Why is Jake Choi In The Middle?

Vincent Rodriguez III (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”), Jake Choi (“Single Parents”) and Nico Santos (“Crazy Rich Asians”)
And all three asked to be in the middle - but only one could be in the middle and it went to Jake Choi.
Strange as Nick Santos was in the hit movie (“Crazy Rich Asians”) - so by that account shouldn't he be in the middle?
Yet the same could said for Vincent Rodriguez III (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”), he has lost 30 pounds and looks good. So by that account to celebrate his weight loss, he could be in the middle.
Yet they chose Jake Choi to be very front and center in the middle, while the other two guys are behind him like an afterthought.
So why?
