"Dennis Day" The Original Gayseketeer Missing

[quote]Friends of 76-year-old Phoenix resident Dennis Day have stepped up their efforts to locate the onetime Disney Mouseketeer, who has been missing since July.

[quote]On July 15, Day told his husband, Ernest Caswell, that he was going to visit friends. Uncharacteristically, he left his dog and cat behind and hasn’t been seen since.

[quote]His husband, whom he’s been in a relationship for 46 years, now suffers from a degree of age-related memory loss. Friends say Caswell’s hospitalization seemed to trigger a crisis, leading to Day’s departure. More than a week later, his car was discovered on the Oregon coast, being driven by persons unknown to Day’s friends. The driver told police that Day had given them permission to use it. No forensic evidence was found in the vehicle to suggest any struggle or foul play had occurred.

So apparently back in the day Dennis was an expert sword sallower.

Now it's time to say good-bye...

by Anonymousreply 2December 31, 2018 7:14 AM

Does Jack Benny know about this?

by Anonymousreply 3December 31, 2018 7:19 AM

Don Wilson) Did you see the race?

Dennis Day) That reminds me Mr Benny, here's the dollar I owe you

Don) Did you bet?

Denny) No I watched it at Mr Benny's house

by Anonymousreply 4December 31, 2018 8:52 PM

Jack) I thought you were great in the movie "King Solomon's Mines" Miss Kerr, but the last 15 seconds were ruined by some guy started talking and I didn't hear the ending.

Deborah Kerr) Would you like me to tell you what happened

Jack ) No that wouldn't be fair, I got my money back

by Anonymousreply 5December 31, 2018 8:54 PM

I'm confused, why would he take the cat and dog when he was visiting friends? And since Caswell was in the hospital, did they notice he was missing soon enough to find them alive?

Also a little confusing, the by line is Phoenix, but they lived in Oregon, so the car wasn't that far way from where it should be.

by Anonymousreply 6December 31, 2018 8:59 PM

So this is a different Dennis Day than the singer?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 7December 31, 2018 9:03 PM

Yes....two different people.

by Anonymousreply 8December 31, 2018 9:06 PM

He was from Phoenix, Oregon, which is about 60-70 miles to the Oregon coast, but I was initially confused by that, too, thinking he was in Phoenix, Arizona.

by Anonymousreply 9December 31, 2018 9:26 PM

Jack Benny was the king of comedians. A lot of his old shows are on YouTube. Some of them are uneven but when they work they are hilarious. Benny created a world of characters and Dennis Day was one of them. If you don' t know Benny's work I urge you to take a look.

by Anonymousreply 10December 31, 2018 9:51 PM

Well...

by Anonymousreply 11December 31, 2018 9:55 PM

Dennis Day THE SINGER died in 1988 (1916 - 1988) age 72.

Dennis Day was also the name of an original Mouseketeer. He is gay and was probably molested by that obese pedo-mouseketeer Roy Williams

That is the Dennis Day that is missing.

by Anonymousreply 12December 31, 2018 9:56 PM

Only 12 replies? No one cares about a missing elder gay....How sad

by Anonymousreply 13January 1, 2019 4:17 AM

Is he related to Doris Von Keppelhoff?

by Anonymousreply 14January 1, 2019 4:22 AM

Weren’t they all gay? Cubby is the gayest name ever.

by Anonymousreply 15January 1, 2019 4:25 AM

Jack- Now Mary, it's St. Patty's day. Why aren't you wearing anything green?

Mary- Sure I am Jack, see?

Jack- Well, that's lovely. What is it?

Mary- It's the gold bracelet you gave me for Christmas.

by Anonymousreply 16January 1, 2019 4:30 AM

R12 I'm all for being irreverent on here, but to call someone a pedo when, I mean, he wasn't, it pretty low.

by Anonymousreply 17January 1, 2019 4:33 AM

"Oh Don.....!"

by Anonymousreply 18January 1, 2019 10:20 AM

Jack Benny has nothing to do with this.

The Dennis Day on The Jack Benny Program is not the same person as the missing Mouseketeer.

One would think this doesn't need repeating further.

by Anonymousreply 19January 1, 2019 10:42 AM

"To call someone a pedo when, I mean, he wasn't" is the very essence of certain Dataloungetarians.

by Anonymousreply 20January 1, 2019 10:52 AM

I had sex with a gay Mouseketeer who lived in my building on W. 69th Street, back in the mid-'70s. I can't remember his name. Or his dong. It wasn't Cubby. It wasn't Jimmy. Bobby, maybe?

by Anonymousreply 21January 1, 2019 10:54 AM

Annette Funindajello?

by Anonymousreply 22January 1, 2019 10:58 AM

R21 would have remembered Annette's dick, R22.

by Anonymousreply 23January 1, 2019 2:40 PM

by Anonymousreply 30January 1, 2019 3:58 PM

Is this the kid who was fired when Walt Disney found out he was gay?

by Anonymousreply 31January 1, 2019 4:02 PM

No, it was Tommy Kirk … While filming "The Misadventures of Merlin Jones," Kirk started seeing a 15-year-old boy he had met at a local swimming pool. The boy's mother discovered the affair and informed Disney, who elected not to renew Kirk's contract. Kirk was 21 years old. Walt Disney himself fired Kirk after receiving a complaint from the boy's mother.

by Anonymousreply 32January 1, 2019 4:10 PM

R21, are you sure it wasn't Johnny Crawford from "The Rifelman?" He was a West Sider when we hooked-up.

by Anonymousreply 39January 1, 2019 5:55 PM

[R21], are you sure it wasn't Johnny Crawford from "The Rifleman"? He was a West Sider when we hooked-up.

