Kavanaugh was an asshole on the stand today because he was drying out.

Anybody who's ever been around a blackout drunk that's forced to stop drinking knows what I'm talking about.

by Anonymousreply 255September 30, 2018 1:35 AM

You might be onto something OP. I was shocked by his aggressiveness and at times he even seemed deranged.

by Anonymousreply 1September 28, 2018 4:44 AM

^^ "Guilt" lashes out when cornered.

by Anonymousreply 2September 28, 2018 4:46 AM

It was painful watching him try to hold back the tears. It seemed like he was sad that his perfect life was no longer perfect. He answered too many questions by repeating his academic/sports pedigree.

by Anonymousreply 3September 28, 2018 4:46 AM

Excellent point.

Thanks for posting.

by Anonymousreply 4September 28, 2018 4:48 AM

I saw a close up of his face and he has the broken capillaries on his cheeks, the telltale sign of a long term alcoholic

by Anonymousreply 5September 28, 2018 4:51 AM

If anyone has dealt with alcoholism in their family, it was on full display there today. It was all there if you knew what to look for.

by Anonymousreply 6September 28, 2018 4:53 AM

He went apeshit when the congresswoman asked him if he had ever blacked out while drunk

by Anonymousreply 7September 28, 2018 4:55 AM

yes, i posted in another thread a few days ago that I could tell he was a heavy drinker just by looking at his face, flushed red. Some cunt made fun of me saying I could diagnose from a picture.

by Anonymousreply 8September 28, 2018 4:56 AM

r8 there's always that one cunt around here.

by Anonymousreply 9September 28, 2018 4:59 AM

Agreed he may have real drinking issues to this day.

by Anonymousreply 10September 28, 2018 5:01 AM
there's always that one cunt around here.

I hate Julie too.

by Anonymousreply 11September 28, 2018 5:02 AM

Everyone likes to think of Koala bears as gentle, cuddly animals, but try to take the Eucalyptus away from one of them and see how he lashes out with razor-sharp claws coated with exotic bacteria. It's the same with Country Club children like Brett, when you try to take something away from them that they think they're entitled to

by Anonymousreply 13September 28, 2018 5:05 AM

So r12 what motivated three or four women who didn't know each other to come forward? Was it a "conspiracy"? How could they possibly stand to benefit from bringing these charges? On the other hand, what could possibly motivate Brett Kavanaugh to deny everything and stonewall forever? Well, how about a lifetime appointment to the nation's highest court? Yes. So his motive to deny the accusations is clear. What is their motive in bringing them?

by Anonymousreply 14September 28, 2018 5:11 AM

R12, if you're jockeying for a job as a Supreme Court Justice you CANNOT appear like a rabid jackal no matter what the circumstances are

by Anonymousreply 15September 28, 2018 5:12 AM

Absolutely. Kavanaugh is a prime candidate for blackmail and bribery. He has a severe drinking problem, money problems caused by gambling issues and has all these people from his high school and college years swearing that he also has anger and aggressive behavior problems, particularly against women, especially when he drinks. All his debts were mysteriously paid off when his name was placed on the Republicans wish list for the supreme court. He is being considered for a well paying, lifetime job with virtually no chance of being fired. All he has to do is promise to vote the way the republications in charge ask and he is set for life. I am sure there is an ongoing payment plan for him in exchange for his following the republican party wishes on all supreme court decisions. I am sure he was promised a quick approval for the supreme court seat and that all his dirty laundry would be hushed up and all evidence of it withheld from the information provided to the members of congress. It is a perfect solution to all his problems and Republicans can be sure of a puppet on the court who will always do their bidding as long as they protect him and keep paying him off.

by Anonymousreply 16September 28, 2018 5:13 AM

R13 They're all millionaires they all grew up privileged , who are you talking about ?

by Anonymousreply 17September 28, 2018 5:13 AM

Well, after seeing kavanaugh and watching the "battlefield Earth" that is the senate, I will be joining the band of alcoholics formerly known as non drinkers.

by Anonymousreply 18September 28, 2018 5:14 AM

working past cocktail time. If he’s a nooner, and keeps a flask under his robe, then he went several hours overdue.

by Anonymousreply 19September 28, 2018 5:15 AM

He claims today that he likes beer and still likes beer! But I think he's a whiskey drinker. They all have red faces. I've waited tables at many resto bars and I can spot them a mile away.

by Anonymousreply 20September 28, 2018 5:16 AM

I don't think he is fit for the job. It's been very stressful for him and his family, bet he's hitting the bottle double time!

by Anonymousreply 21September 28, 2018 5:17 AM

No R16 he actually has "all these people from his high school and college years" backing him up, and supportjng his version of events. You're referring mostly to stories which have been debunked or denied by the people involved. Only his freshman roommate has said he was a belligerent drunk as far as as I've seen, and he's friends with an accuser, and FWIW most people hate their freshman roomies.

by Anonymousreply 22September 28, 2018 5:18 AM

Totally agree.

Had a grandmother who was an angry drunk throughout my father's childhood and also--even years later--mine. (She was one of those people who smoked like a chimney and drank, but lived to be 91.) I hadn't thought of her in years, but Kavanaugh--the anger, and the faces, and the resentment, etc--reminded me so much of her.

Like the poster above said, if you have someone like this in your life, you see all the signs on him.

by Anonymousreply 23September 28, 2018 5:19 AM

I was sort of on the fence about Kavanaugh until these allegations came forth. After his performance today, it is abundantly clear to me that he is a lying, wholly partisan, toad nominated solely because of his right-wing views. His performance was something straight out of the Donald Trump playbook. There is no way that fucker should be on the Supreme Court. He made it totally clear that he is in no way unbiased on any issue at all.

by Anonymousreply 24September 28, 2018 5:20 AM

The dude was belligerent today. He showed his crazy side for all to see.

by Anonymousreply 25September 28, 2018 5:21 AM

He's Irish!!! Is there any doubt?? FFS. They drink like fishes. It's genetic. That will be his excuse.

by Anonymousreply 26September 28, 2018 5:21 AM

That petulant fratboy asshole personality was never more evident than when he was yelling HOW MUCH DO YOU DRINK?? HOW MUCH DO YOU DRINK????

by Anonymousreply 27September 28, 2018 5:22 AM

Maybe his liver will bust before he gets confirmed

by Anonymousreply 28September 28, 2018 5:23 AM

They don’t have the votes yet, and in they likely event they don’t get them, whichever senator comes out first as a NO wins.

