Adam Lambert wows Kennedy Honors crowd with emotional rendition of Cher's hit song "Believe" (1999)

Great version. Cher starts crying at end.

Surprised he went light on the guyliner.

by Anonymousreply 1December 27, 2018 10:47 PM

Who is the Asian woman crying behind Cher.

by Anonymousreply 2December 27, 2018 10:49 PM

Cher's "Believe" is the National Anthem for grown bottoms everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 3December 27, 2018 10:51 PM

I bet she was all "Why the FUCK couldn't they get a bigger name to honor me???" before he sang.

by Anonymousreply 4December 27, 2018 10:53 PM

Now, if they had gone with Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves, I would have been more impressed.

by Anonymousreply 5December 27, 2018 10:54 PM

I don't care what you jealous hags say, I really like Adam Lambert.

by Anonymousreply 6December 27, 2018 10:55 PM

I find his take very whiny. They could have gotten Adele to do the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 7December 27, 2018 10:55 PM

That was beautiful, thanks OP.

by Anonymousreply 8December 27, 2018 11:00 PM

Wow, that was great.

by Anonymousreply 9December 27, 2018 11:01 PM

Adam is great and so, so talented. I really wish he had a bigger career, but he's done better than most American Idol alums, and he's done much better than the busted O-face winner Kris Allen.

by Anonymousreply 10December 27, 2018 11:02 PM

The most impressive thing of all is that Cher still has functioning tear ducts.

by Anonymousreply 11December 27, 2018 11:16 PM

the song doesn't work with this arrangement and I find his singing smarmy and insincere. he's a phony.

by Anonymousreply 12December 27, 2018 11:22 PM

Cher usually sings it as a woman's victory march of woman over man.

Lambert sang it as a wounded gay man surviving love to live, and love, again.

Both are beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 13December 27, 2018 11:28 PM

Sting had a similar reaction during his KCH induction to Gaga’s astounding rendition of his “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You.”

by Anonymousreply 14December 27, 2018 11:31 PM

I agree with r12, this isn't a good song when sung as a ballad. I really did like his slow version of "If I Can't Have You" when he appeared on American Idol though.

by Anonymousreply 15December 27, 2018 11:33 PM

Ouch. Someone's getting fat...again.....but it was a nice take on Cher...

by Anonymousreply 16December 27, 2018 11:33 PM

He’s doing quite well, I hear. He’s been lead singer for some band called “Queen”. Hope they do well. He’s hot and I bang him hard.

by Anonymousreply 17December 27, 2018 11:35 PM

R10, Adam's recordings could be bigger but he has made A LOT of money touring with Queen.

by Anonymousreply 18December 27, 2018 11:38 PM

r14 Didn't take long for someone to somehow bring up Lady Fug and her "outstanding" rendition. And no one cares still. No one. As no one cares about Adam's.

Chair is looking good.

by Anonymousreply 19December 27, 2018 11:39 PM

He is awesome.

by Anonymousreply 20December 28, 2018 12:02 AM

there were a few others i enjoyed and thought deserved this, reba?? NO. that hamilton cast thing?? NO all in all a snooze..... and who was that dancing blond woman who got so much air time?

i was just glad they did CHER last but thought they could have done a much better tribute to her. Her sister was behind her.... where was chaz??

by Anonymousreply 21December 28, 2018 12:07 AM

I didn't like it either, supposed to be up-tempo, not ballad.

by Anonymousreply 22December 28, 2018 12:08 AM

Of all the major singers from the 80' s/90's Lauper is the only one who still looks like herself.

by Anonymousreply 23December 28, 2018 12:11 AM

It's okay. I like the original more.

by Anonymousreply 24December 28, 2018 12:12 AM

r23 Not really.

by Anonymousreply 25December 28, 2018 12:12 AM

R25, yes really.

by Anonymousreply 26December 28, 2018 12:14 AM

[QUOTE]Who is the Asian woman crying behind Cher.

Tina Lai, the wife of billionaire Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie.

by Anonymousreply 27December 28, 2018 12:16 AM

It was beautiful, heart felt and magnificent.

by Anonymousreply 28December 28, 2018 12:19 AM

I thought it was beautiful and tender.

by Anonymousreply 29December 28, 2018 12:22 AM

I've never been an Adam Lambert fan, but I really enjoyed that. It opened up the song in a way I wouldn't have otherwise imagined.

by Anonymousreply 30December 28, 2018 12:24 AM

I like his version better. And Cher looks goofy and horrible.

by Anonymousreply 31December 28, 2018 12:25 AM

Lambert was not doing a Cher cover, he was doing a Cher tribute.

