Debbie ruined the career of the most talented of the bunch , Eddie Fisher. Debbie Reynolds also defended Bill Cosby knowing he was a rapist. Carrie was tied to Debbie, who dominated her throughout her life. Carrie was trapped by her mother, George Lucas and drug dealers. Carrie could also be a monster bitch like her mother because she was so controlled.
Carrie never had a chance in life because of Debbie, who had severe issues with other women and girls.
Debbie was not a lesbian. She was asexual and smelled like booze.
I am lucky to be alive.

Connie Stevens was infinately more talented than Debbie but was forced to take as back seat to that cabal. Ditto Carrie's sisters. Eddie Fisher was a good man with a bad drug problem, but Debbie spoke of him like he was the devil, even to strangers. Debbie was a devious one.
Debbie wounded Carrie's soul.

But Debbie had the juice to outshine and outcast better talents, being friends with that ASSHOLE Bill Cosby. Anything for fame as n fortune, right Debbie?
Poor Carrie. Always a high mess and the most miserable person I h save ever met. I loved her though. Still do.

It breaks my heart to see film or photos of Carrie in her 50s knowing how she destroyed herself with drugs. Her mother didn't give a shit.
Carrie was a crumpled up old woman, due to decades of drug abuse. Thanks a lot Debbie and Todd, you defended her heroin use as her 'choice.'
At least her sisters cared about her, a long with her daughter and Brian Lorde.
You didn't care Debbie!

I've never been interested in Debbie Reynolds, her career or life.
I don wonder why, if she was so hardcore lesbian in real life, why she spent the rest of her life trashing Eddie Fisher and tormenting the children with him? She couldn't have loved him THAT MUCH to be that hurt if she wasn't wired to heterosexuality.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 6, 2018 8:20 PM |
She was a great star in her time. And extremely dedicated to her work. I recall an interview in which Gene Kelly spoke about how he initially gave her a hard time but he came to realize she was very talented and a major studio asset

No it isn't R57. Reynolds was gay, or at the very least bisexual, so of course she dated gay men to both help them and help her own career.
William Mann said as much in his biography of Liz Taylor a few years ago:
"In cold hard truth, the marriage of Eddie and Debbie had been a masquerade from the start. Even their daughter Carrie would admit, "[Their] whole relationship was basically a press release." Their courtship had been arranged by MGM, concocted by a publicity department that saw magic between the two "All-Americans."
"Their domestic bliss was a well-orchestrated fiction. Privately, Eddie agreed that Debbie was indeed the girl next door -- "but only if you lived next door to a self-centered, totally driven, insecure, untruthful phony."
"Rumors about Debbie's sexuality had been floating around Hollywood for years, and Eddie wondered if they might be true. Many wondered about this Camille Williams "on whose slender shoulder Debbie Reynolds wept through the resonding smashup" of her marriage. Those reporters out front noted that when Debbie and Camille returned home from the movies, the lights in the house went dark -- "all except the light in Debbie's bedroom upstairs."
"There was one other "very close friend" of Debbie's, as Fisher call her. This was Jeanette Johnson, another old pal from Burbank who had served as Debbies's made of honor and frequent traveling companion, and "who had become the gym teacher Debbie once dreamed of being."
by Anonymous | reply 61 | November 6, 2018 10:26 PM |
I was never a Debbie Reynolds fan, except for her roles in "Mother" and "Will and Grace." I thought she was a riot in both. She always came across as showy and self-indulgent. But anyone who has seen the HBO special about she and Carrie can't deny that they reconciled and genuinely loved each other. I honestly think Carrie's death broke Debbie's heart and contributed to her death.

I think Carrie eventually accepted the fa t that her mother abused her and forgave her. Carrie 'got religion' two years before she passed. The public does not know that, but she was going to church and became a devout Christian. Carrie knew she was dying and found Jesus, no lie! In that way I way happy for her.
Carrie could not escape her mother so she gave up in a way.
Still. She hung in there for her daughter, the best way she could.