Everyone else will seem like they are just following.

It’s a race to see who wins.

by Anonymousreply 29September 28, 2018 5:23 AM

I’m gonna vote for Murkowski. It’s down to her.

by Anonymousreply 30September 28, 2018 5:24 AM

R12=Brett Kavanaugh.

by Anonymousreply 31September 28, 2018 5:24 AM

He does have the self-pity part down pat. “Oh, woe is me! The universe is out to get me, I *have* to drink like a fish!”

by Anonymousreply 32September 28, 2018 5:27 AM

He revealed himself as a rabid Trumpist partisan. That alone should be disqualifying—the naked, raw partisanship. Even Justice Scalia didn't openly scream at Democrats, even if we knew what he really felt. He at least felt an obligation to maintain the appearance of being above partisan squabbling—a sense of decorum that seems to have disappeared from public life. Make no mistake: he's very dangerous.

by Anonymousreply 33September 28, 2018 5:39 AM

What this country really needs is some woman to come forward with proof Kavanaugh paid for her abortion.

by Anonymousreply 34September 28, 2018 5:41 AM

r34 Yes, and the same for TRUMP

by Anonymousreply 35September 28, 2018 5:44 AM

R33 you are absolutely correct. Aside from the sexual misconduct allegations, Kavanaugh showed himself today to be totally partisan and unable to be fair and open minded about anything. I would expect that he has his mind made up about a case before he gets very far into the brief.

by Anonymousreply 36September 28, 2018 5:45 AM
backing him up, and supportjng his version of events

No, in fact they're not supporting his version of events. They're saying they don't know conclusively one way or the other what happened at the party. This is one of the biggest falsehoods being pushed by his supporters.

Meanwhile, there have been numerous reports of his heavy drinking - it wasn't just his freshman year roommate at Yale.

by Anonymousreply 37September 28, 2018 5:49 AM

Maybe he was auditioning for a radio show since he blew his chances?

Feinstein will be a hero when the smoke clears.

by Anonymousreply 38September 28, 2018 5:55 AM

We need to hear from the other two witnesses.

by Anonymousreply 39September 28, 2018 5:56 AM

r36 And not just unacceptably partisan and closed-minded, but also temperamentally unfit--we don't want someone on the Supreme Court who's going to shout and cry when people contradict him. His emotionality and affect today -- for me the peak was in his exchange with Feinstein, when she asked "Do you want to say anything more about that?" and he insolently said "No" and then swiveled in his chair like the NARCISSISTIC PUNK that he is -- make him unfit to serve on the SCOTUS. In this respect Clarence Thomas is more qualified than he is.

by Anonymousreply 40September 28, 2018 5:56 AM
He claims today that he likes beer and still likes beer! But I think he's a whiskey drinker.

No doubt. I've been around enough alcoholics to know that as soon as they start with the "I only drink beer so I can't have a drinking problem" bullshit you know you're dealing with a first class drunk.

by Anonymousreply 41September 28, 2018 6:08 AM

I turned it on just as klobuchar was asking him about his drinking. He snapped back with a "do you?" Response. Nasty little piece of work. I know you can't 100% judge a person by their "look", but he has that entitled little jock brat look. Reminds me of the countless assholes from high school who had everything handed to them and were protected because they were jocks and/or their parents were "important". If he does get confirmed (which I believe he will), he won't last long. I predict car crash or an aggressive form of liver cancer.

by Anonymousreply 42September 28, 2018 6:25 AM
you know you're dealing with a first class drunk.

More like steerage.

by Anonymousreply 43September 28, 2018 6:27 AM

I'm not an alcoholic and I have broken capillaries. My grandmother had them too. She had one sweet vermouth before dinner. I think Kavanaugh is probably a drunk. Capillaries and flushing aren't proof of it though.

by Anonymousreply 44September 28, 2018 6:30 AM

Definitely has that bloated red face typical of alcoholics.

And the repeated insistence, "I like beer," as if to imply, "It's only beer, its not the hard stuff, so what's the big deal?"

Also seemed so belligerent, like he had gone a day or two without a drink.

by Anonymousreply 45September 28, 2018 6:33 AM

Dry drunk... nastier than when drunk.

by Anonymousreply 46September 28, 2018 6:47 AM

A lot of fair people have broken capillaries without drinking. (This runs in my family, and I'm starting to get them as well. I probably have two drinks per year.)

Sun damage can cause it, pulling to hard on your skin (especially with exfoliating scrubs, which I did for years), added to the natural thinning of skin layers with age.

by Anonymousreply 47September 28, 2018 6:47 AM

^^fair-skinned people

by Anonymousreply 48September 28, 2018 6:48 AM
He answered too many questions by repeating his academic/sports pedigree

Agree, and found this extremely annoying, especially in his hour long intro rant. He started off strong and then descended into a long, boring harangue about what a scholar/athlete/alter boy he was in high school. On and on about his creepy calendar. Over explaining, twitching and stuttering-- JFC, he looked guilty as hell. Why does he think trying to show how "busy" he was that summer proves anything? How embarrassing. FFS, professional athletes with far more rigorous training schedules find time to get up to all kinds of trouble. And the over emphasis on his Catholic, prep school upbringing? WTF? Hasn't this guy read the news about all the catholic priest scandals? It doesn't help you in any way in 2018 to talk about what a "good" Catholic boy you are/were.

