I love the feel and look of thick white terry cloth robes but they are hell to launder. Impossible to keep clean and they basically take up all the room in the washer.

I like a medium-weight robe with something absorbent, but not too absorbent. Something that can work for winter or summer. Nothing that looks too feminine, but not something super YES I'M A MAN THIS IS MY ROBE FUCK OFF.

I like French terry robes. No extraneous lapels or hoods. Just above the knee length. I sleep in one. In winter sometimes I’ll wear a silk robe underneath for added warmth. I like being slightly confined while I sleep with a sheet, thin blanket, and cover.

I prefer real terry cloth robes like the terry cloth used to make luxury towels. I hate fleece robes and other robes made from fleecy fibers that do not absorb water. I prefer a darker color like navy because whites get dingy.

For years I've wanted a black cashmere robe.
Neiman Marcus used to sell them (and may still) but they were $2500.
Either cashmere or camel hair. Either way, still too much $$$.

A lot of bathrobes barely cover my butt because I'm very tall but I got a homemade navy blue dressing gown for Xmas a year ago that goes down to my shins. I love it more than any piece of clothing I've ever had because it's warm and I feel so well covered.