[R68] Abusive in what sense? I'm curious. I recently listened to Debbie reading her memoir UNSINKABLE and was very impressed with her memory for telling details - particularly in the long, long, loooong saga related to her Las Vegas casino/hotel. She could definitely spin a yarn. After getting entranced in lots of the minutiae of what she was reading, it struck me "why the hell would a successful actress/entertainer want to own a casino/hotel?" It's obvious Debbie knew little of the hotel business and not surprisingly lost a fortune - which she blamed on various husbands and crooked business partners. It's not like she started out washing dishes and worked her way up. I found it odd she was so driven to do this. Maybe she needed a challenge and outlet equal to her energies.

Her mother commandeered that ship of lies to the gullible public because she didn't want to Jeopardize the Hollywood mystique and her career.

Thank you for believing me. I knew these women my whole life. In ways you can't imagine.
Carrie was still 17 when she filmed Shampoo. Carrie had been sexualized as a teenager, in very bad ways by very bad people. I call that a victim, but in the 1970s that was commonplace and acceptable.
Carrie was abused by many adults around her, as I was. Her mother, and my father, were not good role models and ENCOURAGED the abuse. We/they all knew each other.
I hated her drug abuse and she hated my alcoholism however, we kept in touch in ways unknown to others.
Carrie and I never bad mouthed each other in print however, we fought like cats and dogs!
We could not resolve our conflicts which stemmed from our child sexual abuse.

Debbie just wanted to be loved. If she didn't get it from you every second of every day the way she wanted it, she'd hold the lapses against you for the rest of her life.
With that, Eddie walked out on her, and that made him the devil, naturally.
She and Carrie did work things out over time. As well as they could. And don't forget how Carrie helped build her career by exposing her mother. Debbie was cool with it, because she felt she was getting the love she needed. With respect for the Carrie "intimate" here, at least I never helped Carrie with her medication runs.

I don't believe in any way that Reynolds abused her daughter physically, but mentally? Perhaps not intentionally, but yes, she did. Just the pressure to be 'on' all the time (as Reynolds herself was), must have been unbearable, especially if she had no desire to be in show business.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | November 7, 2018 5:02 AM |
Who the hell is clutching pearls over Richard Burton possibly being gay? First of all, compulsive, near indiscriminate philanderers often are. It's a hallmark of Casanova syndrome. Second, I believed he admitted to homosexual experiences in school. While plenty of people are all, "It's a right of passage of British schoolboys - means nothing." I don't agree. I think the gay ones diddled each other and the non-gay ones did not, and the gay ones hid behind, "Oh, it was right of pasaage."

Well, everyone fawned over Joan Hackett in the bar. Both lesbians and gay men. She was very popular. Joan was a huge star in the gay community, but I wasn't sure why. Actually I still don't!
Anyhoo, Carrie spoke of her with great reverence, which she didn't hand out freely.
One night, when Joan wasn't there, I accidentally walked in on Carrie in the ladies room. This bar was a bit of a dive and the lock never worked on the toilet door.
I apologized profusely. Carrie then called me aside to the dance floor and then punched me repeatedly in the head. I fell to the ground and was dizzy for three days.
She gave me money for a cab but really, I needed to go to a hospital.

The next day at school my boyfriend asked me why I had bruises all over my face.
Imagine his surprise when I told him I was beaten up by Princess Leia in a gay bar!
In those days. Carrie acted ver violently with me. And then occasionally we would make out.
It was weird.

Carrie and I fought each other and then 'slept" with each other many times throughout the years. At some point it was too damaging to talk to her anymore, so I blocked her from my mind. She hurt me terribly.
Debbie Reynolds was the toughest one of all though. ALWAYS about her, and her career. No one's feelings mattered, including Carrie's. That's why Carrie released her anger at me. She joked to people that it was fun to slap a woman with big tits. Dysfunctional doesn't begin to describe those women.

I refused, because I was afraid Carrie would get beaten up in the Clark County jail.
There were numerous witnesses.