by Anonymousreply 49September 28, 2018 7:25 AM

yes, that thing he did with his tongue inside his mouth totally grossed me out!!!

by Anonymousreply 50September 28, 2018 7:27 AM

His bad haircut and Just For Men dye job was very distracting. That alone makes me seriously question his judgement.

by Anonymousreply 51September 28, 2018 7:30 AM

I'm feeling like when Drumpf was elected . Like I'm in an Assehole in Wonderland story

by Anonymousreply 52September 28, 2018 7:34 AM

He sounded like an angry drunk who was told to stop drinking.

by Anonymousreply 53September 28, 2018 7:42 AM

I can totally picture him being like so many people I know....They are 100% nice and professional but when they drink, they turn into fucking assholes....and then they will blame the behavior on the booze. It's not them, it's never them, it's the booze.

by Anonymousreply 54September 28, 2018 7:46 AM

He’s a nasty abusive drunk. He suffers from tiny peepee syndrome. I wouldn’t doubt that he beats his wife. She seems very timid and afraid to speak out. #hertoo.

by Anonymousreply 55September 28, 2018 7:48 AM

His opening statement reminded me very much of certain of my alcoholic father’s drunken bar buddies when they would get all maudlin and self-pitying and start ranting about the injustices life had dealt them (none of which were in any way their fault, of course).

by Anonymousreply 56September 28, 2018 7:58 AM

His sad family should speak up...they know he is a vicious drunk.

by Anonymousreply 57September 28, 2018 8:24 AM
Agree, and found this extremely annoying, especially in his hour long intro rant. As people here remind us on here time and again. He is not on trial, his character is. Defending his own character and accomplishments is fair game. A hardcore alcoholic simply does not have the time nor the discipline to excel athletically or academically, much less work in the highest levels of government.
you are absolutely correct. Aside from the sexual misconduct allegations, Kavanaugh showed himself today to be totally partisan and unable to be fair and open minded about anything. I would expect that he has his mind made up about a case before he gets very far into the brief.

Perhaps he cares more about protecting his and his family's integrity more than his job at this point.
The dude was belligerent today. He showed his crazy side for all to see.

If he appeared meek or mild mannered or intimidated people would have automatically assumed he was guilty. It's kind of hilarious to read the comments about how angry he was. Of course he should be angry if we are to believe him.

by Anonymousreply 58September 28, 2018 8:34 AM

Emotional:

Getting wasted and sexually assaulting high school freshmen with his odious buddies is who this guy is. Samuel Johnson said it better than I can:

[italic]Sir Joshua having also observed that the real character of a man was found out by his amusements, Johnson added, "Yes, Sir, no man is a hypocrite in his pleasures."[/italic]

by Anonymousreply 60September 28, 2018 9:30 AM

R58, you are wrong. I have known alcoholics who were lawyers, judges, partners at big four accounting firms, even a surgeon.

by Anonymousreply 61September 28, 2018 9:42 AM

Let him drink himself to death I say!

by Anonymousreply 62September 28, 2018 9:48 AM
If he appeared meek or mild mannered or intimidated people would have automatically assumed he was guilty. It's kind of hilarious to read the comments about how angry he was. Of course he should be angry if we are to believe him.

Nonsense. A person can refute accusations without becoming angry. And witnesses can believe a calm response.

Are you making this garbage up yourself, or are you cribbing from some right-wing rag?

by Anonymousreply 63September 28, 2018 9:54 AM

Thumbs down to another bad guy...

by Anonymousreply 64September 28, 2018 9:56 AM

If he doesn't physically abuse her, I'm sure he's verbally abusive... a bully. The wife has that look.

by Anonymousreply 65September 28, 2018 10:03 AM

So much for the dirty laundry being kept hush hush. There is more to come, no doubt.

by Anonymousreply 66September 28, 2018 10:06 AM

I could understand if he showed some anger, but he was over the top in his emotions, and kept rambling. He didn't demonstrate any "grace under fire", which would be a big part of his job, given the important, needing a level head, decisions he'll make regarding this country. I was shocked at the display.

by Anonymousreply 67September 28, 2018 10:06 AM

r54 so you're saying you think he was drunk during the hearing? Because that was definitely not the behavior of a nice man.

by Anonymousreply 68September 28, 2018 10:07 AM

Gin and regrets.

by Anonymousreply 69September 28, 2018 10:13 AM

OP, I think you really might be onto something.

by Anonymousreply 70September 28, 2018 10:38 AM

His terrible hairdo in that yearbook photo is actually better than his terrible hairdo today.

by Anonymousreply 71September 28, 2018 10:55 AM

He seems like one of those guys that thrives on being respected. He can taste the SC already. I am sure there is much more dirt that contradicts his angelic self-portrait, and thus his so-called integrity. There's a difference between having your reputation ruined by false accusation and having it ruined by your own behavior and responsibility which you deny, hide, suppress or avoid, and the constant fear of being found out, Wonder which motivated his self-righteous rage today?

by Anonymousreply 72September 28, 2018 11:05 AM

He seems like a nasty drunk.

by Anonymousreply 73September 28, 2018 11:05 AM

He isn’t fit to be a regular judge, let alone a SCOTUS member.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 74September 28, 2018 11:17 AM

He should be heading for prison. Instead, he’ll be one of the most powerful judges in the world. Thanks Trump.

by Anonymousreply 75September 28, 2018 11:32 AM

I thought it was interesting that he kept emphasizing that there'd never been "a whiff" of impropriety attached to his squeaky clean reputation -- to me, that sounded like he'd worked damn hard to keep lots of people shut up and was furious that after all the bribes and favors and maybe the murdering of a mistress, he'd forgotten to tie up the lose end of some worthless afternoon assault that he didn't even get to cum from.

by Anonymousreply 76September 28, 2018 11:37 AM

Now the ABA wants him investigated. I'm loving it!

by Anonymousreply 77September 28, 2018 11:40 AM

r26 He was born in Washington, he isn't Irish in any way shape or form.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 78September 28, 2018 11:42 AM

He does have the big fat Irish head thing going on though

by Anonymousreply 79September 28, 2018 11:42 AM

Obvious tiny meat. He's probably never had sex sober.

by Anonymousreply 80September 28, 2018 11:50 AM

Two words for r58, functional alcoholic.

