One hour seems too short for an OD. Like they checked in at 12pm and then at 1:15 he was dead.

Some of you making a big deal about it happening at noon need to remember that he was a morning anchor. Apparently, he had anchored the news yesterday morning. So his workday probably started at about 2 or 3 a.m. He probably went to the motel after his work shift ended. For him, noon was like most people's evening. (Not that it makes it any less sad and sordid, but ...)

Recent Trip Advisor review of the scene of the crime:
Dirty Dump Dec 13, 2018 I found the Days Inn to be the perfect location, just 1 mile from a work travel location! PERFECT I thought. When you enter the lobby, it looks and smells like something from the 1980's. Then you walk to the elevators and it makes me wish I had a jar of alcohol wipes as everything is dirty and dingy. Then once in the room, oh my gosh, old, broken, run down. How can Wyndham who I trusted as a company associated with quality, allow itself to be associated with this dump. If youre looking for convenience and dont care about cleanliness then this is the place for you.

The details surrounding his death are highly suspect. I wonder if any more information will be revealed publicly after police conduct their investigation or will it remain private to protect his family and KTLA? Drugs and/or sex are really the only plausible reasons for a local resident to be visiting a motel during the day without his spouse or family in tow.

The life of a closeted gay man doesn't seem like much fun. Why get innocent women and children involved in your sordid life of being on the down low. Do not marry a woman, unless you marry a lesbian who is in on everything.
As a gay man, I'd never get involved with a 'straight' married man. A friend was involved with a few, everything was so sleazy and clandestine. At least they didn't have to meet in some fleabag hotel. My friend has his own apartment, the married men would go there. The' drama', it was laughable and repetitious, none of the situations seemed hot. I don't get the appeal.
Perhaps if you need the self-created drama, then go for it, otherwise, stay with your own, 100% out gay men.

The original call to police stated Burrous may have overdosed, but detectives will await the Los Angeles County coroner’s office report for a determination of the cause of death, Suttles said."

I looked up the hotel and it initially doesn't look so bad - not the seedy dingy motel you may be thinking of, but mostly terrible reviews across the board. It looks to be about $100 a night. I'm pretty sure Glendale isn't "that bad" but I don't know the city as well as I used to. Some recent reviews:
This place is disgusting!!! Days Inn/Wyndham should be ashamed to associate their name with this property. It is old, smelly, moldy, and just down right nasty. To charge over $100 per night is robbery. I'm seriously scared to sleep in the bed. Anyone rating this hotel with more then one star is staying here free or being paid for their review. If I had not arrived so late I would leave.
I found the Days Inn to be the perfect location, just 1 mile from a work travel location! PERFECT I thought. When you enter the lobby, it looks and smells like something from the 1980's. Then you walk to the elevators and it makes me wish I had a jar of alcohol wipes as everything is dirty and dingy. Then once in the room, oh my gosh, old, broken, run down. Also he probably did not make that much. It says he lived in Porter Ranch which is pretty far from the KTLA studio in Hollywood. That Glendale location is a little out of the way home and closer to Hollywood. than Porter Ranch. Maybe his friend worked at Disney or Dreamworks or some other place in the area. People who are “shocked!” to learn of the tendency of white bi men and Asian women to marry need to go back to iVillage.
It’s an old story.
Why, it happens, I have no idea. But happen it does.
Speaking personally, I’ve multiple White gay friends from college (two were regular hookups) who married Asian women. Since Asian women were only a smallish percentage of my class, the trend was noticeable and striking.
Who knows? Maybe the women were strongly inclined toward a White guy as a protective buffer amidst the US’s otherwise anti-Asian bias? Maybe the guys also are roughly Kinsey 4s; afraid of being perceived as gay, but not so turned on by women as to actively pursue female partners until, comes time to marry for business/social reasons, one ardently leaps into his lap. At least something like tht seems to have happened among my acquaintances.
Whatever the reason, I’m surprised so many people on a gay board are oblivious.