One night, at the gay bar, when I was a teenager, Carrie walks in with some mean faced short woman and they both screamed at me: "We Jewish girls stick together!!!" to which I replied, "Okay, that's nice" and went back to my beer. I later wondered what scenario these two were cooking up and it scared me.
About eight years later, at a lesbian bar, I ran into Carrie and told her that I just lost my job due to the company closing.
She then reached into her purse and pulled out $1600 dollars, handed it to me, and said "Will this help you?"
I was shocked and pleased, and thanked her for it.
Five minutes later she came over to me and demanded it back.
I gave it back.

R130 I'll leave that anonymous.
Menopause is a bitch when you've had a life full of meaning and mutual respect, but when you hit 50 and your secrets and regrets hit it can be unbearable.
Being used and abused, and then taking that pain out on others is not a fun memory. Add hormonal depression and it's why so many hit the drugs and booze in midlife.
I knew Carrie didn't have the coping skills to make it out of midlife.
Goodbye Carrie

Carrie once confided in me that Paul Simon was a wonderful lover. She really regretted that breakup. It almost killed her.

She idolized Paul Simon, in fact.

Two years before Carrie passed away she converted to Christianity and started going to mass. I dont know if she became a Catholic or not, but she attended mass with her daughter, who was a great influence on Carrie.
One time I overheard Carrie tell Penny Marshall that she had wanted to go to church that day. Penny Marshall replied, "Well, why didn't you tell me you wanted to go to mass, I would have gone with you!" Penny Marshall seems like a really good, rock solid person. Very likable. And she really does talk that way...I thought it was an affectation...LOL

After I had finished college I met Carrie at Barnes and Noble, where she invited me to have coffee with her. That tall bodyguard dude was always with her, and he always filmed our conversations. Her bodyguard sat across from me with his camera phone pointed at me while Carrie proceeded to tell me that she wanted me to go to AA meetings. I told I no longer drank, didnt need it, and was preparing for graduate school and would be too busy anyway. For some reason, that made her very angry.
AA did not help Carrie at all.

This one nut has been vomiting up supposed reminiscences about her days making out with and then being punched and/or slapped by Carrie Fisher on any thread that gives her the slightest reason to do so. The times of the reminiscences span decades. 35+ years of letting Carrie Fisher punch you whenever she takes it into her head to do so. Then kissing her. Then being slapped by her. Okay, yeah, seems reasonable. Sure.

Thank you to those who believe my remembrances of Carrie.
I've toned it all down for the sake of her family. And believe me, I have turned down some generous offers to do interviews.
Therefore, I'll just tell the really crazy, funny stuff and it's all true, by the way.
Carrie always mocked my religion, that is, before she converted herself.
Years ago I was into heavy drinking and gambling. It was your numb the pain of my memories. I long ago gave up those two bad habits.
I was playing blackjack in a casino one day and drinking greyhounds, my favorite casino drink.
Carrie and her mother came by. It was always weird how they would find me.
Debbie went up to the cocktail waitress, handed her some money, and told her to stop serving me!
Okay. No biggie. Coffee's fine.
As I got up to say goodbye to them Carrie slaps me really hard and tells me, "I thought you were out fighting demons...haha...."
They then walked away and out of the casino.

I told Carrie decades ago that she should move out of l.a. and go write no else in England. Hollywood was death for her...a long, slow and steady destruction.
She stayed here for her ex husband and daughter. Her mother was suffocating, demanding, possessive and needy.
She had close friends who loved her though.
Meryl Streep, who is a good person, as well as that blonde Sarah who babysat, and a few others.
Many, however, were just using her. People who take advantage of the mentally ill are awful.
I think Penny Marshall was good for her, especially in later years.
I was never Carrie's friend, although she says she wrote ice things about me in her books.
I certainly said nice things about her in that magazine interview.

