It is overrun by rich people from California who send their kids there so that they can come up for ski vacations every few weeks on the pretext that they are there to visit the kids during the winter. (One of the best ski resorts in the country is located close to there - Big Sky, plus Bridger Bowl). So disabuse yourself of any notion that the people in this town have never been exposed to coastal people. The shopping district is like a tiny little Rodeo Drive with very expensive boutiques. Many celebrities have mansions and ranches near Bozeman. It's not West Hollywood or Chelsea or Polk Street, but there are gay people there and even quite a few liberals (gasp!) I grant that if you go 30 miles outside of Bozeman in any direction you'll be deep in scary Trumpland... But Missoula, another university town is also a bastion of progressivity
