Why didn't the left get so worked up about Juanita Broaddrick? She alleged to have been forcibly raped by the US president. Not groped, date raped, harassed, but "rape, rape" (whoopi voice). She was detailed, told people after the incident occurred, and her story never changed throughout the years. I know it was a big story but why wasn't it huge especially once the Lewinsky scandal came to light. The left is so dam hypocritical. And as much as I love Bill Clinton, he probably should be in prison. Will Justice ever be served?
Bottling?

I agree about Bill Clinton. I didn’t know until during the 2016 campaign while I was reading sexual assault allegations against Trump that multiple women had alleged that Clinton had raped them in the past. I was a child at the time, and all I remember hearing about was Monica Lewinsky and Genifer Flowers, both of whose sexual encounters with Clinton I believe were consensual. How were the rape charges buried? What happened to the women?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 30, 2018 6:52 PM |
OP, because those allegations have been investigated repeatedly, both officially and unofficially, because Broaddrick changed her story after filing a sworn affidavit (clumsily lying in your original post like that, by the way, really doesn't help your case) and because people have "Clinton fatigue." The unrelenting right-wing attacks against both Clintons have been going on for over a quarter of a century. Enough.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 30, 2018 6:59 PM |
Actually, R2, only one woman has accused Clinton of rape and that's Broaddrick. The other charges were one charge of exposing himself (Jones) and two charges of groping (Willey and Millwee).
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 30, 2018 7:03 PM |
Because you troll, she was found to be lying. Of course you're trying to deflect from the Kavanagh hearings and all the bullshit from the Republicans. Considering how much of a hunt there was for the Clintons, if there was something about Broderick, it sure as hell would have come out. What about the Paula Jones bullshit? Remember that? Turned out to be a nothing burger also.
OP - do you have any decency or capacity for fairness?

Before she met Ken Starr she said it never happened. After she met Ken Starr she reversed her prior affidavit and said it did. Which version is the lie and which the truth?
The moral of the story is don’t be a liar if you want to be believed.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 30, 2018 7:14 PM |
All women are to be believed.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 30, 2018 7:15 PM |
Doesn't help her story when she accepted money and travel from Trump to show up at a debate. And the people she supposedly told the story to had their own reasons for lying.
She swore that nothing happened in an affadavit during the Paula Jones affair - then switched her story. Supposedly she didn't want her name dragged through the media. Fair enough I guess, but that was going to happen regardless.
Oh - and not that this has much bearing, but it does say something - at the time of the rape, she was having an affair with Mr. Broadderick while they were both still married to their spouses. That's not exactly a 100% Christian virtuous woman we're talking about.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 30, 2018 7:19 PM |
Tell you what, OP: when Trump and his associates, when Kavanaugh and his friends, are investigated for a quarter century, undergo multiple Congressional investigations, have a special prosecutor focus years of research on them, and have a whole cottage industry devoted to nothing but Bill and Hillary investigations, then we can talk hypocrisy.
Until then, all you're demonstrating is that you're a fool or an operative.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 30, 2018 7:21 PM |
She also refused to testify under oath that it happened.

by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 30, 2018 7:24 PM |
r7, really. Juanita told several people, including her close friend right after itf happened in 1978. She had no idea that Bill Clinton would be president one day. Yes she may have claimed that it didn't' happen to Kenn Starr initially because of a financial settlement I believed she received. Her behavior and actions back in the 70s, if anyone on the left actually cares about the facts, points to a woman that was raped. Slick Willie needs to be sharing a prison cell with Bill Cosby.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 30, 2018 7:24 PM |
25 years from now, after both Clintons are dead, these idiots will [italic]still[/italic] be bringing up Bill and Hillary. The real "mind bottling" [sic] thing here is their total obsession with them.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 30, 2018 7:25 PM |
The only story Broaddrick told UNDER OATH was a DENIAL of a rape. She said otherwise ONLY when NOT sworn to tell the truth.
But maybe she wanted money to get plastic surgery, a la Paula Jones. Or maybe Show-Biz gigs, a la Gennifer Flowers. Or pity, a la Kathleen Willey. Or simply some kind, any kind, of limelight.

How does that make you less guilty?

