Wasn't she throwing Oprah's name around awhile back saying she had Oprah to protect her?
Sounds like the writing is on the wall for her and she knows it? So she's throwing a tantrum early.

Poor overworked underpaid Gayle, having TO KEEP IT ALL TOGETHER bravely.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 17, 2018 8:23 PM |
Of the three network morning shows the one on CBS is ranked dead last, with ABC being first and NBC being second and it has been that way for quite a while.
Gayle isn't stupid, shows in last place make changes and she is the most unlikely one to be there with her not having that much of a news background. I like Gayle but she probably sees the writing on the wall and wants to make it look like it is her choice if she gets booted.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 17, 2018 8:28 PM |
Do you think they would replace all three of them? John Dickerson and Norah O'Donnell? I can remember when Norah was everybody's darling. She married a chef in Wash DC. I never heard if that worked out?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 17, 2018 8:30 PM |
she like Okrah is a shill and has way more money than she should - she'd be better off helping educate kids in a poor area of the country

I like Gayle. I don't watch morning shows but if I catch her doing some interview I enjoy her.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 17, 2018 8:48 PM |
I don't quite understand what she is so furious about. That they fired the former producer at the same time as Moonves? She is furious on his part?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 17, 2018 8:49 PM |
I think her people are floating this story hoping CBS will offer her raise if she stays.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 17, 2018 8:52 PM |
I recently watched her on the CBS This Morning for the first time recently, and she was horrible. She comes across as dopey and way out of her league.
Hoda on the Today Show isn't much better. She's more competent than Gayle, but she's too intense and has a fake smile that makes it look like she's about to snap and kill everybody.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 17, 2018 8:53 PM |
Her, I intrinsically do not like. I love Harry Smith he's a journalistic rock star. What a nice, competent man just my opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 17, 2018 9:06 PM |
Oprah will give me my own show on her network if I lick her labia.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 17, 2018 9:12 PM |
They should have her on CNN.

Gayle needs a cooking / lifestyle show.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 17, 2018 9:23 PM |

Gayle isn't a journalist.

by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 17, 2018 10:07 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 17, 2018 10:12 PM |
It's a shame; CBS is the only morning show I can actually stand to watch. The others are waaaaay too "cutesy."
Plus that new Russian girl is pretty easy on the eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 17, 2018 10:14 PM |
I've heard when the network wants her to work she'll toss the 'I'm going to be traveling with Oprah' card and she gets her way.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 17, 2018 10:17 PM |
I think it's Alex Wagner who lost her show on MSNBC and married the hot chef. He was the Obama's personal chef at the White House and left to open a restaurant. They had a kid last year. I like her more than I used to because of The Circus. She curses and is able to be more honest in her assessment of the assholes in Washington. She didn't stay long at CBS. She was the weekend co-host on CBS This Morning, Saturday but was too goofy vanilla for me.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 17, 2018 10:26 PM |
R21 I agree. It seems to be the only show that's still doing actual news segments. All of the other ones seem to focus more on mommyhood/parenting and topics you'd find in magazines.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 17, 2018 10:33 PM |
[quote]Gayle isn't stupid, shows in last place make changes and she is the most unlikely one to be there with her not having that much of a news background.
Half right. She isn't stupid. However, she's been doing the news as a reporter and/or anchor since the late 70s.
And whether people like it or not she's still the biggest name on that show.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 17, 2018 10:33 PM |
It would be a shame. I love her interviews. She's quite good
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 17, 2018 10:47 PM |
R4 You could say that exact same thing about most white men. They have way more $$$ than they should. And the way they obtained it is most likely underhanded and nefarious, as well as unethical and immoral.
R18 you could say that about most white people working in media and entertainment today. Nepotism is alive and well in white America. Especially when it comes to getting high profile high paying jobs in the public eye.
Most of the people who occupy those jobs, don't have the talent nor the skill set to properly execute the position their in. But benefit greatly for being the right skin color and having the right parents/connections etc.
Just thought I'd put that out there for you!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 17, 2018 11:07 PM |
Gayle probably has an eye on a new job, maybe her own talk show or something similar where she’s the star and not one of three.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 17, 2018 11:18 PM |
Why are folks writing that Gayle has no experience. She was a news anchor for 20 or so years.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 17, 2018 11:24 PM |
She was a local anchor so most people only know her because of her friendship with Oprah.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 17, 2018 11:29 PM |
I don't know her either. She just shows up on set and the producer doesn't make her leave.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 17, 2018 11:32 PM |
Because they're assholes, r29.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 17, 2018 11:33 PM |
Yeah Gayle didn’t get her plum network gig based on her experience. She got the job after being made famous as Oprah’s Friend.
Even Gayle knows that.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 18, 2018 12:01 AM |
So what? Jenna Bush got her job because of her daddy and granddaddy. Chelsea Clinton also got her NBC gig through nepotism. The list is endless!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 18, 2018 12:04 AM |
QUIT, bitch. Do you think people watching morning telly really give a cold shit about you personally? They don't. You're background noise and anyone can be background noise.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 18, 2018 12:11 AM |
Throughout the 1980s and 90s Gayle King was the most popular news anchor in Connecticut on WFSB, the CBS affiliate. In CT Oprah Winfrey was first known as Gayle King's best friend, Gayle had been on the news here for years before Oprah got her talk show. When Gayle left WFSB and CT, it was like a day of mourning in the state.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 18, 2018 12:16 AM |
She’s not really attractive enough for morning TV. She would be better suited at a radio job.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 18, 2018 12:18 AM |
I can't imagine anyone really cares whether this person is on morning tv or not.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 18, 2018 12:19 AM |
I worked at a CBS affiliate and every single day we played "Deary Me, What Will Gayle Be Wearing Today?". There were extra points if you guessed it would be her yellow frock, and you were correct. Extra, EXTRA if it was the Big Bird-esque selection.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 18, 2018 12:55 AM |
She's the worst thing about the show. Sometimes she will ask a guest such stupid questions I have to roll my eyes and wonder what the fuck she's doing there.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 18, 2018 1:14 AM |
O'Donnell lives in Washington, D.C. and New York City's Upper West Side neighborhood with her husband,[9] restaurateur Geoff Tracy (owner of D.C. restaurant Chef Geoff's), whom she married in June 2001.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 18, 2018 1:18 AM |
The show was very good with Charlie, Norah and Gayle. They each brought something to the table, and their chemistry was great. Seemed real and not overly perky. The news was news, and not just celebrity bs.
But the show fell off a cliff without Charlie Rose. Dickerson is milquetoast and way too corporate-friendly, and the program seems to be actively discouraging male viewers from watching. I get that their demo may skew female but this show has nearly turned into The View. Too many women talking over each other. I lost a lot of respect when Norah threw a hissy fit when John McEnroe dared to say one of the Williams sisterswasn’t the best tennis player ever.
And the newsy edge is all but gone. It’s just another super corporate, celebrity fawning, bullshit spooning, political correct shit show. Just like Today and GMA.
Gayle should leave. They do need new blood, especially regarding their second stringers. Vlad? Yuck!
R21, I can’t stand her or most of the extras. And when is she going away anyhow?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 18, 2018 1:28 AM |
I'm not usually surprised by celebrity bad behavior, but even I was taken aback by the revelations of what a gross, disgusting pig Charlie Rose is. I never would've guessed.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 18, 2018 1:30 AM |
[quote]I love Harry Smith he's a journalistic rock star.
Have you watched the show lately?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 18, 2018 1:39 AM |
The biggest mistake CBS made was not putting Jeff Glor on when Charlie was fired. I’m not exactly sure of the timing maybe he was already on the evening news at that point. I remember reading something that Charlie Rose did not like Glor subbing for him when we was out. He was very threatened by him. Glor has great chemistry with Gayle and Norah and his personality is much better suited for morning TV than the evening news. CBS needs to get rid of Dickerson and move Glor over to CBS This Morning. I’m not sure what they can do about the evening news? Maybe an outside the box high profile female? I can’t think of anyone at the moment. Any ideas?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | December 18, 2018 2:18 AM |
i enjoy this show but the chemistry if off without rose. i could never stand the perky over jocular, too loud 'good morning america.

