Calista Flockhart
Actors/Actresses who were one-hit wonders
by Anonymous | reply 316 | May 3, 2019 2:38 PM |
Well, she did have her part in The Sally Field Programme and also got elderly stoner hunk Harrison Ford. So that's at least three hits, I guess. Even if she is in a supporting role in the latter two.
Imagine what she could have accomplished if she'd actually eaten some food.

Bad News Bears and Little Darlings were hot movies as well. She was above title top billing in both.
[quote]But she has had a long career where she's done other things.
True. But all were B-movies with no recognition and in which she remained an unknown name. So, even though they made profits, they were hardly hits. Just business as usual.

Cassandra Peterson has made more than a decent living for at least 3 decades off that "one hit". Making a long term career out of one character does not fit the definition of a one hit wonder. Just ask Paul Reubens (until various scandals got in the way) or Stephanie Courtney, who's been pulling in a 7 figure income for more than a decade as Flo from Progressive. Interestingly all three got their start in the LA improv troupe The Groundlings.

Yes, although Shatner is mainly known for Star Trek, he got more than one lease on life.
After the TV show was cancelled, there were all the ST movies from the late 70's to the early 90's which brought him a new audience.
And then he found success with "The Practice" and "Boston Legal" late in his career.

For Shatner, don’t forget TJ Hooker. It was pretty popular — he was basically a Kmart Dirty Harry (Hooker’s a good cop!). And Heather Locklear running around in a beat cop’s uniform with that enormous helmet of hair!
Shatner was prolific if nothing else. He had Tekwar for instance. He had done sci fi and cop shows and, as a smart and creative guy, was always thinking of new story ideas — and tekwar fused the two genres. He had lots of notes for a sci fi cop story and later hired a writer to ghostwrite the novels which did pretty well, and spawned games and tv shows.
The Wachowski Brothers (or whatever the hell they are now) ripped off Tekwar’s idea of a Matrix that simulates reality — in fact Tekwar even uses that same word.

It was basically a 2 character piece -- between Ian McKellen and Brad Renfro. And credit to Renfro, whatever his problems with drugs, he did have acting ability and managed to hold his own with McKellen, which most teenage boys wouldn't be able to do.

Roz Kelly pretty much alienated all of the Happy Day cast and they got rid of the Pinky character despite her being so popular. They attempted to put her as Pinky on another show called Blansky's Beauties but Nancy Walker didn't like her either and demanded she be fired.
She struggled with a bipolar disorder, a silicone boob job gone bad and a botched leg surgery than left her unable to walk without a cane. Needless to say, she hasn't had an easy life.

Margaret Hamilton had a successful carreer before and after playing the Wicked Witch of the West. She was stunt-cast in 1960 in "Thirteen Ghosts" as the housekeeper. She later made guest appearances in many tv shows and had several-years-long regular character as Cora, the Maxwell House coffee woman.
The cast of LOST has done well getting work since the end of that show's run.
Terry O'Quinn has worked steading, including a favorite of mine "666 Park Avenue."
Dominic Monaghan was already known for his work in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and has done a lot of work since.
Jorge Garcia, Daniel Dae Kim and O"Quiinn have had co-starring roles in "Hawaii Five-O"
Harold Perrineau and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje both were on "OZ" before "LOST" and have gotten work since.
Josh Holloway has gotten a lot of TV work including "Intelligence" (which I liked but didn't last) and currently "Colony."
Naveen Andrews appeared in an Academy Award-winning best picture "The English Patient'", did several Bollywood films, and has gotten several series since "LOST" including "Sense8" and currently "Instinct."
The rest of the cast is too numerous to evaluate but sure, for some of them, this series would have been it. I would say Matthew Fox really hasn't done much since, but he had a series, "Party of Five" which had a good run before LOST.