Burrous and his wife Mai met when both were journalists at KGET in Bakersfield. Interracial marriages happen frequently out here in the big city. We marry co-workers, high school sweethearts, friends of friends, etc. Yet some of you act like Burrous ordered her from some mail order catalog or that she married him for "the priviledge of a white spouse." Despicable.

It's because asian women are the only ones who will put up with having a closet case as a husband. As long as he's white, they don't care. He gets a beard, and she gets mixed race kids. Win-win, I guess.
And yes, most of them know... even before they get married.

I worked in a Asia-centric field in academia and lived in Asia. The white guys who sought Asian girlfriends/wives did so because Asian women are more tolerant-- or more resigned to-- men cheating on them with other women. I don't recall one case of the guy using an Asian woman as cover for gay trysts. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, but it seems to be more about getting away with being an asshole to women.

I didn't fall for anything. I watched what happened up close, when I was out socializing with the white guys and in private conversations with the Asian women who were my friends. At least in Japan, adultery is tolerated and it always has been. I always thought he was kinda cute and funny too He is of Italian descent I assumed he was straight since he was married and had a child (maybe the male with him was his dealer or friend)
The possible OD drug thing is kinda sad and shocking but not surprising a lot of white collar upper class well to do professional people can and do have addictions like drugs and alcohol.
I dated 2 white guys (1 was an actor and the other a stockbroker) older than me that both smoked pot secretly and also pot brownies.
i also dated a guy my age (20-something) that came from a wealthy family (both parents doctors) that had a secret cocaine habit (he said he only did it when he partied) i broke up with him when he almost OD on me one night...took him to the ER.
He said "you think you're better than me because your vice is legal and mine is not?" ( i like to drink alcohol booze hard liquor)
So addiction is not just of the poor and minorities.
I drink to forget...it helps me relax and unwind. I did smoke pot a few times in high school at weekend parties but that is it...no cocaine or any of the other stuff.

I wish that the racist posters could include demographic data on themselves in the byline so that we could come back with some hateful generalizations based on their information.
I’m guessing that most of you racist misogynists are Eldergays, as am I, so I have some insight into what makes you what you are.
And I am guessing that you are deeply dissatisfied with your lives and embittered about a changing world that offers more people a shot at genuine happpiness and acceptance than you ever had.
I’m sorry about that.
But it’s no excuse for fanning the flames of hatred and fear that are raging across the entire nation.
Your racist posts lump you in with the Trump crowd whom I assume you otherwise rail against. Perhaps show your true colors and join Trump’s coalition of ignorance and fear.
You might find the acceptance there that has eluded you up to this sad point in your lives.

Your armchair (and deranged) assessment of my embittered life and "demo" couldn't be more off the mark (31 yo, str8, married, NYC born & bred pac-asian female if it's any of your f'ing business) and frankly reeks of the same judgemental and hateful stereo-generalizations that you so grandly purport to loathe.
Feel the need to look lob any more inaccurate and loony generalizations my way, you elder putz? Bring it the fuck on cuz I will kick your hypocritical, holier than tho, bleeding-heart ass, you self-loathing mofo.

A drug den in Inglewood is not a step or two above Days Inn in Glendale. Within a half mile of the hotel is the wealthiest part of Glendale with multi-million dollar houses, like the two in Better Off Dead. Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Jake Johnson, Eva Mendes, The Game, Annie Potts, and DL legends Vic Tayback and Don Knotts lived in the area.
by Anonymous | reply 247 | December 29, 2018 5:24 PM |
Glendale is mostly middle class to wealthy.
Anyhow, the hotel he was found in is a known drug den for those who work in the area or live in the area.
It’s not a total shithole, but it’s definitely not a high end location.

Poor wife & kids. One minute your husband/dad says “See you later” as he leaves for work. The next minute you get a text he’s dead of a probable OD in a motel room with a male friend. Bad enough he died suddenly, but the sleaze factor is off the charts.
by Anonymous | reply 253 | December 29, 2018 8:04 PM |
Is there something particular about a drug overdose that would make it appear different right off the bat from a heart attack, or did they know it was a drug overdose based on what the friend told them? Like the guy took some drugs and had an immediate bad reaction?

