Unsolved Mysteries Being Rebooted By Netflix

Wow.

It was kind of updated years ago on Spike TV with Dennis Farina as the host. Robert Stack had died of cancer by the time this aired. It basically just took episodes from the original Unsolved Mysteries and had Dennis Farina do the voiceover to replace Stack. It would occasionally give updates on old cases. It never did a new case.

My brother and I used to love the show. Hope the reboot is a good one.

Yeah, the Farina one was awful and just a repackaged show with Stack deleted, probably so they didn't have to pay his estate or something. The new show will tackle one mystery per episode. I would love for Dean Stockwell to be the new host.

I love that the soundtrack to the show was released last year. Music stores had listening parties! lmao

True crime is popular, logical move by Netflix.

The Farina episodes also frequently cut the original segments down. They did do a good job with the updates though.

Anything to justify the increasing subscription cost...

The Dennis Farina episodes were not awful, I loved that they provided updates of many of the previous episodes during the Stack years. It would drive me crazy when there were no updates. I loved Dennis Farina (RIP), he was a cop before he became an actor. Anyhow, this was my favorite show back in the day; I am so glad they are bringing it back. It was enormously popular when it ran.

Robert Stack provided the creepiness that made the show good. It's not the same without him.

They need to cover the Brian Shaffer mystery.

It was scary/creepy. It was all upbeat and shit. It was awful!

I love that all the (nearly) uncut episodes of the Stack series are now available to watch on Amazon Prime now with updates. They cut a few segments at the request of the families.

What happened to the Raymond Burr specials?

by Anonymousreply 10January 18, 2019 8:28 PM

There were only two, r10. The served as the series pilots. The first was hosted by Burr and the second by Karl Malden. I don't know whether they're available to watch anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 11January 18, 2019 8:42 PM

^ I have to correct myself above. I looked it and there were seven specials, first hosted by Burr and then Malden.