For the sake of toning it down, Carrie's BFF is leaving out the story of how she was at a children's hospital doing volunteer work with damaged children of celebrities when Carrie showed up in the cancer ward with Lou Albino and Cyndi Lauper. Carrie said they were here to help and suddenly they triple teamed her in a steel cage match and pummeled her with foreign objects. After the head nurse counted her out following a chair to the head, Carrie said, "We did our good deed for the day that these brats will never forget." and they all sauntered out of the cancer ward leaving her a sobbing bloody wreck.
But...……….being the BFF that she is, the poster still loves Carrie.

Jolie also said Connie had a stroke a few years ago. She said Connie is doing just okay but made the trip to London with Jolie recently to see her perform her one woman show.

According to his biographer Hofler, some of Willson's former clients, including Robert Wagner, began to deny that they he had ever represented them. Chad Everett and Ty Hardin (whom I knew) were both uptight, straight forward All American Heteros. I never heard of Mike Connors nor Clint nor Doug being anything but straight except that I know Doug was open minded and would let the right guy blow him years ago if it would advance his career. I've heard things about Carmine aka John Saxon but that was years ago and I understand he gets very defensive over any such allegation.
Suzanne Pleshette who did have a few girl girl friends (Tina Sinatra, Angie Dickinson) realized within days into her marriage to Troy Donahue back in 1964 that she'd married a big child who wasn't mature enough at that point to commit to a marriage.

Clifton Webb and Barbara Stanwyck played a husband and wife in the 1953 movie "Titanic," which also featured a young Robert Wagner. (Ironically, he falls into the ocean while trying to help lower a lifeboat, but he gets pulled into the boat and is rescued, which is more than we can say for Natalie Wood years later.)
Webb called Stanwyck "my favorite Hollywood lesbian."

R196, I hadn’t thought of Joan Collins as lesbian, but here’s her vintage gossip:

Linked with, oh, just about everyone, including Warren Beatty, Harry Belafonte, Marlon Brando, Sydney (son of Charlie) Chaplin, Robert Evans, Dennis Hopper, Anthony Newley, Ryan O'Neal, Terence Stamp, and Robert Wagner.”
Quite a few bisexual men there. And Terence Stamp? I cross-referenced him, and he was linked to (beautiful!) lesbian/bi women - Candice Bergen, Julie Christie, Jacqueline Bissett.
Interesting!!

WHERE do all of you with absolutely no connection to Hollywood, old or new, get all this mis-information?
I thought DL was filled with the power elite, the socially-connected, the prominent, the capable A-List, not people standing in supermarket lines reading tabloids. Please source information.
As well, isn't it about time we admit Carrie was responsible or her own undoing? Do not canonize a druggie. "It isn't their fault" is horseshit.
DL has turned into a wannabe ZataLounge, and that is the lowest of the low, six people posting over and over.

In interviews, she seemed to blame her troubles (e.g., financial problems) on husband(s). Although she was cute and funny, she didn't seem to take any responsibility for her choices in men -- things just "happened" to her. My gaydar did not ping on her, but maybe she was a lesbian and didn't really care if her dates were gay men. Carrie Fisher was married to a gay man, so maybe CF was a lesbian as well.
by Anonymous | reply 249 | November 16, 2018 7:20 PM |
[R249] Agreed. Although it's easy to get swept up in Debbie's surface charm, it seems that she was very fantasy driven, which is unsurprising for a Hollywood actress. The people we choose to be in intimate relationships with is profoundly reflective of who we are. For Debbie (and possibly Carrie), acting "happy" seemed to equate to perceiving oneself as actually being happy - as if she couldn't tell the difference. This is a hallmark of narcissism. Once Debbie could no longer keep the illusion of her happy marriages going, reality set in and the fraud of it all exerted itself with a vengeance. If she were truly close and connected to her husbands she'd have known the score a lot more than she claims to have.

Um, Carrie dated women. Everyone around her knew that. Her affairs with women was during her 'party' years, so they were mostly fleeting affairs with bisexual actresses. Or not.
Debbie interfered with Carrie's relationships which was ironic, considering that Debbie was asexual. Debbie's women friends were giant bitches. Not all, but many. They were rich old women who lived off of men. Ugh.
Elizabeth Taylor was a warm, loving soul who was too good to be dragged into that stupid p.r. with Eddie Fisher and Debbie.
I lurved Elizabeth Taylor. One time, Debbie slapped me really hard. It was a mean, stiff armed slap. Elizabeth Taylor chastised her for it.