OP's stupidity is genuinely mind-boGGling.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 30, 2018 7:27 PM |
Not to mention their own hypocrisy, R18, that they spent decades attacking Bill but recoil in horror at the thought of a few days delay for Kavanaugh.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 30, 2018 7:28 PM |
He raped her. Then he didn't rape her ("Broaddrick says she did not tell her husband, Gary Hickey, about the incident, and told him she accidentally injured her lip. He told NBC he did not remember the injury or her explanation"). Then Paula Jones. Then Ken Starr. Then a "memoir" ("My Life As A Hillbilly Political Pawn"?)... She has never stopped talking about the alleged incident.
She's unstable and morally questionable (serial liar, marital affairs, etc.). Another Monica.
But the Repugs go find her every time the Clintons run for office. She has semi-retired as a Clinton harasser, re$iding comfortably somewhere in Arkansas.

I have no idea whether her allegations are true (I haven’t read anything about it), but this has absolutely no bearing. Please don’t bring up shit like this. It’s no better than right-wingers and defense attorneys who claim that a victim couldn’t have been raped if she wore a tight dress/got drunk/is a sex worker.

R24 - it does have some bearing because she repeatedly changed her story and wrote books about it. Wearing an item of clothing is not the same as carrying on an adulterous affair. It DOES speak to your character - a mini-skirt does not, nor does being drunk.

Let's make something perfectly clear: This is essentially the same as when Republicans stupidly talk about the KKK having been Democrats.
Bill Clinton -if he were trying to become the nominee of the Dem Party TODAY- would never have been nominated, because Dems actually take things like this seriously, that's why Al Franken is gone and Roy Moore had the support of the Reps to the very end. Whether you believe her or not, there's no way he would've gotten far if all of these women came out to accuse him. The GOP has no standards. We all see they have no standards. Be as repulsive as you like towards women, but as long as you're also a racist, selfish and willing to do the bidding of the wealthiest 1%, you're good to go. The stupidest, poorest conservatives will vote for you because you're also white.
John Edwards is persona non grata because of his personal life.
If Trump's ideology was left-wing and he had all of that baggage including "grab them by the pussy," you think he would've been nominated by the Dems?

Weird how Republicans keep saying they should investigate Bill Clinton instead like that's some sort of defense of Kavanaugh. (But not fellow accused sexual assailant Donald Trump, of course.) Kavanaugh is about to be appointed to a lifetime position of power making judgments for the entire country, right NOW. That's why the issue needs to be examined right now.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 30, 2018 9:49 PM |
They're trying to pretend it's all political, R42, and that we're all just terrible, terrible hypocrites because we didn't insist that Clinton be investigated, insist that he step down, etc.
It's all bullshit, of course.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 30, 2018 9:54 PM |
Ah yes, Ms. Broaddrick.
Broaddrick repeatedly sidesteps saying whether she believes the dozen-plus women accusing President Trump, whose campaign roped her into the post-“Access Hollywood”-tape presidential debate, of unwanted touching. “You know, I don’t know what to say about that,” she said. “I think they have the right to be heard and I think that it needs to be investigated. And if it needs to be brought out more, then that’s only fair.” But does she believe them based on what she’s heard so far, including journalists’ investigative efforts? “I wish I knew. I’m still on the fence,” she said. “I would certainly like to hear more.” Trump could lose her 2020 vote “if the things come out and are leaning toward his victims,” Broaddrick said, but he has her support for now. “I just wish he wouldn’t tweet so much — it’s exhausting.”
She’s similarly noncommittal on Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, who vehemently denies a spate of sexual misconduct accusations that include molesting a 14-year-old girl in the 1970s. “I think it started as politically motivated, but at this point, I don’t know,” she said. “I don’t want to make a statement that accuses one when it turns out to be the other one that’s at fault. … I don’t know who’s telling the truth.”

by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 30, 2018 11:50 PM |
R44, and no one seems to ask her why it is she appears to determine her position on the accused by their party affil., rather than by the evidence itself.
What a horrible woman. Just fucking horrible.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | October 1, 2018 12:35 AM |
r29, Well because she makes some good points if you one actually listens to what she has to say. I'm no fkin republican and this issue should not be bipartisan. But come one. This lady told no one, not a soul until very recent history. She claim to have a fear of flying yet that all vanishes like its nothing. I truly believe this woman is a headcase who the democrats found has a pot of gold. But this shit is not kosher. If her persecution is successful then anyone can make up anything about a very successful person and ruin their career almost half a century later.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 1, 2018 5:01 AM |
r44, obviously Mrs. Broaddrick was traumatized from the rape and then the bullying she encountered from the Clintons in the 90s. And the entire media machine behind them. She's not exactly thinking straight. But that doesn't delegitimize the insight on how victims behave.
