-lived gay travel show a few years back.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 17, 2019 3:30 PM |
Gregory Michael has to be gay - those kissing scenes of his were pretty damn real
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 17, 2019 5:50 PM |
Gregory Michael is 37, never married, not romantically linked to a woman in over a decade (when he was “famous”). His Instagram shows him traveling the world, recently Australia, but his IMDb page shows only two acting gigs - guest spots - since 2013. Independently wealthy, or has a sugar daddy?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 17, 2019 6:06 PM |
Charlie David was such an extraordinarily bad actor we used to watch the show to see just how bad.... he's like an entire course in What Not to Do for any young actor hoping to make it. He tried writing some scripts too, and they read just like he acts.
That said, there were some really cute guys on that show. So yeah, we watched for that, too.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 17, 2019 6:14 PM |
Charlie did produce, and was at least serviceable in, Judas Kiss, starring DL Icon Brent Corrigan, trying to go legit.
I mean, Brent Corrigan, even clothed, did a better job, but hey, take the win where you can.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 17, 2019 6:45 PM |
The Lair's cast consisted of porn actors reciting porn dialog with no hard core sex. Lose-Lose.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 17, 2019 7:47 PM |
Opening theme. Dynasty + Twlight + Red Shoe Diaries
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 17, 2019 7:57 PM |

What I did like about Dante's Cove and The Lair were that they were gay themed horror mystery shows taking place in rather small, remote locations with a lot of gays. The Lair had porn star Colton Ford as local sheriff.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 17, 2019 11:54 PM |
Colton Ford hilariously tried to become a singer--there was a documentary about it that would show up on Here from time to time. It was one step from a Christopher Guest parody and Ford was auto tuned to the tits.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 18, 2019 2:13 AM |
Yikes, If they thought that hiring Colton Ford for anything was a good idea this show was Doomed from the start.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 18, 2019 5:24 AM |
Charlie David looks Botoxed in his recent photos on IMDB. Or he's using fillers.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 18, 2019 5:39 AM |
R43 Sad. He looks like a million ugly bull dykes. Jeesass.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 18, 2019 5:47 AM |
I must have watched an edited version because I don't remember seeing any actual penises on the show.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 18, 2019 7:01 AM |
WEHT to Tim McElwee who played the hunky straight roomie? He had the hottest, most shredded body. Is he still an actor?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 18, 2019 7:30 AM |
Charlie David, Michael Gregory, what is with all these gays with two first names?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | March 18, 2019 8:38 AM |

I made out with a guy who guested on The Lair once, about 10 years ago. Brandon Ruckdashel. I know, nothing special, but thought I'd share the story.
It all started when I was surfing Manhunt. A cute tall guy messaged me and invited me to sit at a bottle service table at an event he was hosting at a nightclub in NYC. Being relatively new to the city, I eagerly agreed. I show up at the club and the guy's in full drag (he was hosting the event as his drag personality). I lost interest in him sexually, but joined the table and got my free (shitty vodka) drinks.
Later this gorgeous guy with shoulder-length blonde hair comes in, dressed in a nice suit. He's really unhappy about something but I start flirting with him right away, assuming he's gay. I get nothing from him but he tells me he's an actor and he was on The Lair recently, which I'd never heard of. I still think it's cool he's been on TV. I find out that he's upset because a girl he wants to bang that night won't return his text messages. This increases my lust for him further. But the night ends with him leaving early and no dice.
A week later at the same club (the drag queen invited me back again) and he's there again. He's sitting on the couch, better this time but still not really having fun. I flirt with him again but get nowhere. Then this gorgeous boy walks past the table and I invite him to join us. I flirt with him and he's receptive, find out he's Macedonian-American (never met one of those, lol). We make out and he says he needs to go back to his friends but we'll chat later in the night.
Anyway -- the actor was apparently taking note of all this because as soon as the boy leaves and I turn around he shoots up from the couch, grabs me and starts making out with me. I'm in fucking ecstasy. It only lasts for a few seconds but feels like forever. I tell him I thought he was straight and he says he's bisexual. Unfortunately, despite my efforts to take him home, he leaves shortly after that. Fortunately, I took the other cute boy home.
I never saw him again after that. Below is a photo of how he looked back then; he's aged since. He also directed a short film co-starring one of the Dante's Cove people, Jon Fleming (called "Grinder"). It's the only time I've ever had any intimate contact with someone who's been on TV/film. Maybe we'll run into each other again, lol.