I looked around the room. Carrie was seated behind Debbie, sneering. Elizabeth Taylor was gobsmacked...eyes wide open with mouth ajar..Rip Taylor was in shock....

Debbie never had an affair with Robert Wagner, they dated. She said in her book he was the love of her life but he was a Playboy. He grew up in Beverly Hills and wanted for nothing driving around town in a convertible sports car. She states in her book they broke up because she would not sleep with him until marriage and he bolted. And as stated, her mother wasn't a stage mother, wasn't interested in her show biz career. She was just a nasty unhappy woman who made others miserable.

No. She was big enough a star - just a simple fact. She consistently appeared in films with other big names. The Liz/Eddie/Debbie thing did as much for her publicity wise as it did for Liz. Her "Tammy" films were huge as was the corresponding number one hit "Tammy." Lots of baby girls were given that name because of the song/film. She was big enough for certain.

Lots of great actors never win awards - especially character actors. Judy Parfitt, for example, is one of my favorite actors and she's certainly not mainstream. Even so, many people recognize her with an appreciation for her work. You may know her as the character Vera Donovan in "Delores Claibourne." Unless the performances are undeniably stellar, awards are often just given as popularity contests.

An Oscar is not an entitlement. I don't understand why so many younins think so.
Debbie was not a "great star," but she was a greatly popular one with longevity, as has been mentioned. Besides Tammy as R288 said, the name Debbie was very popular for girls my age, born in the late 1950s. Not Deborah, Debbie.

Debbie passed her anorexia down to Carrie. Not ever eating drove those women nutso. Malnutrition gave Carrie arthritis, and was the cause of Debbie's baldness.

It probably contributed to her dementia. She became demented by 2005.
Debbie stalked me in the Trader Joe's and got behind me line. She begged me to contact Carrie.

Didn’t Carrie lose her mind over Harrison Ford? She talked about him like a lovesick puppy for decades and then felt compelled to tell everyone on the planet that they were a “thing” the whole time Star Wars and etc were filming. You can tell! Every photo taken, even candid ones, she was beaming up at him as if he really was Han Solo.
Debbie Reynolds kept a lackluster career going on the sympathy of people who felt bad for her spurned self. The betrayed homemaker was her brand until her brand switched to Princess Leia’s mother and then to resigned but compassionate mother of bipolar. Finally, she just became the character from Unsinkable Molly Brown and laughed like a big ol’ trucker from gig to gig.
I thought Carrie was weird with her yelling at George Lucas at some honor thing—she was all duck lips and drunken pronouncements (funny but disturbing to watch). I thought she was weird on her show when she talked about how adorable she was when she auditioned for Star Wars. I thought she was weird with her service dog Gary’s blog.
They just screamed for attention, the both of them.

R305, Back in 1991 Carrie called me and talked about Harrison Ford. It was jokey, irreverent remarks made about him. I didnt think she regarded their affair as all that serious.
It was Paul Simon she never got over, in my opinion. She cried over him, for years afterward. She liked George Lucas and considered him a friend. Debbie used Carrie, like many other women did. Carrie told me that she knew all of her girlfriends, with a few exceptions, were using her to get money or acting jobs.
I was NOT a friend of Carrie's, although I knew her for decades and and had close Physical contact. I did not use drugs, ever.
She did know some nice e women, however.

By 2012, Carrie's eyes changed into what I call 'heroin eyes.' They looked completely black, and had a watery film over them. I saw her in Trader Joe's where she seemed friendly, but stoned. I was horrified by Carrie's drug use, always.
Again, her mother begged me to "write her on the internet," and said, "after all, she wrote nice things about you in her books."
But I had a long and painful history with Carrie that I did not want to resume. And I certainly didnt want to deal with 'heroin Carrie " who could be a most fearsome and destructive entity.
I explained to Debbie that I had nothing to offer a heroin addict, as I would be waiting her time, but there were many others who had that expertise.