That Christmas day video on his facebook is just heartbreaking.
The home does not look like what i expected it would look like, its quite nice and unique.
I set my alarm to wake up and watch the KTLA morning news this morning...for Lynette Romero
Yes i too caught when she mentioned that he was a size 14 shoe.
I don't think he was gay...i never got that vibe...if anything maybe bi curious.
I doubt it was more than a drug overdose....he doesn't look like the hook up type.
And i also agree the last couple weeks, especially since Thanksgiving he was acting like he was high, on upper, lots of energy on air, i would even say a bit manic.
by Anonymous | reply 286 | December 30, 2018 1:41 AM |
If he was making 250K or so, he probably had life insurance at 2 or 3 times that amount. So the wife might make $750k off of it. Hopefully, they would have had insurance to cover the mortgage, too, but that's not a given. She'll come out okay but not "set for life" with a daughter to raise and college to pay for. Did she work, still?
by Anonymous | reply 287 | December 30, 2018 1:47 AM |
R246, the generalization was the point, dear.
I doubt your demographic confession is true, but if it is, why keep festering on a gay board when your bile is a better fit for 4chan? You can crow about your novelty status there and find fans all over that board. Here, most consider you an intrusion. I don’t, though. I just think you’re limited and sour.
And yeah, I’m old. Your disparagement on that count is as predictable as it is tired.
And if you, as a straight Asian married woman, are in accord with the numerous posts on this board making generalizations about Asian women, I suggest you spend more time figuring out what’s your plan b after you find your husband getting spit roasted by two sweaty bears in your own bed.

Another example of "there is no such thing as the perfect life." All those public media personalities and famous "stars" (I put in quotes because stardom in the digital age is more diluted and watered down than in past eras...EVERYONE is famous now, it seems) who seem so happy and who some aspire to be like? It seems like the pendulum always swings back the other way in private. Salacious goings on. Depression. Drug use. Mental problems. I am saddened by this story (had no idea who this guy was) but not surprised. Is ANYONE surprised, really? I think it is as likely as not that there was some clandestine gay sex involved but would not be surprised if there was not. Drugs in a seedy motel is a plenty sad enough way to go. It's such a Hollywood way to go, unfortunately. Godspeed to his family and friends.

I don't think we'll ever find out who the male companion was and the nature of their relationship. I wonder if the DL theory holds that the room belonged to the guy. That makes more sense because KTLA is on Sunset. There are so many no-tell motels in that surrounding that it's crazy to get a room in Glendale.

Yes, anything can be cut with fentanyl because it's really fucking cheap. It's not like the good old days when all you had to worry about was baby laxative in cocaine. I'm old and boriing now and don't do drugs anymore, but if I did, I might stop because of all the fentanyl out there.

From personal experience, I agree with R279. Of course his wife knew something was going on. Now, that doesn't mean she wasn't in denial about it. I have a brother who during his years in college got heavily involved with drugs. At first my whole family ignored it then we tried to play the "he just does it once and a while but he's not an addict" problem. It was only one day when police had arrested him my parents had to bail him out from jail covered in his own barf and shit that we got him into rehab.
I don't get a gay vibe from Burrous but that doesn't mean anything. Someone said his family is Italian, well if were in the closet I wouldn't be surprised.

R269 fentanyl is sometimes packaged and sold as febtanyl but it is usually mixed in covertly with heroin (most commonly) or other drugs. There are geographic differences in what it might be mixed into. In NYC, it has been found in some batches cocaine and some batches of street manufactured pills passed off as Xanax. In some jurisdictions, it’s been found in some batches of meth. Fentanyl cannot be detected by taste or smell so it’s a gamble with each hit whether fentanyl is included and how much. So when someone is used to using a certain amount based in heroin only, but a fair amount of fentanyl is present it is equivalent it means they have accidentally taken a bigger hit than expected. Even the occasional coke user who is unlucky enough to take a hit adulterated with enough fentanyl can have an opioid overdose.
Anyone who uses heroin or coke at all in NYC needs to use the th a friend, take turns spacing out with their hits, go slower than usual with their consumption, and have narcan on site (the friend will need to administer it and that would be hard if they both used and od’ed at the same time). In NYC, anyone with insurance can get narcan under their insurance without a script at most chain pharmacies. They can also get free narcan at state-authorized syringe exchanges listed on both NYC and NYS health department websites.

