Let's talk dogs or other pets

I'll start. i have a Poodle Bichon mix that I got from a local rescue about 6.5 years ago. He's the best and has such a personality! We are currently snuggling while listening to the rain. He doesn't immediately like people in general though and he has trust issues that he came with. Once trust is established, he's a love bug.

I have a cat, who is 14 months old. Her mother turned up on the doorstep of a family. She was heavily pregnant and very skinny. My cat was the runt and the last to find a home. She comes over and sits on my lap, and after a minute of patting she walks away, purring the entire time. If I pat her, again she walks away after a minute, still heavily purring. I find it perplexing, and have tried patting different spots, different pressure, but she always leaves. She follows me around, and often starts purring if I look at her, or speak to her.

She is quite put upon by other cats. They turn up to start fights, so I have a super soaker by the door to chase them off. She keeps trying to get me to sit outside with her, but I often have things to do inside. I have no idea what her personality will be like as she gets older. I am very interested and curious.

I have a toy poodle who is like a little human. Love him to bits.

Facebook Four cats. All as quirky as snot. Love every one.

How quirky is snot, though?

I want a dog but what do you do when you travel? I don't know anyone who would stay with the dog. I can't have a cat because I am severely allergic to cats.

I lost my 14-year old Boxer at the end of November. I still miss him terribly.

I have a cat named Kitty Carlisle. Her favorite thing to do is sliding some the stairs head first. She does it to be cute.

My husband and I got a dachshund earlier this year, and although I grew up with a dog, I was completely unprepared for the amount of joy that she has brought into our lives. (Despite all the chewing, the bleeding when in heat, the dog shit I have to pick up in the yard, and the black hairs I keep finding on all my clean clothes.)

Lazy weekend mornings when she is allowed into the bedroom and nuzzles under the sheets with us is now my favourite time of the week.

I gave a German Shorthaired Pointer. Six years old and energy like a 1 year old. Soooooooo loving. Not a mean bone in his body. Our our last GSP lived to be 17. Our vet says he can live to be 16-20. Something about the breed.

Best dogs ever.

by Anonymousreply 11December 17, 2018 12:37 PM

R7 really sorry. Have you considered another dog?

by Anonymousreply 12December 17, 2018 5:34 PM

R7 will get another dog, I'm sure. Even if we don't intend to open our hearts again, there's always a sweet little puppy or kitten or fledgling who needs a home.

Here are mine, they both started life as stray alley-cat kittens. They've grown up to be sweet, purry, well-behaved house cats, with the collective IQ of a rock. Which is a plus, believe me! Dumbasses make the best pets, clever animals need entertainment and will take your house apart if they feel a little bored with life, but the dim bulbs will be content with the life of a spoiled pet.