I don't think so. I probably would've recognized Johnny Crawford, as I used to watch "The Rifleman." I watched the Mickey Mouse Club, but mostly for Spin and Marty, not the actual Mouseketeers. Speaking of which, I definitely would have recognized Tim Considine. He and Tommy Kirk (The Hardy Boys) were my first crushes.

R40 - I was a big fan, too, but I didn't recognize Tim Considine when I met him in the early 2010's....maybe because he was so short....wikipedia says 5'9" - but seemed about 5'5" to me....

by Anonymousreply 50February 17, 2019 3:20 PM

I hope it wasn't a hookup gone wrong. I don't mean to stereotype, being gay myself and resenting the insinuations that we're all sex-obsessed ho-bags who will put out for anyone male who will say yes, but we have to consider all possibilities.

by Anonymousreply 51February 17, 2019 3:48 PM

A lot of the boy "mouseketeers" ping in that countdown clip

by Anonymousreply 52February 28, 2019 3:46 AM

Oh please, the meth addict killed him . Dennis didnt even want the guy in their house,so as soon as Ernie was out of the way Meth head killed him. I bet he stole all their valuables while at their house alone. Poor old soul.

by Anonymousreply 53February 28, 2019 3:54 AM

r53, that's what I thought, too

by Anonymousreply 54February 28, 2019 4:04 AM

It really sounds like the methhead who'd moved in killed Dennis after Ernie was taken to the hospital, Dennis didn't want the methhead there and probably tried to throw the bum out once it was just the two of them in the house, and the methhead sold Dennis and Ernie's car for drug money. But with no sign of Dennis and Ernie too deep into dementia to be of help, the police aren't moving against the methhead because there's no evidence a crime has taken place.

This world is a dangerous place for eldergays. Their families were no help, the hired help has probably committed murder and theft, and the police aren't doing squat for the gay citizens of the community.

by Anonymousreply 55February 28, 2019 4:17 AM

This does seem like a "Forensic Files" in the making. Very sad, I hope Dennis is found soon, that Ernie fully recovers, and they both go on for many more years of married bliss.

by Anonymousreply 56February 28, 2019 4:35 AM

r55 the world is a dangerous place for everybody now. All the attention on the "opioid epidemic" when the real issue is meth. Oxy addicts don't stay up for three days on the pipe, getting paranoid, planning elaborate crimes and going psychotic.

On another note, is it bad that DL has corrupted me to the point I immediately pictured a seedy motel room with flashing lights and a fisted grandpa?

by Anonymousreply 57February 28, 2019 6:23 AM

Bump for eldergays

by Anonymousreply 58March 1, 2019 5:09 AM

It is scary out there. There is so much hostility in the world right now and there is hostility toward the eldergays.

by Anonymousreply 59March 1, 2019 5:18 AM

Bumping for Dennis

by Anonymousreply 60March 27, 2019 3:33 AM

Was the Dennis Day from the Jack Benny show also gay? He seemed it on the show.

by Anonymousreply 61March 27, 2019 3:46 AM

Lenny Bruce always accurately described Annette Funicello as "the Mouseketeer with tits."

DL fave Ann Blythe was married to the Jack Benny Dennis Day's brother for years and years and I think the Day bros had about 37 kids between them. Good Catholic boys.

by Anonymousreply 67April 6, 2019 3:03 PM

You need a warrant to search a house.

by Anonymousreply 68April 6, 2019 3:19 PM

^Then you get one when someone is missing and you are investigating their disappearance. Duh.

by Anonymousreply 70April 6, 2019 3:29 PM

[quote]You need a warrant to search a house.

You only need a warrant if the homeowner doesn’t give permission and to search for evidence of a crime. You don’t need a warrant to check for a person in the house, specifically if one is reported missing. It’s one of the first things done when a child is reported missing in case they went somewhere to hide for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 71April 6, 2019 3:47 PM

Maybe he was a hoarder ? This is sad.

by Anonymousreply 72April 6, 2019 3:58 PM

R71, he wasn't a child

by Anonymousreply 73April 6, 2019 4:18 PM

by Anonymousreply 74April 6, 2019 4:26 PM

R74, r71 was talking about missing children

by Anonymousreply 75April 6, 2019 5:52 PM

R75, I am r71. I wasn’t talking about missing children. I used that as an example that as soon as someone (anyone, man woman or child) goes missing the police look in the house, usually with the owners permission and without a warrant.

by Anonymousreply 76April 6, 2019 6:03 PM

So, in other words, you WRRE talking about missing children?

You have to wonder what happened. Did he go to get away from the stress and happened to die, or was it suicide? Was he murdered in the home?

The cops really bungled this one. Searching his other properties should have been one of the first things they did.

by Anonymousreply 88April 7, 2019 10:42 AM

Well, some people said he "gave" them his car. I would start with them.

by Anonymousreply 89April 7, 2019 10:54 AM

So where has the husband been all this time. Is he in a nursing home now? I can't believe he'd still be in the hospital. Did he never return to the home after he went to the hospital when Day was first reported missing?

The overall media reporting on this case is abysmally inadequate.

by Anonymousreply 90April 7, 2019 11:30 AM

They said the body was found at a house he owns. Sounds like it was another home, not his primary residence.

by Anonymousreply 91April 7, 2019 11:55 AM

[quote]Can’t imagine what kind of shape the body is in after all this time.

Not to mention the stench.

Now we may never know what killed him. Was it homicide, suicide, did he just die naturally? With the state of decomposition, it may be impossible for the coroner to tell.

by Anonymousreply 92April 7, 2019 12:14 PM

Bad police work; bad reporting; stupid people.

They'll probably chalk it up to 'gay suicide' and absolve themselves.

by Anonymousreply 93April 7, 2019 12:45 PM