That's pretty much what i did lol

The tragedy of this series was that no one was rimming young Stephen Amell's ass for an entire episode.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | November 4, 2019 8:25 AM |
Dante's Cove and The Lair are the ultimate guilty pleasures. I mean, I wouldn't want my friends and family to know that I am even aware of these shows.
A shame that there'll never be a gay version of HBO with quality LGBTQ content and some guilty pleasures like Dante's Cove and The Lair. The support from the community and allies just isn't there.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | November 4, 2019 9:20 AM |
Didn’t Stephen Amell’s replacement Jon Flaming end up doing porn?
by Anonymous | reply 61 | November 4, 2019 9:44 AM |
R61 I think he did a jerkoff vid anyway, don't know about anything else.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | November 4, 2019 9:46 AM |
Is that prosthetic at R31?
by Anonymous | reply 63 | November 4, 2019 10:03 AM |
R63 Nope, real deal. Dylan Jordan did some porn.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | November 4, 2019 11:49 AM |
Is Jon Fleming an addict or something? He look high af in that jerk off video.

I had to LOL at the finale where Toby (Charlie David) and Adam (Jon Fleming) are trapped in the closet ... dimension.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | November 4, 2019 3:25 PM |
I agreed with the characterization of Jon as "irresistibly fuckable".

I guess "Looking" is the closest we've got so far.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | November 4, 2019 6:55 PM |
That Brandon Ruckdashel guy has done a shit ton of soft-core porn for cable TV with many performers from the hard-core straight industry.
Brad Benton / Dylan Vox has had a small but prolific career doing direct-to-video, low budget schlock and now several shows for the SyFy network. It goes to show you how far persistence and the ability to deliver lines believably can get you.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | November 4, 2019 7:34 PM |
Gregory Michael, Jon Fleming, William Gregory Lee and most of the DANTE'S COVE cast were HAWT A.F.
But there must have been a different casting agent, director or budget for THE LAIR because all of those guys were FUG or aging out.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | November 4, 2019 7:36 PM |
Yes, soft porn or watching DANTE'S COVE with the sound off is worthwhile because there are many blazin' hot people who won't do full-blown porn for us and seeing a new figure nude is better than nothing.
Also, you're not always in the mood for full-blown porn or masturbation. Sometimes you just want to enjoy beauty or ease yourself into a horny mood.
Plus, DANTE'S COVE's attempts at plot and dialogue are so bad they're funny. It has more camp value than porn.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | November 4, 2019 7:41 PM |
R2 She did a lot better in Babylon 5. I think the writing bears a fair share of the blame.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | November 11, 2019 9:55 PM |
That's the problem with many gays r69, Looking was a real show.
Too many people would rather have silly schlock like Dante's Cove and Queer as Folk.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | November 11, 2019 10:00 PM |
I’ve never seen the show, but just came across a clip show of the sex scenes on Prime (Skin: Dante’s Cove). They used prosthetic dicks right? They looked fake as Fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | January 16, 2021 11:56 PM |
The first episode showed an actual dick on an actual porn star, and the scenes in the sex club were also porn stars. The only other actual dick belonged Big Brother alum and general whitey asshole Braden Bacha.
"Arrow" eye candy Stephen Amell displayed his glorious body (including his lovely peach), but no cock. He was yanked away and replaced, presumably the show was too gay for him or something.
