Best and Worst Dressed at the 91st Academy Awards

Who was best and worst dressed at the 2019 Oscars?

Kacey Musgraves was probably the worst for the women, wearing a pink toilet-roll-dollie that would embarrass a 12-year-old girl. And Jason Momoa was probably the worst for the men, in an unflattering pink suit.

Still, I haven't made up my mind for the best. Helen Mirren?

Olivia Colman's dress was truly one of the worst I've ever seen. Honestly. It was downright atrocious.

by Anonymousreply 1February 25, 2019 7:16 PM

Glenn Close was fabulous and regal.

Who's the trans in r3

by Anonymousreply 5February 25, 2019 7:18 PM

Do any of these women own a mirror?

by Anonymousreply 6February 25, 2019 7:20 PM

It's always a challenge for older women to find something appropriate. As always, Helen Mirren makes it look easy!

I loved Glenn Close's outfit, even if some of you bitches are mocking her for dressing like an Oscar.

Thanks R6 xD! I was about to ask OP how he managed to miss Maya Rudolph .

by Anonymousreply 8February 25, 2019 7:21 PM

Rachel Weisz looked bizarre. Hated everything about her ensemble.

by Anonymousreply 9February 25, 2019 7:22 PM

Sarah Paulson looks awful

by Anonymousreply 10February 25, 2019 7:25 PM

Michelle Yeoh had one of my favorite gowns. So sophisticated and elegant.

Good one, R10!

She ought to remember that being thin isn't all it takes to carry off a look like that.

by Anonymousreply 13February 25, 2019 7:28 PM

Close looked as if she was ready for her coronation.

Momoa must have Aquaman on the brain. He dressed up as a salmon, and his lady looks like a mermaid with legs.

by Anonymousreply 14February 25, 2019 7:29 PM

R12 I can’t understand all the love from the fashion blogs over that getup. Her boobs look like they’re sitting on top of her waist.

by Anonymousreply 15February 25, 2019 7:29 PM

I thought Linda Cardellini was the worst.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 16February 25, 2019 7:31 PM

Yeah, what’s this with all the capes?

I thought only drag queens liked to flounce around in capes.

by Anonymousreply 17February 25, 2019 7:31 PM

I loved Maya Rudolph, I know i'm in the minority.

by Anonymousreply 18February 25, 2019 7:31 PM

KiKi Layne was stunning. That’s a hard color to pull off (cough Gwyneth cough), but she rocks it.

by Anonymousreply 19February 25, 2019 7:32 PM

R6 why did Maya go as Mrs Rooer?

by Anonymousreply 20February 25, 2019 7:32 PM

This definitely goes down as the worst dressed Oscar year ever.

by Anonymousreply 21February 25, 2019 7:33 PM

Seconding KiKi Layne

R11 She was wise to wear a dress that covered her feet because her feet are nasty

by Anonymousreply 29February 25, 2019 7:43 PM

Gaga was a yawn.

Why have some posts been deleted? Like R10 and R12. Are we not allowed to post pics of what people wore??

by Anonymousreply 31February 25, 2019 7:44 PM

OMG, R6. My eyes!

by Anonymousreply 32February 25, 2019 7:44 PM

R31 I can see them....Do you have the poster(s) on ignore?

by Anonymousreply 33February 25, 2019 7:45 PM

Sarah Paulson always looks awful, R10. That hair. That forehead. Yikes.

by Anonymousreply 34February 25, 2019 7:45 PM

Weisz looked like she made the dress out of her raincoat.

by Anonymousreply 35February 25, 2019 7:45 PM

Charlize Theron's whole look was just underwhelming. She's far prettier and more beautiful than that.

by Anonymousreply 36February 25, 2019 7:47 PM

What do we think of Gemma? Probably the most polarizing look of the night. I’m kind of into it.

I don't know who this guy is, but how about a haircut and a beard trim. How about wearing something that fits sizewize.

by Anonymousreply 38February 25, 2019 7:50 PM

Among those spirting metallic looks, J-Lo looked sexy in the Tom Ford slinky sliver number. Glenn on the other hand looked ridiculous in that big card gold number. The closest she will ever getting to am Oscar.

R39 I’ve never been a JLo fan but she did look great.

by Anonymousreply 42February 25, 2019 7:55 PM

Yes the SNL girls looked dreadful - wrong styles , wrong colors, and no hairstyling - just because they're clowns does not mean they shouldnt even try --- I would rather they camp it up ala Melissa 's stage costume.....

And miss Waffle House would be passable if you just took away the shoulder wings - she looked like a Star Trek alien vixen circa 1968...

Overall, more thumbs down than thumbs up this year....

by Anonymousreply 43February 25, 2019 8:20 PM

I thought Gemma Chan was best dressed. I also thought Julia Roberts looked great. J Lo and Michelle Yeoh both looked fantastic.

Cardellini was a mess. So was Sarah Paulson.

Of the guys, I thought Michael B Jordan looked the best.

by Anonymousreply 44February 25, 2019 9:10 PM

Michael B. Jordan did look good. So did Chris Evans.

R38 The caption says its Nathan Crowley, a production designer

by Anonymousreply 46February 25, 2019 9:21 PM

How could Michael B. Jordan and Chris Evans ever not look good?

by Anonymousreply 47February 25, 2019 9:22 PM

Is it just me or are more and more actresses these days wearing dresses that do not flatter them at all?

by Anonymousreply 48February 25, 2019 9:23 PM

I didn't go "WOW" when I saw anyone's outfit this year. It was an underwhelming evening much like the Oscar broadcast itself.

by Anonymousreply 49February 25, 2019 9:25 PM

R48, when actresses accept money from the big design houses to wear their stuff on the red carpet, they wear whatever the designer wants to push and not what flatters them.