R149 His home in Porter Ranch is the area of that neighborhood that's situated south of the 118 adjacent to Northridge. I think property values are lower there. Real estate records indicate that he and his wife bought the place in 2012. It was a short sale purchased for $370K. Seems like it was a fairly average West San Fernando Valley home (3 bdrm 2 bath in 1660 sq ft) built in 1959. Apparently, they've given up the attached two car garage and converted that into more living space with it now showing as a 5 bdrm 3 bath home in 2100 sq ft, no garage. So it's current appraised value based on square footage is somewhat questionable. Probably put it in the neighborhood of $750K now.
If the wife has to move, she might be better off keeping it and trying to lease it for income.

It was a pretty high pressure job, especially recently since they are on for six hours in the morning, and everyone lives and dies on the ratings, so that probably didn't help someone who seems to have used drugs regularly, and maybe did so because of this.

I've seen a lot of tributes to news anchors in different cities, like Bill Bonds who was as legendary as a local news man can get. Most of them are by colleagues who obviously wrote them out typically and professionally.
The personal memories shared from other news anchors in LA, Sacramento and New York, with funny, potentially embarrassing stories, show that he really was a nice. guy.

Is it typical for the circumstances of his death being so widely disseminated so quickly, or was that because the EMTs and others recognized him and word spread fast? This TV news gossip website has a few new details and hints more will likely be coming out. It suggests Burrous had been living a “double life.” Supposedly he told the wife he was at a meeting to plan Rose Bowl coverage when he was actually at the Days Inn. KTLA allegedly found out he was dead when reporters from other stations started calling to get a comment. And the man who called EMS is reportedly “known” to police.

Actually, I feel sorry for the kid, too. I also think it's tragic that her greedy maternal side of the family has set up a completely unwarranted Go Fund Me account for her and her mom. These are affluent people. Save Go Fund Me for people who real need it, not money grubbers who are very obviously making the best of a bad situation. Do we know who he was with in the hotel room?
by Anonymous | reply 395 | January 1, 2019 12:03 AM |
From r383 :
Anyone who supervised Chris would tell you at the time that he was far from a model employee. Chris, sometimes, pushed the envelope too far — when TMZ launched their TV show in 2007, one of their first stories focused on a controversial Good Day segment where Chris visited a homeless encampmentand gave a transient woman McDonald’s and beer.
Controversy also seemed to find Chris when he wasn’t trying: That same year as the TMZ incident, Chris and his team at CBS13.com were thrust into the national spotlight when radio personality Rush Limbaugh criticized the program for running a poll asking if a song called “Barack the Magic Negro” that Limbaugh played during his show was racist (Limbaugh later ran a poll of his own, asking if Chris and others on the show were “morons”).
Chris had more than one sit-down with station management in Sacramento over his antics. It was not something he was unfamiliar with: He often confided, to me and to others — and once, to Good Day viewers themselves — that sometimes pushing the envelope came with consequences. Before coming to Sacramento, Chris worked at a television station in Bakersfield, where he was eventually fired for dressing up as the town’s mayor during an event at a local bar.
Chris was not afraid to admit when he was wrong, but he did so by also complaining when he knew station management to be wrong. Managers are tasked with, among other things, keeping order and working through chaos. More often than not, Chris brought the chaos, because he thrived on disorder — not for the sake of being rambunctious (though he was), but for the sake of being real. It was intoxicating, and it helped shape my own attitude and behavior very early on in my career — which, more than once, got me in trouble and earned me my own trips to a news organization’s equivalent of the principle’s office.
Some of our conversations over the years amounted to little more than ranting about how managers didn’t “get it” and how we’d both kind of do our own things anyway. But Chris also had the ability to maintain great, lasting relationships with certain people who did “get it” or could otherwise provide his career with some kind of value. One of those people was Steve Charlier, a former manager at KMAX who later became an executive with the Tribune Company. Chris was not a huge fan of Charlier’s management style, but he liked Charlier and he saw maintaining a friendly relationship with him as one way to get ahead in his career.
by Anonymous | reply 396 | January 1, 2019 12:10 AM |
Chris told me more than once that his ultimate dream job was to land at a station in Southern California. He grew up in the Central Valley, where television markets tend to be smaller than they are in the rest of the state, and he idolized people who worked in Los Angeles news. Specifically, Chris wanted to work at KTLA, a station whose morning show served as the framework for KMAX’s Good Day. KTLA was owned by the Tribune Company. Charlier was in a position to make it happen for Chris.
In early 2010, there were no opportunities at KTLA for Chris. But Charlier did reach out with an offer for Chris to work as an anchor the morning show at WPIX in New York City. New York is a larger market than Los Angeles by just one step, and Chris saw it as a major opportunity to move up in his career — because, as they saying goes, if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. He put in his year at WPIX before asking for a transfer to KTLA to be closer to his parents(Chris was a family man first and a broadcaster second).
KTLA staffers were initially apprehensive about “the new guy from New York,” particularly since his transfer was approved by a member of an unpopular executive team in Chicago that many at the company did not like (I know this from first-hand experience; KTXL, where I worked for two years in my first TV job, was owned by the Tribune Company — and like the station, the company was a mess). But once they saw him in action, they accepted Chris and eventually revered him as a talented broadcaster who was an engaging jack-of-all-trades, seamlessly moving from his recurring segments on local eateries to covering breaking news in an instant, or otherwise filling in wherever he was needed.

