What’s wrong with Jeannie’s bottle in this photo?

Why does it look dirty inside? Usually her bottle was a cozy eastern paradise inside. Was this a plot line?

They couldn't find a taller, less dangerous ladder for Barbara to use?

by Anonymousreply 1January 26, 2019 4:22 PM

This thread is peak DL

by Anonymousreply 2January 26, 2019 4:23 PM

OP, it's just a poor photo. Look at Jeannie's clothes, they look dirty as well. Poor color filtering.

by Anonymousreply 3January 26, 2019 4:27 PM

She decorated her home the same way.

Why does it need a ladder to get into? Couldn’t they just have built it on the floor?

by Anonymousreply 5January 26, 2019 4:37 PM

color photos fade OP- just like your powers of deduction

by Anonymousreply 6January 26, 2019 4:41 PM

R5, I wondered that too.

by Anonymousreply 7January 26, 2019 4:45 PM

It's how the light is hitting the velvet fabric and the type of photo.

How do you not know this? Step away from your anime and look at real things.

by Anonymousreply 8January 26, 2019 4:55 PM

Or they could have built a staircase for it.

by Anonymousreply 9January 26, 2019 5:00 PM

I’m with OP. It looks like an intentional mess of the space and her clothes. Must have been a plot-line about something getting into the bottle.

by Anonymousreply 10January 26, 2019 5:01 PM

And the set is raised because they are going to film it in motion.

by Anonymousreply 11January 26, 2019 5:03 PM

Can I get in there too?

by Anonymousreply 12January 26, 2019 5:09 PM

Looks like powder or dust. Maybe for the cocaine plot line?

by Anonymousreply 13January 26, 2019 5:12 PM

Where did Jeannie go to the bathroom? Did she not cook? No books or something to pass the time?

Thinking back, I never realized how damned misogynistic this show was. Would never get made today.

by Anonymousreply 14January 26, 2019 5:25 PM

Yet no one is biting. Someone is trying to tell me that it is just a trick of the light on the velour, but I disagree. It looks like it has been made up to look abandoned.

by Anonymousreply 15January 26, 2019 5:59 PM

It's a photo that is over 50 years old, so it's obviously quite faded.

by Anonymousreply 16January 26, 2019 6:05 PM

Nah, I think it’s a story on the show or one of the movies. I’ll see if I can browse the episodes one by one. I figured someone here might be a big IDOJ fan.

by Anonymousreply 17January 26, 2019 6:08 PM

OP is obsessed.

by Anonymousreply 18January 26, 2019 6:08 PM

OP is blind and crazy.

by Anonymousreply 19January 26, 2019 6:42 PM

You mean it's not a real bottle?

by Anonymousreply 20January 26, 2019 6:44 PM

It is built off the floor so the bottle can be easily tilted when it is needed for a scene. It happened several times in the series.

by Anonymousreply 21January 26, 2019 7:45 PM

She was often reading in there, R14.

And drinking with visitors.

And vacuuming the dirt. Maybe OP is right and it WAS dirty for an episode.

Her son was so fine.

Was she born in 1931 or 1934?

I think the interior is littered with sand.

And the contraption the bottle is on is for shooting a scene when someone has picked up the bottle and then carries it around.

I recall scenes of Jeannie jostling about amidst purple pillows.

I wish I had a cylindrical room in my house. I would spare no expense to turn it into Jeannie’s bottle.

by Anonymousreply 26January 26, 2019 9:42 PM

Actually guys, that us Nancy Brees, Barbara Eden's stunt double for the episode "Sputnik Spitroast" were Master brings home a couple of horny Cosmonauts. Barbara's contract prohibits jizz of any nationality.

by Anonymousreply 27January 26, 2019 10:29 PM

Its all so slap together. The ladder! sheesh. They never get away with that now.

by Anonymousreply 28January 26, 2019 10:39 PM

Just looked up to check the age of Barbara Eden. Wow! She is now 87, born August 23, 1931.

by Anonymousreply 29January 26, 2019 10:45 PM

Why didn't the set carpenters build a ramp or staircase for easier access?

by Anonymousreply 30January 26, 2019 10:54 PM

Wasn't there an episode where there was a bunch of dust inside the bottle? Maybe something about her not having been in it for so long?

by Anonymousreply 31January 26, 2019 11:00 PM

Her son really looks a lot like his late father. I always felt sorry for Michael Ansara. A Lebanese man relegated to riding around on horses with a bow & arrow and feathers stuck in his head for much of his career.

by Anonymousreply 32January 26, 2019 11:02 PM

[quote]Why didn't the set carpenters build a ramp or staircase for easier access?

Because she was a thirty something capable woman, not the fucking Queen Of England. She's 87, she survived a ladder climb!

by Anonymousreply 33January 26, 2019 11:06 PM

R33, but she was also the star of the show. It’s hard to imagine producers expecting a TV star to climb a ladder nowadays.

by Anonymousreply 34January 26, 2019 11:14 PM

Why did Barbara and Michael divorce? Was it him or her?

I understand that she allegedly entertains elderly Japanese businessmen for income...hope that it’s not true.

by Anonymousreply 35January 26, 2019 11:18 PM

[QUOTE] It’s hard to imagine producers expecting a TV star to climb a ladder nowadays.

People didn’t lawyer up as much. It was a great gig, really the role of a lifetime that she still gets to benefit from. It was probably all part of the fun of being on the show.

by Anonymousreply 36January 27, 2019 5:17 AM

What are the details with Barbara making her income entertaining multiple Japanese men? I'd never heard that it was fact.

by Anonymousreply 37January 27, 2019 6:40 AM

Maybe Babs Eden trashed the place one weekend, and the pic is from when they came in one Monday and found she’d holed up in there with a case of Ouzo.

They might not be helping her UP the ladder, but down it.

by Anonymousreply 38January 27, 2019 6:55 AM

[quote]I understand that she allegedly entertains elderly Japanese businessmen for income...hope that it’s not true.

Barbara is 87, she ain't entertaining Japanese anything.

by Anonymousreply 39January 27, 2019 3:25 PM

Hilarious, R38.

by Anonymousreply 40January 27, 2019 4:42 PM

“I understand that she allegedly entertains elderly Japanese businessmen for income...hope that it’s not true.”

Such are the indiscretions of youth.

by Anonymousreply 41January 27, 2019 4:45 PM

Not true.

She actually works the autograph circuit and is one of the most popular and successful today. If you go to meet her, be prepared to wait in line.

Are there that many elderly Japanese businessmen less elderly than she is?

by Anonymousreply 44January 27, 2019 6:04 PM

Japan's a good market for eldertrade, with a quarter of the population being over 70.