Two more: entitled prick.

by Anonymousreply 81September 28, 2018 12:10 PM

To put it bluntly, his wife has "door mat" face stamped on her.

I'd bet she's been through a number of beat downs by him whenever his temper reached what we all saw yesterday.

That is the face of a woman who's been domesticated the hard way.

by Anonymousreply 82September 28, 2018 12:24 PM

Can’t imagine what the other Supreme Court justices are thinking. Would you want to work with this guy?

by Anonymousreply 83September 28, 2018 12:46 PM

Of course he has fucking Irish DNA. Geez.

by Anonymousreply 84September 28, 2018 1:01 PM

Definitely a functional alcoholic.

Wife no doubt has been on the receiving end of his verbal tirades and temper for years. She's clearly been beaten down, figuratively, over years to the point where she is indeed a doormat.

by Anonymousreply 85September 28, 2018 1:05 PM

He seems like a man who peaked in high school. Who wants to stay a boy so badly that he holds on to calendars from 1982. Obsessed with sports. Still calls his buds "Timmy", etc. The same Vitalis hairstyle he wore back then.

A spoiled, baby-faced only child who mommy never wanted to grow-up and leave her and daddy's Oedipal triangle. So he has rage issues at women for castrating him. Alcohol eases the frustration but enables his tantrums.

He seems to have no real adult bond with his wife. She stands off to the side of this stranger, tolerant and disinterested- like a babysitter and her charge.

by Anonymousreply 86September 28, 2018 1:29 PM

R71 It was just as terrible, it's just the hair that was better because your hair is healthier and stronger when you're younger.

by Anonymousreply 87September 28, 2018 1:43 PM

Is everyone forgetting about Hilary's emails?!?!? Benghazi? Pedo pizza??

by Anonymousreply 88September 28, 2018 1:45 PM

But my CALENDARS!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 89September 28, 2018 1:48 PM

202-224-3121. US Senate phone #. Lets swamp Senators Flake, Collins, and Murkowski’s phone lines to vote NO on this entitled prick. He should never cast his shadow on the doors of our Supreme Court.

by Anonymousreply 90September 28, 2018 1:50 PM

Op, he was an asshole because Trump told him to be one. You should watch the news instead of listening to the voices in your head. It was reported yesterday that Trump wanted to see him fight back and that Trump was pleased with his performance. He was told to emulate Clarance Thomas and he did.

by Anonymousreply 91September 28, 2018 1:53 PM

He can’t admit to blacking out.

He is truly awful.

The American government is as legitimate as a Trump housekeeper kid.

by Anonymousreply 92September 28, 2018 1:55 PM

Great post r13

by Anonymousreply 93September 28, 2018 2:04 PM

Lol r52

It does feel like Asshole in Wonderland

by Anonymousreply 94September 28, 2018 2:10 PM

I had alcoholics in my family and the signs are all there. He was a blackout drunk as a teen and has never stopped drinking, he made that clear. Many people function enough at work. His temperament is not suited for the Court of Appeals job. The weeping and raging were like some Billy Joel song. The Republicans are costing themselves by hanging onto this nominee. Next.

His defense was very Clintonesque, although I think Brett did not fare well with the ladies. Both should be held accountable for their behavior.

by Anonymousreply 95September 28, 2018 2:13 PM

Brett is an incel who has to rape to get his dick wet.

by Anonymousreply 96September 28, 2018 2:14 PM

Avenatti says they're telling the public more this weekend. They better hurry.

by Anonymousreply 97September 28, 2018 2:24 PM

The wife was an older plain jane who worked for Bush, she went into this with her eyes wide open so can't feel too sorry for her

by Anonymousreply 98September 28, 2018 2:27 PM

He's not a drunk. He is a nerd. Did you see the way he straightened the items on the table before speaking? He's a precise neat-freak boring nerd. He has been accused of gang-rape, molesting women, "trains" and all sorts of nefarious behavior at the last minute. Literally after months of hearings. His reputation has been molested after decades of public service. He had to explain to his daughters what was happening. You would be angry as well.

by Anonymousreply 99September 28, 2018 2:27 PM

He shouldn't have brought his daughters around and the girl's team he coaches. He wanted to look like a good guy so it's on him. I would protect my kids from this, not use them to make myself look good.

by Anonymousreply 100September 28, 2018 2:29 PM

Oh please R99. You really think his daughters don’t know?

by Anonymousreply 101September 28, 2018 2:29 PM

Flake just confirmed he’s going with his man, Kavanaugh. It’s all over folks. Glad I live in Canada.

by Anonymousreply 102September 28, 2018 2:33 PM

R12 As I recall, when Clarence Thomas faced the same charges at his hearing he remained composed, he did not freak out once but he calmly denied the charges. To this day, I am sure he was guilty and Anita Hill was telling the truth, but those hearings were conducted in a more civilized way. Kavanaugh is as guilty as sin if I am picking up the signals and body language correctly. I am very familiar with alcohol withdrawal having gone through them myself 20 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 103September 28, 2018 2:35 PM

The Supreme Court should have term limits of 10 years max. This life-long stranglehold on the Court by these bastards needs to end. #Enough

by Anonymousreply 104September 28, 2018 3:06 PM

Can we make sure he still keeps drinking like a fish? Maybe he will die quickly. Wouldn't it be nice if all the evil right wingers would die quickly. Nothing wrong with a hopeful dream.

by Anonymousreply 105September 28, 2018 3:26 PM

I called the disgusting Grassley to tell him what I think of him, everyone should.

by Anonymousreply 106September 28, 2018 3:27 PM

I believe Dr. Ford but her account of what happened went a little too far...she thought she was gonna be killed...yeah right lol. These are frat boy types, they are not gonna murder you. That was a bit much for me.