I'm surprised by all the nice comments on this thread. Usually DL is well... DL. It will probably be a while before we find out all the sordid details.
by Anonymous | reply 398 | January 1, 2019 12:11 AM |
For almost a decade, viewers in Los Angeles have had the opportunity to get to know the Chris Burrous that we all saw on display during his nearly five years in Sacramento. He was not above stopping what he was doing in public to take photos with viewers. When a viewer wrote about a recipe she’d created, he called her after the show and asked to stop by her home so he could learn how to create that recipe. There were dozens of people he invited into the studio to observe his work process and take in the magic that is television news. If he could poke holes in the invisible wall between broadcasters and viewers, he actively sought to poke those holes.
Broadcasters who push their own celebrity aside to make their audiences feel loved and special are a rare breed these days. Chris was that and so much more. He had a keen awareness of the magical bond that broadcast radio and television could create between audience and talent, and he let nothing — not ratings, not management, not even himself — stand in the way of nurturing that relationship.
The details of Chris’ passing are still largely unknown, but his death is the subject of a police investigation where overdose is suspected. In coping through these last 24 hours, I’ve largely tried to avoid learning more about how he died because it is almost guaranteed that those details will come out and that it will be hard for all of us to stomach. Not too many of us are ready for that just yet.
Part of the coping mechanism in dealing with his loss has been to reach out to mutual friends and former co-workers. Until yesterday, I had no idea that Chris struggled with certain forms of drug addiction — I never saw it first hand, never suspected it, and we never discussed it. But others, apparently, did know about it. Some tried to intervene, but most did not. It is not entirely clear to me that strenuous intervention efforts would have helped: Chris was the type of person who believed he was right until he was proven wrong, and even after acknowledging a mistake, the consequences rarely mattered to him — he had a way of picking himself up, dusting himself off, and moving on. When people asked me how I was able to keep myself together after getting into some troubles, it was because I was inspired by how Chris kept himself together when he got into trouble.
You can always recover from the consequences, until you can’t. Untimely death is one of those consequences, and it affects not just the person who dies but everyone else who is around them — the hundreds of acquaintances, friends, colleagues and people on the periphery who were not quite ready for that person to go, and in many ways still need them in their lives.

Tom has quite the hot body, which he shows off occasionally on his Instagram. Sometimes wearing a speedo, sonetimes just shirtless sometimes just flip flop (and pants). He had sone cute pool pix from the National Gay and Lesbian Journalists’ convention in Palm Springs about three months ago.