Once she was in her Cooper with a younger woman and I heard Carrie yelling about committing suicide soon. As they drove by me the young woman had a shocked and pained expression on her face.

Carrie never really recovered from Liz Taylor's death. Liz had become for her a kind of idealized second mother whose exploits Carrie would read about, but also hear of directly from Liz. So there was this dichotomous reality. Also, Carrie both was grateful to AND resented Liz for "taking away" Eddie. Grateful, because Carrie was perceptive enough to know that had Eddie stayed, the rancor that already existed between him and Debbie would have turned caustic and spilled over to the kids.
Once Carrie and I were at my place, channel surfing, and we came across "Butterfield 8," in which Eddie costarred. She started her Carrie chuckle and when I asked her about it, she said that years after the movie was made, Liz told her about all the fucking that went on during filming. For example, just before the filming of that opening sequence, where Liz wakes up all rumpled, "the day after," she and Eddie had been hard at it in their dressing room. Liz also told her that any brains that Eddie had were in his "shvantz" (sp?). That struck me as a bit "inappropriate."
Carrie was a good sport, when the demons were sleeping. I miss her.

She announced with a look-at-me! flutter that she HAD to leave to go home to finish a puzzle that was pornographic.

[quote]The Loon quotient will reach high when the Joan Jett Loon starts posting that Debbie Reynolds sang well enough but couldn't match Joan Jett's basic sound. And Debbie never wrote her songs whereas Joan Jett wrote 60!
r63- How nice to see Joan Jett mentioned in a thread about Debbie Reynolds dating gays, LOL! Never saw that one coming. On a related note though, I wouldn't say Joan Jett is gay, much as I might like to, considering some of her obvious lyrics about bisexuality, such as "Switch-hitter, she does either. Always in control. She's a teaser."
"Switch-hitter" is code for bisexual.
So, to the "Joan Jett is 100% gay" clown, sorry, but nah.

I read The Princess Diarist. I was surprised that it was basically a book focused on Harrison Ford. I know CF was young when filming Star Wars, but it was a situational fling for HF (who was married, filming was in London--no wife around). I was surprised that CF expanded it into an entire book.

I was at Trader Joe's contemplating buying some Alaskan cod that seemed too under-priced to be real ($7.59 for 2 lbs.). I was a tad overweight then (for Hollywood) and wearing stretch pants but I was feeling good about myself after a session with my Viennese therapist. She helped me come to terms with and embrace my lesbianism.
Suddenly (a cliche) I noticed Carrie and Debbie. They were decked out in mother-daughter attire for one of their variety extravaganzas (matching polka-pot jumpers) and feeling familial and randy. They were buying nuts and junk food and giggling between themselves. I lowered my ballcap and sunglasses hoping to leave the store undetected.
As I finally settled on the cod - yes, I would buy it and make a low-cal meal based on a DeLaurentis YouTube video with sliced almonds - I felt a cold, hard hand pull down the back of my stretch pants and inset a finger up my sphincter as would my proctologist, Dr. Silverman (bless his heart). It was Debbie. Loaded out of her mind and wanting to take me to bed, as had happened in the past.
I slapped Debbie, Carrie slapped me, Debbie slapped Carrie and it wasn't long before store security arrived to throw us all out. I ended up having a hamburger with Dean Martin at Hamburger Habit.
Hollywood sucks.

I finally stopped going to Trader Joes because I, like many of you, was always running into Carrie and Debbie, drunk and haranguing the customers if they didn't shout out requests for show tunes.
I often shop without shoes and couldn't risk walking over shards from last bottle of "Two Buck Chuck" they'd viciously fought over.

