"The Lost Boys"
Let's discuss this deeply homoerotic 80's sort-of classic!
I hadn't seen it in years but they've been showing it on HBO, and it's still an enjoyable film, as who wouldn't want to use Dark Powers to seduce the young Jason Patric? And it captures the fun/seedy/creepy vibe of Santa Cruz, California, and the hilarity of eighties fashion. Too bad it had to spend so much time with the annoying little boys, it'd be an almost perfect film without them.

It's a good film but they never show it on TV, why? Is it too expensive?

Jason Patric was hot. What became of him? Haven't heard much about him since the 90s.

Sadly, Jason got fat and his face has crows feet.

One of the best vampire movies ever! Did Kiefer get plastic surgery after this? His forehead and teeth look different now. R4 I think Jason Patric hasn't done much since, maybe due to hair loss battle. He's acting but in small roles. What a face though.

Hey guys! I met my friend Corey Haim while filming this movie. What a great time we had. Have I ever mentioned that the Haimster was raped?

Jason Patric and Corey Haim had some major chemistry going on in that movie.
Like, some serious "brotherly love."

Corey was all over Jason, throughout the movie.

Jason and Corey were always filmed extremely close together throughout that movie. Like weirdly close.
All of the Corey blind items about him being molested on set, made me think more of Jason Patric, than of Charlie Sheen.
That was always my assessment.

Any other reasons to accuse man of being rapist, pedophile, child molester? Or couple of fucking gifs is enough for you?

I wonder what Haim's sexuality actually was, or if he even knew after the way he'd been used and traumatized.

It was on Netflix, maybe still is. I hated the stupid subplot about the girlfriend. I loved this movie.

A classic, thanks OP I need to re-watch it soon. And yes, very gay - especially Corey Haim's character.

There's a fantastic LB scene in the LifeTime Two Coreys biopic, where the swishiest Joel Schumacher shitcans Corey Feldman for showing up late to the set (and hires him back the next day). Corey Haim is just cackling at Feldman in the background over the whole thing, it's so satisfying.
Weirdly this is the only moment THE LOST BOYS is shown or referred to in the movie, despite the fact that this is the film where the Coreys first bonded and became friends. Had they not both shot it and spent so much time together in the process, they'd never have been an item so to speak.

IDK what movie R9 was watching. The real chemistry was W-Corey, obviously.
It was even plain to see in that egregious threequel. The only good scene in the two-hours of agony was the one they had together.

It looked like it'd be very commercial, but totally bombed instead. I saw it a nearly empty theater shortly after it debuted. It's and only ok at best, not a disaster but nothing special either.

R14 As far as anyone knows, IRL Haim didn’t ever hook up with guys for fun and didn’t openly date or fall for men either. Any of the questionable stories about him sleeping with men (reported here and elsewhere) are consistently transactional in nature. He had a string of serious girlfriends throughout his life, and was even engaged to two of them. Any sex drive he had as an adult was also very probably hobbled by rampant drug use.
He got repeatedly raped by men as a preteen and was coerced into keeping these crimes a secret, with the threat of ruin & poverty hanging over him if he did not comply. Haim lived with that terror all his short life and consequently threw himself into dangerous similar situations to escape his pain. It’s likely that Haim was conditioned to see gay sex as a traumatic & distasteful act, sadly - sex he was forced into as a way to get parts/make money or keep his abusers appeased. Even if deep down he was a gay or bisexual man, his natural nascent sexuality was brutally warped against his will.

One thing I liked about the movie was that head vampire David had originally planned for Star the girl vampire to kill the beautiful David... but he found himself so smitten that he gave David some blood to suck after an hour and welcomed him into the vampire club!
What I didn't like is that David ended up with the girl at the end. Other than that, it's one of the gayest movies of the eighties.

As a little kid I had the biggest comp-het crush on Jamison Newlander, who played Alan Frog (and later had that lead in the remake of THE BLOB). For every other preteen gal the desire object was Kief or Alex Winter or Billy Wirth....not I. It's weird he wasn't more popular with the teenie crowd, actually.
Then I forgot all about him and only rewatched LB years later in HS or College, and that time I couldn't stop looking at Jami Gertz. And there you have it.

It did not totally bomb, R21. It opened at #2 and made 4x its budget. Stop talking out of your ass.

Yeah, Santa Cruz is really like that, or was back when I lived in San Jose and coold visit frequently. No known vampires, of course, but there's a dark undervibe under the pretty beach houses and the crowded boardwalk, that makes it seem like there could be.
There were a couple of serial killers active there during the seventies, that's probably where the idea for the story came from.

Jami Gertz isn't much of an actress, but she was gorgeous.
Jason Patric helped pre-teen me figure out some stuff. He seemed to have gotten the best genes from both of his parents.

R32 I feel that, sort of. Jami Gertz helped babydyke me figure out some stuff.
Especially in CROSSROADS, that blues-themed road-movie with Joe Seneca & Ralph Macchio.
