Thanks. Now we know where you work.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 5, 2019 9:32 PM |
Nope, because that view says you work in the South Bay/San Jose.

R6 PUKE

The Bay Area has always resembled dry bushveld to me any time I’ve been there, nice to see some green.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 5, 2019 9:57 PM |
No, not jealous. I live in San Jose as well.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 5, 2019 10:02 PM |
Magical!

Watch out, OP. It was a very slight freeze in December of 1990 set the stage for the lethal Oakland hills fire in 1991.
To coin a phrase, "You in danger, gurrl!"
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 5, 2019 10:05 PM |
Oh, the irony of someone in San Jose saying “puke” about L.A.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 5, 2019 10:10 PM |
But such a great photo R6
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 5, 2019 10:14 PM |
It's a lovely photo, OP.
Why the sneering?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 5, 2019 10:16 PM |
The mountains are not that close to downtown LA.

Why the sneering?
This is Data Lounge, darling.

There are 8000-foot mountains less than 20 miles from DTLA. The nearest ones to the Bay Area are more like 120 miles away.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 5, 2019 11:54 PM |
Not those mountains.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 6, 2019 12:17 AM |
bump

I grew up in the Bay Area, and it seemed like most winters there would be snow on the hills at least once. Back in the day, snow down to 1000 feet happened several times a winter.
Had it stopped until now, then? I moved away 15 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 6, 2019 5:11 AM |
Nice view, OP. Ignore the haters.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 6, 2019 5:14 AM |
I love the snow capped hills here. It is so pretty. That has been a rare sight in the past few years.

R20 Snow on the hills? Which hills? I was born there, remember snow exactly twice. Once it snowed in San Francisco, and some joker tried skiing down California Street. Once in snowed up in the hills near 280 on the Burlingame/Hillsborough border, have a pic of the front of my Father's house with a few inches of snow on the garden and the street.

Nice picture, OP! I remember when it snowed in Rancho Santa Margarita in South OC a few years ago. At less than 1000’, too.
We’re having super cold lows (close to freezing) in the LA area the next few days. I wonder if there will be some snow again??

Vegas might have a dusting of snow as well tonight. True story follows: Last time it snowed in Vegas a Japanese tourist asked a casino concierge how snow was created to cover the entire Las Vegas strip. He couldn't believe it naturally snowed on palm trees.

Amazing photo, OP. Seriously, add a frame and damn that would be a beautiful picture.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 6, 2019 5:55 AM |
Hope Op stripped the meta data from the picture before he posted it.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 6, 2019 5:56 AM |
R27 what does that mean?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 6, 2019 6:26 AM |
"[R20] Snow on the hills? Which hills? "
R23, I grew up in Palo Alto and Redwood City, and every year or two there would be snow on the hills above that town. People would drive up Page Mill Road or Hwy 84 to Skyline Blvd, and play in the few inches of snow. It even snowed at sea levels in those areas every decade or two, I remember snow in Palo Alto in the seventies, and San Jose in the nineties, back before the cost of living drove me away. Fun fact, snow was common enough on Skyline that there were snowplows up there... only they were basically a detachable plow attached to a regular big forest service pickup truck!
Has the snow stopped? I left around 2000.

A big earthquake will hit bay area soon. Your office building will collapse and you will be struck by boulders so I am not jealous at all

Wow, OP is that really in the San Jose area? I grew up in Sonoma, and back then, every other year we would get snow in our hills. Now it is quite rare. I always thought places like San Jose were too warm/inland/protected to get snow. Beautiful shot!

OP’s photo looks like the view of the Mt Hamilton foothills from Alum Rock.
In response to the other questions: It still does snow up on Skyline (Hwy 35) once every couple of years.