Wel done!

by Anonymousreply 32December 28, 2018 12:25 AM

Not at all.

by Anonymousreply 33December 28, 2018 12:31 AM

Cher looks great. She shouldn't have messed with her lips, but otherwise fine. Body is rocking for 72.

by Anonymousreply 34December 28, 2018 12:34 AM

I was hoping to like it, but I prefer the original.

by Anonymousreply 35December 28, 2018 12:38 AM

Gay men hate “fat,” “bottom” Adam Lambert.

Those are the two worst insults they can say about another gay man.

by Anonymousreply 36December 28, 2018 12:39 AM

[quote]And no one cares still.

YOU certainly do.

by Anonymousreply 37December 28, 2018 12:46 AM

r37 No, it's just pathetic. They find a way to insert it is EVERY thread they can. They are as desperate as her.

by Anonymousreply 38December 28, 2018 12:47 AM

Yuck to Lamb and Gag. Both are baaaaad. Give me some Mr. Peter Cetera any time.

by Anonymousreply 39December 28, 2018 1:04 AM

Anthony Ramos was the hottest guy on the show.

by Anonymousreply 40December 28, 2018 1:07 AM

It must be embarassing when a singer doing a tribute can actually sing better than a person he's supposed to be honoring. And that misplaced implant in Cher's lower lip is distracting as hell. Can't she have that thing fixed? Other than that, she looks pretty good.

by Anonymousreply 41December 28, 2018 1:13 AM

r41 It isn't as if Reba has such a great voice, either. Or were you including her?

by Anonymousreply 42December 28, 2018 1:17 AM

R42 Don't know a single Reba song so I can't comment on that. But I did hear she was amazing in "Annie Get Your Gun" on Broadway - I can't imagine Cher doing a live show 8 times a week (even when she was in her prime).

by Anonymousreply 43December 28, 2018 1:19 AM

Yea but Reba has that kind of voice where she doesn't really have range and sings in the same tone so it isn't hard to sing 8 live shows a week.

by Anonymousreply 44December 28, 2018 1:29 AM

I don't particularly care for the song or Lambert, but that was a very warm and beautiful tribute to Cher.

by Anonymousreply 45December 28, 2018 1:30 AM

That song is pure trash and people are doing the most with this performance.

by Anonymousreply 46December 28, 2018 1:38 AM

Anyone else notice the HUGE stretch marks on his neck. Any ideas?

by Anonymousreply 47December 28, 2018 1:38 AM

Poor Cher. They could only find D-list celebrities to honor her.

by Anonymousreply 48December 28, 2018 1:39 AM

R36 No, frau. Gay tops love bottoms. Go back to trollilng your limited tidbits gleaned from “People” magazine elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 49December 28, 2018 1:45 AM

r47 a lot of singers have those neck wrinkles from singing so much.

by Anonymousreply 50December 28, 2018 2:16 AM

r44....youre high. Reba was superb in AGYG and sang the shit out of the score.......also, Reba has been around a LONG time and has been extremely successful at everything shes done.

by Anonymousreply 51December 28, 2018 2:35 AM

Little Big Town is hardly D list, and Cyndi isn't either and Cher's friend.

Adam was a nice nod to her gay fans.

BTW, Cher can't fix the lower lip or it would have been already.

by Anonymousreply 52December 28, 2018 2:37 AM

She could guest star on Botched.

by Anonymousreply 53December 28, 2018 2:39 AM

Umm...Cher did appear live 8 times a week on Broadway in the 80s when she stunned in Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean. Get your Cher facts right please.

by Anonymousreply 54December 28, 2018 2:39 AM

Some bottom all up in her feelings must have written the title.

"This Beautiful Rendition Of Cher's "Believe" Is Adam Lambert's Gift To Us All"

by Anonymousreply 58December 28, 2018 3:11 AM

Who watches all this shit? I am so over the type of singing singers do now. It is all over the top vocal gymnastics. Not saying Adam's was like that but almost no one makes me feel anything when they sing. Everyone trying to show off. It is the equivalent of chewing the scenery.

