Cracker Wars
What is your favorite type of cracker, for me it is Keebler® Town House® crackers, nothing beats them in my opinion but they are far from the top seller, so what is your favorite cracker?
No I am not doing a poll, there are way too many types of crackers.

I'm a cracker hoarder. I eat too many of the things and have 4 different varieties in the pantry right now. In high school I used to eat a sleeve of Zesta's when I got home from school for a snack. I preferred Zesta as they were saltier and flakier than other brands, such as Premium (Nabisco) or Krispy (Sunshine).

I have had an ongoing love affair with crackers for many years... though some friends chide me for eating them, I still prefer tuna salad, chicken salad, pâtés and any/all tinned fish on crackers. Carr's or Club are usually my choice to accompany the aforementioned. For cheese, I like a Triscuit or more substantial wheat cracker... McVitie's Wheat digestive biscuits are excellent with sharp cheddars. Aldi's Triscuit clone with Olive Oil & Rosemary are great on their own.

Pepperidge Farm Harvest Wheat- but too salty sometimes. No way do I believe the box, it’s like the salt distributor is on the fritz for some batches.
Carr’s WHOLE WHEAT table water are DIVOON. Slightly sweet with an odd thickness and crumbly texture. Hard to find.
Milton multi grain rounds are fab too. Not good if you dislike seeds(has poppy and sesame). Quite filling and larger than most.
I used to like Keebler club.
If you’re low carb it’s all about Parmesan crisps. You can even make your own. You bake flat little piles of grated Parmesan, and they melt and crisp up into light as air cracker thins.

Trader Joe's Savory Thins are my favorite specialty cracker. They are crisp, slightly shiny, very savory rice crackers that have a light sesame flavor. Amazon had the best picture. I couldn't find them on the TJ site, but they are in stores.
Kroger's 99-cent "Pssst" brand generic saltines are as good as Zesta, which was my family's cracker choice. Now and then, we'd have Keebler Club crackers in our cupboards.
My grandmother always used Premium brand crackers. Then, they came in a metal tin, not a cardboard box. They were a harder, sturdier cracker than Zesta. I'm not sure if they are still like that, though.

r99 Word!
Nabisco used to make a triangular cracker that had a lot of poppy seeds, I believe they were actually called 'Triangles.' Very tasty, and wonderfully overbaked. Discontinued for many years, alas.
I like the small oyster/soup crackers that Trader Joe's sells. You have to break them up before you add them to soup or chili, so they can firm things up a bit.

R133 Those are my least favourite too. (Good matzoh has more flavour) These certainly are not good on their own, but a nice foil to salty toppings such as Prosciutto, tapenade, salamis... This brand certainly has its loyalists. The cracked pepper variety is great with pâtés, and double-cream cheeses. The real star of the Carr's line-up IMHO is the wholemeal wheat in the red box. Quite versatile, buttery and slightly sweet like a digestive. Delighful texture on their own.

r133 "No flavor" is the point. If I buy those, it's because all I want to taste is the cheese. The cracker is there merely to add crunch.

I was on a reconnaissance mission this weekend for the illustrious Sociables. I'm not quite sure if they are popular in the Chicago metropolitan area, and that is what accounts for the scarcity, or they're not stocked because they don't move. I was visiting friends in the suburbs so I thought I would have better luck than in the city. Oddly enough, even though they appear online, TWO Wal-Marts did not have them. (they did have chicken in a biscuit, and vegetable crackers by Nabisco however). Thankfully my host had to shop, and at a SECOND grocer (Pete's Fresh Market) I finally scored and completed the mission. It WAS worth the hunt; they're quite good!