About six years ago Shelly Duval and her mother got behind me at yes, you guessed it, Trader Joe's.
Shelly was sweet and friendly and remembered me from the 1980s and that I knew Carrie.
Shelly was with her mom, who is a very attractive and dignified looking lady. Both of them were very polite, and were happy to chat about Carrie, those AA meetings in West Hollywood and herwork in the Shining.
I told Shelly that her performance in the Shining was in the top three greatest performances in actress history and that it must feel great going to sleep each night knowing she had done something so legendary.
Shelly told me that Kubrick was really hard on her. I said I was sorry to hear that. She also said she wanted to come back to acting.
It was as if time never passed for us, and we had just stepped out of that Fairfax meeting and we were both young women again.
I wonder how she's doing?
Hi Shelly and her mom!

I was at Trader Joe’s looking for sanitary napkins when I rounded a corner and literally crashed into Debbie with an armful of adult diapers. She reeked of Schnapps. As I helped her pick up the diapers, we caught each other’s eyes and she growled in a slow, deliberate voice: “What do you think of my hair?” I said, “It looks fine, Miss Reynolds. Is it Korean?” She hauled off and slapped me so hard my Kotex went flying across the aisle. Then she told me my pussy stunk and stormed off.

Christmas always reminds me of the last time I saw Debbie.
She'd stabbed a box of claret with a Bic ballpoint and was guzzling what wasn't pumping onto the linoleum in regular gushes, as if from a severed artery.
As she twirled around, she kept yelling, her pleated skirt rising precipitously: "Joe's to the World! Joe's to the World!"
I couldn't tell if she was singing. If it wasn't singing, it was something like singing.
I'm a little slow (or maybe just too tired for Debbie that day) and looked at her quizzically.
Exasperated, she yelled: "Joe's to the World! JOE'S!!!" pointing at the "Joe's" in the store's name on a bar of apricot oatmeal soap.
She then slipped on the claret. I grabbed the bar of soap before it, like Debbie, hit the floor.

Well, there was that "I am a lesbian" concrete sculpture Debbie had in her backyard, but it was destroyed during the Northridge earthquake. Some lunatic broke into Debbies back yard during the commontion and took a sledgehammer to it. He destroyed all the lawn ornaments.

Carrie had a great figure in her thirties, in fact she was at her most beautiful layer in life. World class legs, sexy body. Gorgeous face. I saw her nude a few times. She was a sex goddess all right.
She had a small eaterie on Lake street in Pasadena, ca. She filmed us without my consent, however.
She hypnotized me and whoosh, there went my clothes!

by Anonymous | reply 370 | November 27, 2018 7:51 AM |
No, darling R370. Debbie threatened a lawsuit - that's what did it.
Carrie was never a "sex goddess" and never could be because she was 4'11" tall.
by Anonymous | reply 371 | November 27, 2018 4:06 PM |
R381, Carrie was about 5 foot three, maybe 5 foot 4 until she hit her forties.
Carrie's whole body shrunk immensely, including her face and skull, if you can believe that.
I know that malnutrition will shrink a person as they age (Carrie never ate well) but how someone's head could get smaller is a mystery to me.
Even her feet looked smaller.
I am starting to think that one of her dealers was giving her experimental drugs or some really vile and damaging substances. I've seen people (assholes) hand Carrie things and she would just pop them in her mouth without questioning what it was.
Her behavior in her final years was beyond bipolar.
by Anonymous | reply 372 | November 27, 2018 4:31 PM |
I know that Eddie Fisher was a douchebag, but Debbie sounds like she was a cunt of the highest order. I remember reading his autobiography and he said that Debbie loved to spend his money while she saved her own. I guess Harry Carl was karma for her. Wasn’t he the one who took her to the cleaners financially?

Debbie cried poverty while she drove around town in her luxurious white convertible.
I liked Eddie Fisher.
by Anonymous | reply 374 | November 27, 2018 4:54 PM |
I remember telling Carrie how beautiful she was, and that she should stop using drugs for fear of losing her looks.
Carrie was beautiful while at her worst drug abuse, therefore I think she thought she was getting away with it.
I got busy with my life and kind of forgot about Carrie, figuring she would be well finally.
Oddly, I started "running into her" in various shops in my new neighborhood.
Carrie changed so radically I did not know who she was until long into our conversation!
She would find me in a store, start talking, and have her assistant film our conversations. Very bizarre.
She started to slur her words and seemed highly medicated. She always talked LOUDLY about us having "sex in her car."
She told me she was doing ECT and I could see some damage occurring. She accused me of things I didnt do, and tried to embarrass me while being filmed by her assistant.
Carrie had become paranoid and sad.
Whomever supplied her all those drugs should take some responsibility for her terrifying demise.