Also, a lot of the nominees aren't young and don't have model's figures, and some of the big designers have no clue how to dress them.

by Anonymousreply 50February 25, 2019 9:27 PM

Mamoa looked like an idiot. And I find him sexy. But Pharrell was the worst dressed man, IMO. He was trying to be the worst dressed man.

by Anonymousreply 51February 25, 2019 9:30 PM

Gaga's second dress is impressive. Perfect for the big photo.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 52February 25, 2019 9:34 PM

I loved Gaga’s second dress. Not a fan of the first.

by Anonymousreply 53February 25, 2019 9:37 PM

Charlize’s dress would have worked better in a more dramatic color. That drab blue does absolutely nothing for her.

by Anonymousreply 54February 25, 2019 9:37 PM

GaGa was spectacular, every bit a star

by Anonymousreply 55February 25, 2019 9:38 PM

The only wow I had in a good way was Billy Porter. I sincerely loved the the way he looked.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 56February 25, 2019 9:38 PM

I agree with the others...Gaga's second dress is great...simple and elegant.

by Anonymousreply 57February 25, 2019 10:11 PM

Loved Henry Golding’s Old Hollywood look.

by Anonymousreply 58February 25, 2019 10:25 PM

Whoever styled and dressed Charlize Theron worked really hard to make her ugly and unflattering.

by Anonymousreply 59February 25, 2019 10:29 PM

R12 Do you think Melissa wore this to make it easier to change into and out of her stunt dress?

by Anonymousreply 60February 25, 2019 10:32 PM

Regina King, Allison Janney, and Emilia Clarke all looked good.

by Anonymousreply 61February 25, 2019 10:39 PM

Henry Golding looks awesome

by Anonymousreply 64February 25, 2019 11:55 PM

Wow, get a load of Jennifer Lopez's afterparty gown!

Damn, I hate to admit it because I don't like her at all, but she brought two amazing gowns and wins the prize for Best Two Outfits.

by Anonymousreply 65February 26, 2019 12:06 AM

And here's Constance Wu at the afterparty.

I like this more than the gauzy yellow thing she wore to the actual ceremony.

by Anonymousreply 66February 26, 2019 12:12 AM

Jennifer Lopez knows how to dress, and has the looks to pull it off.

by Anonymousreply 67February 26, 2019 12:18 AM

I liked Constance Wu’s red carpet dress, but Michelle Williams did it better.

At the Vanity Fair Oscar Party...Kendall Jenner was not allowed by Mamma Kris to to put on pants on when she left her house

Fixed that for you r26

by Anonymousreply 69February 26, 2019 12:21 AM

No one has mentioned her but I think Angela Bassett in her pink gown was absolutely stunning.

She was perfection.

by Anonymousreply 70February 26, 2019 2:26 AM

She looked very good, R70. I think her gown got a bit overlooked amid the other pink numbers, especially the blindingly awful ones on Linda Cardellini and Kacey Musgraves.

by Anonymousreply 71February 26, 2019 2:28 AM

In the red carpet interviews, Gaga was babbling that acting in "ASIB" made her feel terribly "naked", because she had to take off all her makeup and costumes and shit.

So her Oscar look was an attempt to shed her usual costumery and look "naked", with nothing but minimal makeup and a huge diamond to glam her up... but it failed. Because the minimal makeup was so unflattering, and the orange spray-tan looked so intensely fake. If she'd gone with a more natural skin tone and just let her big brown eyes shine, she'd have looked MUCH better.

by Anonymousreply 72February 26, 2019 2:28 AM

Angela Basset looked absolutely stunning from the waist up, R70, but her gown wasn't incredibly kind to her hips and nearby areas.

If the thing had fit properly I'd be acclaiming her as best dressed, but as it is I'm just saying that she looks AWESOME for a woman of sixty. Gawd, she just doesn't age, and her remarkable beauty isn't going anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 73February 26, 2019 2:31 AM

I wish Amy Adams would stop wearing pale colors that wash her out. She looks so much better in midnight blues and deep greens and even espresso browns.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 74February 26, 2019 2:39 AM

R72 - I love her but it’s laughable that she claims she tried to be natural. She was as orange as Trump, had makeup painted on thick and her hair was so dyed blond that it now looks white.

by Anonymousreply 75February 26, 2019 2:41 AM

J-Lo's hair in r65 is gorgeous. (And the dress is a stunner as well.)

by Anonymousreply 76February 26, 2019 3:46 AM

J-Lo looks fucking amazing - physically, but her fashion sense always veers to Vegas showgirl tackiness. And Kendall Jenner...god, just wear a bandaid over your twat and be done with it. Still mystifying that she has a career as a model of all things.

by Anonymousreply 77February 26, 2019 4:19 AM

Yup, Jennifer Lopez looked the best, both dresses.

by Anonymousreply 78February 26, 2019 5:12 AM

Love this one !

Jason Momoa's suit is a Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi; actually the last piece of clothing he supervised before he died.

by Anonymousreply 80February 26, 2019 5:58 AM

Now we know what killed Karl.

Best: Michelle Yeoh, Letitia Wright, Sam Elliott

Worst: Everyone else

New meaning to the word HIDEOUS: Pharrell Williams, who looked like he was on the way to Venice Beach, remembered the Oscar ceremony and simply tossed on a jacket over his board shorts.

New meaning to the term Attention Whore: Billy Porter

by Anonymousreply 83February 26, 2019 6:53 AM

Irina Shayk was simple and chic.

by Anonymousreply 84February 26, 2019 7:44 AM

[quote] And Kendall Jenner...god, just wear a bandaid over your twat and be done with it

My thought precisely!

by Anonymousreply 85February 26, 2019 7:56 AM

R84 Not a fan of Irina’s dress. That fringe is distracting.