But I totally understand, my partner's sister is just like this, have kids, parents have jobs but won't buy life insurance. They spend money like water and don't have much savings at all.
They will have to economize and downsize. Unless the widow can find another man to marry.

Here in my hometown we had a police officer, his corrections officer wife and their 2 teens involved in a dui crash with some stupid drunk bitch. The wife was killed, the cop badly hurt but the kids were okay. Now mind you,the cop and his wife were both current employees of the police force, with good health insurance and Im sure some sort of life insurance , so we arent talking some Arbys employee here. Theyve had multiple fundraisers for them,as well as go fund mes to "help" with the medical bills. During that same week a young black woman was also killed in a wreck and she had 2 kids and Im sure they could have sorely used some extra money, yet crickets. She worked, she took care of her kids and seemed an all around good person, yet only one mention on the news and we heard about that cop every single day for 2 weeks!
A couple of years ago some stupid redneck cop in a small town near me was chasing an illegal mexican and ran onto a busy highway and was mowed down by a semi. Again, fundraisers out the ying yang and they even raised money to put up a fucking statue of the goober. That christmas they did a news segment showing the enormous pile of gifts donated to his little girl,Im talking a pile 4 feet high! Again,Im sure his wife had insurance coming to her,and most likely a pension of some sort. And Id bet my bottom dollar they also received a nice fat sum from fundraisers. People that would benefit the most from go fund me etc are ignored, yet people like that idiot cop get 100s of 1000s .Its all a scam.

The KTTV's Gigi Graciette GoFundMe topped it's $75,000 goal as of this morning:
On behalf of Chris's family, THANK YOU.
The outpouring of love and support - thru your comments, prayers and donations - are a source of comfort during this trying and dark time.
The goal of his friends here is to be able to lessen at least one of the immediate concerns. We want Mai to be able to grieve and focus on their daughter without worrying, at least right now, about what's next.
For now, the family is beginning to plan for Chris's funeral.
Mai's sister Rosemary also started a GoFundMe account to help out. Both of these accounts - this one and hers - are legitimate and as of now are the ONLY ones.
More updates later.
For now, please continue to keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

Why do so many people seem to think that dying of an overdose renders one's life insurance policy unpayable?
Do you also think that if someone falls climbing El Capitan that invalidates one's life insurance? Or sky diving with a chute failure?
You people can sometimes be shockingly clueless.

life insurance policy- will pay from an accidental death BUT not from an - illegal - drug - use - overdose. So most likely her claim will be denied. She can try to appeal but they will tell her to read her policy....all those pages including the fine print.
$76,485 of $75,000
$30,990 of $50,000
total so far from both - $107, 475......BUT that's before GoFundMe takes their administration cut/percentage/tax
i have a feeling Chris was in charge of all the finances and probably left the family very low in cash and in debt.

Life insurance individually purchased in the open market usually carries a one year exclusion for a death by suicide. Life Insurance that comes through an employer group might not have that exclusion.
If the policy is in good order and the death is by suicide, and not within the customary one year exclusion period, it should pay out.

Another option is to go for and/or accept a much-reduced settlement on a life insurance policy, which is what the Michael Jackson admins opted to go for when they figured the toxicology reports would come back showing drugs. In that case, the insurer went along with it - handing over $3 million on a $20 million policy (or just 15%) with litigation being avoided.

I knew a guy in radio who made a lot of money and spent it all as soon as he got paid. I saw the future of radio was going to dry up with phones where people could listen to music or podcasts & told my husband “you need to tell him to start saving because he’s going to be let go in about 2 years.”
My husband tried but the guy just didn’t listen. He also did drugs & online gambled. Long story - lost his show, wife divorced him because she thought they were saving money all this time and there was $0 in their savings account.
So now they’re all basically living in poverty except for the daughter — she got a free ride at a private university because her family’s income was below the poverty level.
They sold their house for $200k less than they paid for it
You’d never know it from his on-Air persona.

Meanwhile, he has to be buried and funeral expenses are no joke. He was young enough to have not made any funeral arrangements. But even so, who ducking cares? If there is a clause in his insurance that is debatable, most likely the insurance company will settle. That's what happened with Michael Jackson. Don't worry about the wife- she'll be rolling in sushi soon enough.