R46 I like CBS this morning too. It's more mature and more news based. Today and GMA is way to loud, animated, there's way to much going on in the background. And its just overall to damn busy for me. Especially early in the morning.
CBS this morning is more calm, very intimate and I really like the set they film on. And you don't have a bunch of assholes in the background trying to get on tv.
CBS this morning is the best in my opinion.

r52
i dont want to hear a bunch of braying jackasses laugh too loudly at stupid jokes, the other newscasts irritate me. its way too early in the morning for that stupidity!
,this show makes an effort to reports news.
rose and king would flirt and it would be awkward to watch, but theyre grown folks and long term friends, i didnt read much into their banter.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 18, 2018 6:25 AM |
R45 I believe that it was Josh Elliot to whom you are referring, regarding Rose's reported jealousy.
Elliot left ESPN for Good Morning America, where he quickly rose through the ranks. After much on-set friction, Elliot left for NBC, then quickly went to CBS, where he was climbing the ladder again. The technicality given for Elliot's CBS firing was that he announced his new CBS position prematurely, but it's more likely that CBS, or someone at CBS, was looking for a reason to get rid of him.
[quote]I miss Benita Mair (so?) and Charlie Rose
You mean Vinita Nair. She was fantastic. I don't know why they got rid of her. CBS This Morning Saturday traded her about a year ago for Alex Wagner, who is now also gone.
Dickerson should have stayed at Face the Nation, where he was very good. CBS This Morning Saturday's Anthony Mason would have been a great replacement for Charlie Rose, but they were probably seeking to put a younger face at the table.
They now suddenly have 4 people at the M-F table, so it looks like they're moving to the chatterbox formula that currently predominates morning news, unless the fourth addition will eventually replace one of the other three.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 18, 2018 8:56 AM |
Thank you, R54. She was fantastic.
I don’t think Mason would be good, but Dickerson was perfect for Face the Nation.
We used to watch every morning and have breakfast at 7. Now we’ll watch it while we’re eating but just because it’s the best of the worst.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 18, 2018 1:36 PM |
Norah looked stressed this morning. Tired and stressed. King looked grumpy.

by Anonymous | reply 57 | December 18, 2018 7:52 PM |
Bye Gayle, don't let the door hit you on the way out. You are the weakest link.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 18, 2018 8:10 PM |
I think they should created a 7-12 Eastern morning news bulletin on CBSN, and then simulcast the 2 hours (7-9) across each time zone on the CBS TV Network. When it ends at Noon in New York, it'll be 9 in California. DONE! And the content will be news, weather, business, sports, and some arts coverage. Simple is better.
