The fact is, you can still look good in your 50s. The catch is, it takes lots of work & planning your maintenance routine around days when you *really* need to look good. When you're 20, you can wake up hung-over looking like shit & still be hot. When you're pushing 60, you can look kind of hot on Friday & Monday, good on Saturday & Tuesday, OK on Sunday & Wednesday, and be a hermit on Thursday.

R35, you can... but at 60, it's basically a full-time job that requires daily gym workouts, testosterone, botox (with actual surgery every decade or so), and rigorous twice-weeky dye jobs (Monday morning & Thursday evening) if no wig, or weekly professional wig-fix + dye-job if a wig is involved.

You can't dye with the wig on, because it'll just get darker & darker... but no dye job can conceal white roots for more than 2 days, which is a definite problem. The guys I know who deal with it take it off & reattach it themselves when doing dye touch-ups, but get it professionally re-attached every 2-3 weeks & time it to happen a day or two prior to major "gotta look my best" events. And/or, they live with their beard being a slightly different color & try to gracefully blend it as they move up the sideburns, and have their remaining head hair bleached & tinted back to dark blond to make the white roots less apparent. Shaving sounds like a way to avoid dye, but it actually makes it worse... there's no good way to dye stubble without staining skin, and gray roots are even MORE visible on short hair.

A 60 year old who works hard to look good will never convince anyone he's 30, but he can definitely pass for "early 40s" on his good days. A 70 year old who works at it can pass for early/mid-50s, as long as some health crisis doesn't force immediate re-prioritization (in which case, he'll appear to age 20-30 years practically overnight & probably go into mental shock because he himself hasn't seen himself looking like that in a mirror up to that point). Paparazzi *live* for those kinds of "gotcha!" transformations, sadly.)