When's the funeral (or cremation)? It'll be ten days tomorrow.
The coroner released Tom Petty's body to the mortuary after four days..

Haven’t you all seen Ted Schmidt’s PNP storyline on QAF?

Three days ago, the family announced that they were "starting" to plan a funeral, but the only news since then has been about Raj donating money.
by Anonymous | reply 546 | January 4, 2019 9:11 PM |
According to the cornoer, the body has been released.
by Anonymous | reply 547 | January 4, 2019 9:22 PM |
R547 should be about time to start another go fund me account for body preparation? You think?

R540, you are being trolled by none other than Poo Shoes, the deplorable Bellagio Maid. Whodunit is one of her obsessions. Another is posting vitriol against gay people on a gay message board. Another is arguing for the sake of argument.

"People should not have kids if they can't afford to take care of them, or lack the brains to plan for them"
If you don't have the brains to understand that GoFundMe is voluntary, and that no one is MAKING you give them money....

Nevertheless, he has put the future of his family at the mercy of crowdfunding, rendering them beggars.
Awful parent, horrible spouse.

They might simply have been two coworkers grabbing a beer and watching a pay per view fight on hotel cable. It's a stressful job with weird hours, and news rooms are a tribe.

R557 yes, you’re probably right. I know I take my coworkers to motel rooms just to have lunch.
by Anonymous | reply 558 | January 5, 2019 5:44 AM |
They are prob coworkers who split the motel costs to do heavy drugs. It was an accident and the dead guy is an asshole

R560/R561 She has shitted out her annual Jon Benet Ramsey Whodunnit thread this week. While she is still adamant that John Ramsey was fucking her with Mama Patsy's permission, she has soft pedaled the Satanic Ritual Abuse part of her theory thank god. In last year's thread she was pretty much ridiculed by all for her absurd fixation with the "Elites" and their propensity to be pedophiles trading kiddies among each other from state to state.

TMZ and the Daily Mail are still staying away from this story. We should have known who the friend is, by now.

Regarding GoFundMes for well-off people. Co-worker had horrible illness two months ago. Husband is an MD and they are very comfortable. Daughter posted a Gofundme, which made over 5k. The woman ade a complete recovery and just posted from a spa where she is sipping champagne and having a "deluxe pedicure." Gross.
Conclusion: GoFundMes have evolved into an expression of narcissism. Why people contribute when someone is not in need financially is beyond me.

The Daily Mail did something early on. There does seem to be a “hands off” approach to this woth all media, maybe because it’s a fellow journalist.

Judging from his behavior on camera I would say it was more of a stimulant that was his drug of choice.

[quote] There's really been no follow up because there's nothing to add.
Plus, it wasn't a crime.
Some of you are expecting this to be on Dateline or something, but the truth is that it was just an overdose. Same thing that happens in seedy motels across the country, every single day.
The only thing that made this one noteworthy, is that he was semi-famous. Other than that, it's just another junkie who OD'ed.
Nothing to see here.
by Anonymous | reply 584 | January 7, 2019 3:20 AM |
I disagree. I think, out of some sort of professional courtesy, his buds in the media have gathered the wagons and have agreed to not report anything seedy that may have come through the grapevine. Though, the toxicology reports and autopsy results are usually public record so they'll most likely be made available to the public.
by Anonymous | reply 585 | January 7, 2019 3:45 AM |
Inquiring minds want to know!
by Anonymous | reply 586 | January 7, 2019 3:51 AM |
Toxicology reports take weeks. I also think it was stimulants, or a combo of drugs. The guy wasn't famous enough for there to be a public interest in revealing private information about his death.
by Anonymous | reply 587 | January 7, 2019 3:55 AM |
R585 Exactly.
And from the original police press conference on "sensitivity."
"That was something that we recognized right away, because, you know, EVERYBODY KNOWS CHRIS. So we knew that this was gonna be something that was gonna be a VERY SENSITIVE MATTER," Glendale police Sgt. Dan Suttles said