I know many, many heavy drinkers who are in high powered positions. They drink to relieve the pressure and stress or that's what they say.

As for that freshman roommie, c'mon, 99% of all boys in college drank and puked all over the bathroom, that is part of growing up for them.

I can't believe Dr Ford's father thought membership at the country club was more important than his daughter...FATHER OF THE YEAR!

by Anonymousreply 107September 28, 2018 3:41 PM

R99, if I were innocent, I would have requested the FBI look into to confirm so.

They would have been done in a couple days.

Dr. Ford is the one entitled to be angry. She was a victim of a serial rapist who will become scotus judge. Yet she was able to manage her emotions.

Bretty is too emotional & histrionic for this job. Plus he’s a misogynist, partisan predator. And an alkie.

by Anonymousreply 108September 28, 2018 3:44 PM

Is r107 a parody post? Because it’s kind of hysterical.

by Anonymousreply 109September 28, 2018 3:46 PM

Trump is not legitimately president. By extension, his scotus appointee is also not legitimate.

The patriarchy is crumbling. It was never meant to be so of course it’s unsustainable.

God bless all future victims of assholes like Trump & Kavanaugh.

by Anonymousreply 110September 28, 2018 3:49 PM

R107, she thought he was going to accidentally snap her neck. He was on top of her with his hand tight against her mouth. His friend Judge was jumping on top of them.

by Anonymousreply 111September 28, 2018 3:58 PM

my work has CNN and Faux News, and CNBC on...Bill Hemmer still looks the same!

by Anonymousreply 112September 28, 2018 3:58 PM

His angry partisan speech ("I can be impartial", my ass), his quivering lips and crocodile tears, his belligerance, his nervous ticks (nose and drinking), his disdain for the Democrats (especially the women) etc....He sounded and acted just like Trump (except for the tears of course). Is this the fucking "best" the GOP have for a lifelong appointment on the Supreme Court? We're doomed.

Bullshit R114. There was a witness. But, the lowlife lush is holed up in a beach house somewhere in Delaware. Kavanaugh and his boys on the Republican side are scared shitless for him to defend his bogus letter.

by Anonymousreply 117September 28, 2018 4:05 PM

Yeah, holed up in "Delaware", a state that doesn't even exist.

by Anonymousreply 118September 28, 2018 4:07 PM

I definitely think it happened. But I think it was mark Judge who was the leader and he just went along with it. Brett strikes me as someone who knew what he wanted to do from a young age and was focused on it. I don't think he raped girls on the side, it wouldn't fit into his plan for his future. All those fucking calendars...he is a planner. I know a lot of people who plan like this and they won't take stupid risks like raping girls but booze is involved so who knows?

by Anonymousreply 119September 28, 2018 4:07 PM

R114 can relate to Bretty.

My past can withstand scrutiny. and I’m a regular person not an elite like Bretty.

I think lots of straight men are putting together all the not fully consensual sex that they’ve gotten away with. Their emotions are running high because of their own guilty consciences.

Nobody trusts straight white men anymore. They’ve exposed themselves to be the dangerous thugs they are.

by Anonymousreply 120September 28, 2018 4:08 PM

R114 It's scary how someone can keep detailed calendars and have potentially hundreds of character witnesses and still be presumed guilty without hard evidence. If it were any one of us, we'd be thrown in jail without a proper hearing regardless of the crime.

by Anonymousreply 121September 28, 2018 4:09 PM

R115 doesn’t even grasp how misogynistic the thread he linked is.

R115, you’re not worthy of my attention. I don’t engage with stupids.

R118 ???

by Anonymousreply 123September 28, 2018 4:11 PM

R122 I didn't say it wasn't. But misandry should be called out just the same. That thread is still active by the way.

by Anonymousreply 124September 28, 2018 4:12 PM

R121, his calendar entry for July 7 listed hanging out with Mark Judge & PJ.

Those are the two guys that Dr. Ford says was there.

SO THAT’S PROOF THAT SUPPORTS DR. FORD.

by Anonymousreply 125September 28, 2018 4:12 PM

R107 - "These are frat boy types, they are not gonna murder you. That was a bit much for me."

Ever heard of the Preppy Murderer?

by Anonymousreply 127September 28, 2018 4:12 PM

R124, the entire world is run by men. If misandry exists, it is powerless.

And the confirmation of an ALCOHOLIC RAPIST to the US Supreme Court proves it.

by Anonymousreply 133September 28, 2018 4:21 PM

Hey, you stupid jackass at R107...why don't you ask someone who actually knows how it feels to be attacked? I was attacked when I was a teen and that was the cruelest part of the attack...I thought the guy was going to kill me.

by Anonymousreply 134September 28, 2018 4:22 PM

It looks to me as if all Republicans are criminals and they intend that are government be a criminal enterprise.

by Anonymousreply 135September 28, 2018 4:25 PM

He lied and lied to the Senate...it is caulked perjury and looks like he will get away with it.

FFFFFourth of July has a sexual meaning which is disrespectful to woman. Seems like these drunken frat boys really hate the ladies.

by Anonymousreply 136September 28, 2018 4:31 PM

I don’t think it is hate, but rather, contempt. Women exist for one purpose, which is for their pleasure. They don’t view women as individuals with their own dreams and desires.

by Anonymousreply 137September 28, 2018 4:37 PM
R107: ...I believe Dr. Ford but her account of what happened went a little too far...she thought she was gonna be killed...yeah right lol. These are frat boy types, they are not gonna murder you. That was a bit much for me.

You’ve clearly never been in any similar situation. Once you realize that you are trapped, under the physical control of someone(s) who has already breached the most heinous of social laws and norms, that they mean to hurt you and you are completely helpless, yeah, it’s perfectly normal to think in the moment that you might be killed. Also, it actually happens all the time.
I know many, many heavy drinkers who are in high powered positions. They drink to relieve the pressure and stress or that's what they say.

