That Lizabeth Scott movie is on TCM now

The one where they’re driving along a road and someone throws hot money in their car.

I get a weird vibe from Lizabeth Scott. Was she an alky or something in real life? She seems fragile.

She seems dykey.

Has two titles. One is "Too Late for Tears." The other is something like "Killer Bait." She's great. One of her best is "Pitfall," with Powell and Burr and Jane Wyatt just a few years before Father.

R2, the weird vibe you're picking up is that Lizabeth Scott was a closeted lesbian. That's not just DL gossip; even the obituaries in respectable newspapers made reference to it, because it ended her career. She was known to frequent seedy dyke bars in L.A., as well as the infamous lesbian nightclub Chez Frede in Paris, and to hire female prostitutes.

From the book [italic]Confidential Confidential: The Inside Story of Hollywood's Notorious Scandal Magazine[/italic]:

[quote]Scott was a “strange girl, even for Hollywood,” Confidential wrote. “She never married, never even got close.” ...That alone would have been suspicious, Confidential said, but Scott raised speculation even further with an interview she gave to columnist Sidney Skolsky in which she confided that she wore male cologne, slept in men's pajamas, and hated frilly, feminine dresses.

A very under appreciated movie star in my opinion.

Also see her in "Desert Fury," one of those Technicolor noirs. She plays the daughter of business woman Mary Astor, but there's a dyke vibe between them. There's also a gay subtext between Hodiak and Corey, and a speech about how years earlier C picked up H in an automat. Then there's strutting Burt Lancaster. And a Miklos Rosza (sp?) score.
