Why don’t they make gay themed comedy movies with happy ending anymore?
If a remake of this movie is announced, hypothetically, who would be perfect to play the 3 drag queens?

If they remade it, what actress would be in the title?
Is Julie Newmar really famous for anything besides playing Catwoman?
Maybe an actress of the same level from a cult TV series? How about the title being To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Eliza Dushku?

I really hated "To Wong Foo..." I find Douglas Carter Beane's writing pretty scary. It's like he was the one gay writer for "The Lawrence Welk Show", that's how "with it" he is! To me nothing about the movie works at ALL, especially the fact that the three leads are supposed to be drag queens, yet are actually transvestites, parading around in women's clothes 24 hours a day! That's how you can tell it is a sloppy mess put together by straights for straights....mostly.
Happily today the SJW types would shut this film down before one frame was shot because not ONE of the leads is an out proud gay guy or even better, all three aren't TRANS, and we KNOW that "trans women of COLOR are solely responsible for Stonewall!!!!

I was six when it came out and my mom loved it and ended up getting the VHS of it. We would see it together fairly often and it is still one of our movies.

I think they need really butch actors to play the drag queens so Russell Tovey must be a shoo-in.

Instead of Latino and black drag queens, they should have asian and black/Latino this time:
1/ Ezra Miller or Darren Criss or Tom Holland would be perfect as Chi-Chi
2/ Chris Pine or Ryan Reynolds as Vida

Julie Newmar was also Stupifyin' Jones in "Lil' Abner".

This movie sucks. It has to be a “white” drag queen that saves the town from the boredom. Im sick and tired of gay or straight movies that promote white privilege

SHRIEK! SHRIEEEEEEEEEEEK!

They could have chosen more feminine and skinny men for those roles except for Chi Chi. He was perfect for the role. The other two look like wrestlers

Remake it with drag kings.

R8 Well it was a largely white town that was "saved" in the film so are you saying a white drag queen doesn't/can't know how to save her own people?
That sounds a little racist to me.

Only whites, straight or gay, are able to save the world or lead a pack in Hollywood movies. You cunts, blacks, asians, latinos, natives do not have what it takes. Deals with it, 2nd class citizens.

My main beef about it is that there are NO LAUGHS! It has exhausting zaniness, but no wit, charm, or actual humor!
r2 is watching "Pretty Woman" for the 700th time, while calling people "bitter".

Never did care for this movie - considered it a really bad imitation of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert... That movie, I loved.

I loved To Wong Foo. Priscilla was a bore to me.

There was actually a lot of sweetness in the movie, and some nice moments: Stockard overcoming a thankless role and then some, the 3 hetero queens actually getting into character, etc. Plus Blythe Danner! And some great supporting players.
But this could never be made today, with so much caution around gender identity issue, etc.