The point being, let’s not add one more drunk.
As for that freshman roommie, c'mon, 99% of all boys in college drank and puked all over the bathroom, that is part of growing up for them.

A problem here is that, if he did this, he should have said so. Instead, he lied about it. What else is he lying about? A lot, it seems. The whole sexual assault matter, obviously. He’s lying about his drinking today. You don’t hire a sadistic, lying, drunk to be on the SCOTUS.

R107, I think your comments have more “stupid” per character than any I’ve seen yet.

by Anonymousreply 138September 28, 2018 4:40 PM

by Anonymousreply 140September 28, 2018 4:45 PM

There are witnesses. Holed up in Delaware.

by Anonymousreply 141September 28, 2018 4:46 PM

Did anyone catch the reference Ksv made yesterday to the “Confidential Session” to refute his roommate’s assertion that he was falling down mean drunk? Something happened there no one wants to talk about in an open forum.

When coupled with Kav’s refusal in WH rehearsal sessions to answer questions about his drinking or “sexual proclivities” I’m wondering if, on top of everything else, we’re about to put a self hating closet case on the Supreme Court

Do straight men ever use the word “proclivities” when talking about their sexual history?

by Anonymousreply 142September 28, 2018 4:49 PM

I think Ford was attacked. It wasn’t Kavanaugh though.

by Anonymousreply 143September 28, 2018 4:52 PM
R121: It's scary how someone can keep detailed calendars and have potentially hundreds of character witnesses and still be presumed guilty without hard evidence.

You’re missing the point, entirely. The point is, that more, proper investigation could actually produce the evidence needed to make the facts known. The Republicans prefer to decide in ignorance. So does the nominee. That’s suspicious in itself. But under no circumstances do you hire a candidate for a position like this [bold]without more information. [/bold] (Frankly, for any job.)

by Anonymousreply 144September 28, 2018 4:53 PM

Mark Judge, the suspected rapist, denies UNDER OATH, the allegations of multiple felonies. I think we have to agree that he wouldn’t risk a perjury charge just to get away with perhaps decades in prison for these puny crimes! Boys will be boys. Judge K played basketball and went to Yale, for God’s sake!

by Anonymousreply 145September 28, 2018 5:00 PM

I can't wait until he gets voted in!

by Anonymousreply 146September 28, 2018 5:06 PM

I think Ford attacked Kavanaugh. He became a drunk as a result. He heroically graduated Yale [italic] and [/italic] played basketball, despite the trauma. He also really likes bear, really does, just like me! Who doesn’t get blackout drunk and maybe assault women from time to time, maybe?

by Anonymousreply 147September 28, 2018 5:09 PM

R107, to add to what r138 said, when you know your attacker and they know you can send them away to prison, you know they have a motive to kill you. I too believed I was going to be murdered when I was assaulted.

by Anonymousreply 148September 28, 2018 5:43 PM

I thought it was weird when Bretty spoke of Mark Judge’s struggles with addiction.

Like, why is Mark so miserable? Is he being tortured by a guilty conscience?

Rape happens. Boys gang rape girls. The boys might think they “got away with it.” But they didn’t. It’s still with them. It will haunt them til the day they die...unless they come clean with it.

by Anonymousreply 149September 28, 2018 5:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 150September 28, 2018 5:57 PM

by Anonymousreply 151September 28, 2018 6:15 PM

There must be at least 5 secret reasons they all need this creep on SCOTUS. Because the Republicans saw what we saw and they are not dumb. They aren't going to vote on him thinking he's great calibre for Supreme Court Justice. It's the secret stuff.

Thats why there is no FBI.

by Anonymousreply 170September 28, 2018 8:57 PM

All the women accusing him welcome an investigation. Kavanaugh refuses. Why ?

by Anonymousreply 171September 28, 2018 9:07 PM

He was certainly a smart guy good from one great school to another.

Yet, whenever he was asked about his drinking, he dove right into the “I was number 1 in my class; I went to Yale College; then Yale Law School...”. Basically he’s saying, yes I was a belligerent drunk

Sorry, I forgot who was asking the questions there, think it was Blumenthal.

Kavanagh's response was like that of a teenager, not a full grown, well balanced, sober and not cornered adult trying to be seated on the SC. There were quite a few instance yesterday where I yelled "CHECKMATE" at the TV - there is no way this man gets confirmed.

by Anonymousreply 183September 29, 2018 12:43 AM

Serious question for all those in-the-know Americans?

Why no SCOTUS nomination allowed in 2016 when it was an election year?

Why is SCOTUS nomination being pushed thru in 2018, another election year? Shouldn't it wait until after mid-terms?

Fucking Republicans set a precedent in 2016 - call them on it.

And yes, I know 2016 election was Presidential, but weren't some Senate and Congress members also up for re-election? And, since the Senate votes to decide confirmation, shouldn't the public be allowed to vote on this issue?

Republicans are screwed no matter how they handle this one, bad planning I say.

"Judicial temperament" - What Kavanaugh utterly failed to demonstrate. Even if we didn't know about the lying and the evasions, even if we didn't know that they're trying to ram this through before more comes to light, even if we didn't know about the credible accusations, what he demonstrated was enough to forever disqualify him for a role on any court.
Did they ask him about the Renate thing? Oh that's right, he made up some more bullshit about them all admiring her for the sweet and wholesome girl they all respected. Sure.

That's part of what's been interesting about this. It's not just that Kavanaugh has repeatedly lied, it's that he's doing so senselessly and needlessly. All he had to say was that he was young and stupid, that he knows now just how shameful and repugnant such behavior is, and that he deeply and humbly apologizes to her. End of story and everyone would have moved on. Instead, he lied and even had to change his story. What does that say about his character? Not three decades ago, but today?