I imagine income disparity was why she spent Eddie's money and saved her own. Couples make deals like that all the time. However when it comes time to move on the unwritten deal suddenly develops all kinds of ulterior motives.
by Anonymous | reply 385 | November 28, 2018 4:53 AM |
In his last few years, Eddie mellowed out a great deal. Sometimes when I was over at Carrie's place, he and I would reminisce (well mostly he would, since he had a lot more to reminisce about). We'd sit out by the pool as the sun set and the air cooled almost to a shiver and he'd muse about the "if onlies" in his life.
One thing he regretted was how he'd treated Debbie. "Fame and fortune really bedazzled me," he'd say. "Debbie got the short end of the stick with me. I shoulda kept my schwantz in my pants, but man, back then there was hot and cold running pussy in this town, and I was just a kid from Philly. Was I supposed to turn down that prime quim? A guy's only human!"
He was real proud of Carrie, though. "How did a mug like me ever produce such a brain," was his refrain. He just marveled at her, even as he recognized in her the same bouts of mania that tormented him. The "howling dogs" was what he called them. "Man, are those dogs howling tonight." I miss Eddie.

by Anonymous | reply 389 | November 28, 2018 6:34 AM |
The funny think is, Carrie had her own name for those bouts of mania. "The kleebers are visiting," she'd say. When I asked who the kleebers were, she said they were cousins to the blecks, but more refined. As for Eddie, toward the end she'd come a long way in accepting him for what he was-- both the good and the bad. Maybe they're somewhere shmoozing now.

Debbie Reynolds FBI File EXPOSED: Scandalous Lesbian Past!
Goody two-shoes Debbie Reynolds had a taste for lesbian love, newly released FBI documents reveal!
Working under specific orders from President Lyndon B. Johnson’s Oval Office,
G-men checked out the Singing in the Rain sweetheart and discovered both she and first hubby Eddie Fisher enjoyed same-sex romps.
According to newly declassified FBI files, a gay man told investigators,
“Fisher was a homosexual and his wife, Debbie Reynolds, was a person who engaged in both normal and homosexual relations.”
While the file contains “no more information” about Debbie and Eddie, other superstars caught in the probe
of Hollywood’s gay scene included Danny Kaye, Arthur Kennedy, director Vincente Minnelli, Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling and actress Shelley Winters!
Film historian Robert Osborne later claimed Debbie had a lesbian love affair with Bewitched star Agnes Moorehead.
Debbie vehemently denied sharing Agnes’ bed — but her son, Todd, reportedly confirmed the affair!
Meanwhile, Debbie’s daughter, Carrie Fisher, who also experimented with women, insisted:
“My mother is not a lesbian! She’s just a really, really bad heterosexual.”

R400, Aggie was chummy with Paul from their time together on "Bewitched," but I only met him a couple of times. Once was when Carrie and I were in a speaking-terms phase and attended a Christmas party at Aggie's palatial ranch. (She called it her 'raunch," with the kind of high-brow leer that only she could make.) That was some spread.
Anyway, Paul was there, in full-on queen mode. A hoot and a half. He did this elaborate imitation of Alice Ghostley imitating him, which was very Meta, before that was a thing, since Paul had based his own persona on HER. Then he and Aggie did an amazing improv in which they switched their "Bewitched" roles. This was just before "Glass Bottom Boat," in which Paul had that drag scene, and I'll bet he used some of the improv stuff for that movie. He was really looking forward to working on that, since he was besotted with Rod Taylor and kept talking at the party about how he planned to get himself "some of that juicy Aussie ass." I hope he succeeded!