Er, KCH...

by Anonymousreply 75December 28, 2018 8:20 AM

The tribute to Cher was the best of the night. How could it not be? But it could have been better. It was good, maybe even great, but there was something missing.

by Anonymousreply 79December 28, 2018 9:55 AM

The Reba bashing here is because she's a Republican. Every queer here knows she is a superstar in the country world whether you like her or not. Lambert was a theater queen. He was doing "Wicked" when he auditioned for AI. He is now in a gloried cover band but making the bucks. He should star in "The Greatest Showman" when it comes to Broadway.

He has just . . . never done a thing for me, in any way. I gloss over any mention.

But I liked this. Thanks for sharing, OP, and reminding me to revisit evaluations every once in a while.

Who's the blonde woman shown singing in the audience at 1:55? She looks super familiar.

by Anonymousreply 87December 28, 2018 6:10 PM

Did Cher's two children attend? This was a big honour, no? Shouldn't her children have been there?

by Anonymousreply 88December 28, 2018 7:43 PM

Her son hates her and she was so homophobic to her daughter that Chastity is now Chaz. What do you think r88?

by Anonymousreply 89December 28, 2018 7:46 PM

I dunno. It seemed strained to me. I much preferred his slow version of "Tracks of My Tears."

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 90December 28, 2018 7:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 91December 28, 2018 7:56 PM

It was a great rendition, but I'm sorry, at no time did Cher cry. Nary a tear was shed from her cold dead eyes.

by Anonymousreply 92December 28, 2018 8:04 PM

I saw her wipe them^^^^. But her expression didn't change. She looked like a fish that was slightly stunned. Throughout the entire show.

by Anonymousreply 93December 28, 2018 8:07 PM

Of course his version is better, it's performed by someone with legitimate vocal talent. Cher's such a hack she lipsynched the song on Divas Live.

by Anonymousreply 94December 28, 2018 8:09 PM

R41, Actually, I don't think Cher had a lip implant. My guess is that she instead had fat grafting to the lips in the early 90s and over the years, there's been an accumulation of adipose tissue in the mentolabial sulcus area. It would prolly be too risky to mess with at this point.

by Anonymousreply 95December 28, 2018 8:18 PM

Here is a bootleg (so low sound quality) of the ballad version of Believe from the Cher Show which has been replaced with a different version from what I gather.

Block's Cher is interesting. I kind of hope they go ahead and put this on the cast album.

by Anonymousreply 101December 29, 2018 3:35 AM

I love Adam. But as someone who is emotional sometimes to the point of sentimental, I have to wonder if Cher was recalling lost loves and youth, whence the tears.

Cher's version of "Believe" is accusatory; Adam's is wistful. The world has room for both.

by Anonymousreply 102December 29, 2018 2:23 PM

Cher's frozen face is freaky.

by Anonymousreply 103December 29, 2018 2:43 PM

Why would Cher's son hate her? He's never worked a day in his life and Cher has supported him very nicely. She bought him a gorgeous house in LA that cost several million.

r106, it could definitely be done with a country flavor. I'd like to hear Reba sing it.

by Anonymousreply 107December 29, 2018 3:24 PM

Adam is great, but the best Queen/Mercury tribute that I’ve ever seen was from the rock band Extreme. Lead singer Gary Cherone is a huge Queen fan, and he would have been a great replacement. This medley from the Mercury Tribute concert in 1992 would have made Freddie proud.

When the narrator sings "I really dont think you're strong enough, no" - is the narrator singing to the narrator or is the narrator singing to the narrator's ex-lover?

by Anonymousreply 110December 29, 2018 6:03 PM

R110, I think the narrator is singing to the narrator.

by Anonymousreply 111December 29, 2018 6:53 PM

THANK YOU R78! I'd forgotten about that song and I love it.

I said something about Reba's being a Republican on another thread and people took my head off. They claimed she is and always has been a Democrat.

Man, Celine Dion needs a facelift STAT. She'd look so much better with some very minimal surgical help. She's gotten really jowly.

by Anonymousreply 112December 29, 2018 10:16 PM

R87 Melissa Peterman she was there for Reba, as her breakout role was as Barbra Jean on the sitcom Reba, she also was on the sitcom Baby Daddy.

by Anonymousreply 123January 6, 2019 5:53 AM

Lambert's version he's crushed and trying to convince himself that the other one will be lonely. It had nothing of Cher's triumphalism but was sad artistic but not terribly appropriate for the circumstance.

by Anonymousreply 124January 6, 2019 5:55 AM