Get classmates to corroborate their real meanings. Prove he perjured himself. It’s clear Ford’s testimony is not enough for this fuckwads with this sham delay, but perjury is cut and dry here. That’s enough to keep this POS off the SCOTUS for the next 40 years.

by Anonymousreply 196September 29, 2018 3:51 AM

R184 You have a firm grasp of it. It is utter hypocrisy. It all boils down to Mitch McConnell and the rethugs not wanting Obama to have been able to choose three justices in his eight years. Well, now we have Trump getting two picks in under two years. I shudder to think what may happen before 2020.

by Anonymousreply 197September 29, 2018 3:56 AM

I thought one freshman roommate was perceived by the 3rd to be gay and hated for it? Not that BK had sex with the roommate. And the proclivities that they were keeping under wraps were those of the gay roommate?

Kavanaugh reminded me of every drunk I have ever know. He may be a daytime drinker who was jonesing and thus raging and gulping water. There is a high rate of alcoholism in the legal profession. MADD should protest his driving of the car pool.

Dude is a loser and needs to go...I still think that there is a chance that he will be pressed to withdraw his name and they will nominate a woman and quickly confirm her.

by Anonymousreply 198September 29, 2018 3:59 AM

R20 I agree about the delusional "beer" drinkers. I know a couple of men (financially comfortable) who buy and drink high-end wine, and present themselves as sort of wine hobbyists. I think one of them is basically a high class alcoholic.

Also agree that Kavanaugh's facial expressions were like Kabuki theater. That face was not made in a single day. Here's an alleged quote by Coco Chanel:

“Nature gives you the face you have at twenty. Life shapes the face you have at thirty. But at fifty you get the face you deserve.”
That's part of what's been interesting about this. It's not just that Kavanaugh has repeatedly lied, it's that he's doing so senselessly and needlessly.

Yes. Obviously, he wasn't going to confess that he tried to rape a girl in hs, or might have done so while too drunk to remember it, but he didn't need to paint a picture of himself as a completely different person than he really was. Telling all kinds of clumsy and easily exposed lies about how much he drank, his protracted virginity, and what the stupid references on his yearbook page meant was unnecessary and did him no favors. He would have come off much better saying something along the lines of, "Look, I admit I was kind of an ass back then. I drank way too much, I didn't always treat girls and women with respect, and I found humor in some things that weren't really very funny. Today, I look back on those antics with embarrassment and wish I'd matured faster and done better."

Trouble is, I don't think he's actually grown up at all or sees anything wrong with the way he behaved back then. I think he'd be perfectly content if he could have stayed a carefree prep school football jock and party boy all his life.

by Anonymousreply 203September 29, 2018 4:35 AM

That being said, it seems only racist white idiots do that thing where if a non-white man commits violence, you obsess on the race and you blame every other member of that race (man, woman, child, makes no difference), yet you appear to treat the white criminals as individuals and don't blame yourself when you look in the mirror.

Conservative white men have destroyed this country. You can be a genuinely stupid, ignorant, scheming, cheating white man and become president. Obama never would've had that luxury.

R150 He's not a psychopath. He's a textbook sociopath with strong narcissistic tendencies. It is not unusual for these two disorders to overlap.

by Anonymousreply 208September 29, 2018 6:17 AM

Bwahaha R207. So embarrassed for you😐

by Anonymousreply 209September 29, 2018 6:20 AM

R209, you used an emoji. I mean, not that I give a shit what you think anyway, but really? An emoji? Are you a 13 yo girl?

by Anonymousreply 210September 29, 2018 6:23 AM

Assholes earn those ridiculous emojis. Only time i ever dare use them.

by Anonymousreply 211September 29, 2018 6:27 AM

R211, I already saw your other posts. You are in fact a 13yo - mentally . What a genuinely stupid, immature and pathetic idiot you are. Holy shit, I'm actually embarrassed for you. You write like a fucking incel. You're trash.

by Anonymousreply 212September 29, 2018 6:29 AM

Oh, and whatever your response will be, I won't be responding. You're really not even fit to be the shit on the bottom of someone's shoe, R211.

R203, agreed. Makes you wonder, did he think what he said was his BEST strategy? As a judge, would he have bought that self-characterization from any defendant or would he have made some obvious challenges, complete with his facial contortions to rub it in? Does he think we (the people) are stupid?

by Anonymousreply 216September 29, 2018 1:16 PM

I agree OP, however, that is not the sole explanation to his behavior while being questioned.

This is who this man truly is. He is an angry, aggressive, misogynistic homophobe. He believes himself to be above everyone, and even above the law that he has been bound to uphold. He is a liar who cannot recognize the truth, because he has spent his entire life lying to other, and primarily, to himself.

So yes, he was definitely on edge, and very likely due to alcohol withdrawals, but inherently, this IS who Brett Kavanaugh is, an angry, violent , selfish man, with or without booze.

by Anonymousreply 217September 29, 2018 1:46 PM

Why aren't they making a bigger deal that there were no actual tears? I think Susan Smith produced more moisture and Kav was clearly hydrated.

by Anonymousreply 218September 29, 2018 1:54 PM

R203 nailed it. The blustering and rambling did him no favors and is so typical of a longtime drunk.

by Anonymousreply 219September 29, 2018 2:21 PM

If you listened to any shock jock in the 80s you know all the young kids were being propagandized to hate women. How sad was that...even the girls were taught to call themselves bitches, why was that?

by Anonymousreply 220September 29, 2018 2:27 PM

The funny thing, Trump does not drink but he always sounds like the most ignorant drunk in town.

by Anonymousreply 221September 29, 2018 2:29 PM

From the time he was a teen, he obviously wanted to hurt women and be in a position where he knew he would be able to hurt women...did he always hate his mother? Maybe she used a close pin on his penis?

by Anonymousreply 222September 29, 2018 2:36 PM

I think his family, especially his wife lives in fear of him.

by Anonymousreply 223September 29, 2018 2:39 PM

Oh man, Mark Judge has an ex girlfriend who agrees with. Swetnick about Judge and other guys having sex with a very drunk girl...she could not give consent. Was it Renata?

by Anonymousreply 224September 29, 2018 2:44 PM

The wife made her bed with him and knew he was a right winger when she married him. I’m sure she’s one too, but you should not be surprised when a hateful, mean-spirited, misogynistic worldview literally slaps you in the face.

by Anonymousreply 225September 29, 2018 2:45 PM

Get these rich eastcoast white guys together and they know no bounds.

by Anonymousreply 226September 29, 2018 2:45 PM

Kavanaugh needs to back out , TODAY.

by Anonymousreply 227September 29, 2018 2:46 PM

I have no idea the point of Kavanaugh mentioning his roommates not getting along— BOTH of his roommates confirmed he was a big drinker.

by Anonymousreply 232September 29, 2018 3:45 PM

R230 - I’ve got this.

by Anonymousreply 233September 29, 2018 4:06 PM

r196, I sincerely believe those terms, Devil's Triangle, FFFFFFourth of July, Boofing, Ralph were all well researched by Klobichar, Feinstein, Blumenthal, and others, possibly even the Republicans. They forced Kavanaugh to flagrantly lie in front of the committee and the entire nation. Refer to my post at r190 for his BK's answer when asked to describe how what he referred to as a "drinking game" he called "devil's triangle" was played.

I do hope that all cases that Kavanaugh has presided over are re-ropened and reviewed. This man is obviously and blatantly NOT unbiased and impartial, and he is a prime example of why lawyers are so despised and reviled. No wonder the ABA is trying to distance their body from Kavanaugh.

As a non-American, I can say that this is the best Law&Order episode(s) ever!

by Anonymousreply 234September 29, 2018 4:11 PM

^^^ Refer to my post at r183........

Damn, I can't believe I am so involved in this latest sideshow that I can't even reference my own posts - wish my posts were somehow highlighted in the threads to make it easier to see where I post :(

I miss Charles Laughton. As old-timey southern senator, conservative but with a heart. "Something's happened."
he is a prime example of why lawyers are so despised and reviled.

Sorry, R234, this guy has never been a real lawyer. He's pretty much been a political hack. He was never, ever qualified to sit on the DC Circuit as an appellate judge. He never really practiced law, had little experience on cases, never sat as a trial judge. He has been groomed for a long time to one day sit on the Supreme Court and given politically strategic work to do all for show - all this ridiculous talk about how brilliant he is with zero evidence to back it up - to push the extreme right wing agenda. Why have they withheld most of his writings and work?

by Anonymousreply 241September 29, 2018 7:14 PM

"I like beer" = Brett Kavanaugh >................Personally I would have RIGHT THEN asked him how he felt about taking a blood ALCOHOL TEST immediately to prove how OFTEN he likes beer.

I don't know if Kavanugh's wife is a codependent or not, and/or a "stand by your man" type but it's hard to believe she hasn't been emotionally and verbally abused. Maybe not physically abused but definitely abused in other ways.

I also think they are currently separated, living apart, and she plans to file for divorce once the dust settles later this year or possibly early next year. I don't think they are living under the same roof at this point. I think they will be low-key and secretive and maintain a certain public image while also maintaining a low profile for awhile, but that the divorce will be finalized within the next few years. Kav will blame it on Dr Blasey Ford and "vicious, revengeful Democrats" because sociopaths never take responsibility for their bullshit and fuckery.

by Anonymousreply 244September 29, 2018 9:00 PM

In the daily shitstorms that are US politics, can we all agree not to forget easily the shitnado we witnessed Thursday?

by Anonymousreply 245September 29, 2018 9:02 PM

Why does the wife stand by him? Is she a deplorable? Pity? Protecting their kids?

by Anonymousreply 246September 29, 2018 9:09 PM

I'm not defending the guy, but somewhere there's a 1977 yearbook with so much bullshit written in it that if it ever became part of a background investigation I couldn't get a job collecting trash.

I haven't seen it in decades, but I remember we spent about 3 days doing nothing but passing them around in the various classes and after about 150 random people had written in it I was embarrassed to take it home for fear of my parents reading it.

by Anonymousreply 247September 29, 2018 9:18 PM

Will the FBI inquiry include exactly who Kavenaugh played the "drinking game" Devils Triangle with? And then follow up with whomever played this game and then ask them exactly how it was played.

He's a fucking liar, it's not a drinking game.

I've never heard of it. And if he lied about that he's lying about a whole bunch of things.

by Anonymousreply 248September 29, 2018 9:28 PM

Question for my fellow DL'ers...have any of you ever heard of or played the drinking game 'Devils Triangle?"

by Anonymousreply 249September 29, 2018 9:30 PM

Ok I read Devil’s Triangle is all 3 holes filled or MMF—someone also had speculated about judge and blackout Brett doing MMF ....it’s true that he stated most heterosexual guys don’t want another male in the room . However I have an ex who’s best friend was into the MMF and as far as I knew they were both straight...maybe just like the company? Touching swords is referred to in these scenarios.

by Anonymousreply 250September 29, 2018 10:13 PM

Wonder if judge does the lie detector..we know Brett won’t.

by Anonymousreply 251September 29, 2018 10:14 PM
R247: I'm not defending the guy, but somewhere there's a 1977 yearbook with so much bullshit written in it that if it ever became part of a background investigation I couldn't get a job collecting trash.

An interesting investigative tool would be for the FBI to get Kavanaugh’s friend’s yearbooks, and see what is written in all of them. What did Kavanaugh write in all the yearbooks of his classmates, that can be identified? Bet there’s gold in them.

by Anonymousreply 252September 29, 2018 10:18 PM

R208, the two terms "psychopath" and "sociopath " are not actually diagnostic terms. The DSM term is Anti-social Personality Disorder. Read The Sociopath Next Door. The Harvard psychology professor who wrote it does not distinguish between these two terms, BTW.
