Who's your choice?
I nominate Harriet Oleson to be one of DL's patron saints.

Yes! I second.

Princess Michael of Kent. She has the style and she can throw shade, which is quite rare for a Brit.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 22, 2018 3:36 PM |
I liked Nellie better.

Good one, R5. I second the nomination of Pazuzu.
Nellie's great too, R3, but I think Harriet's even more worthy of DL sainthood.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 22, 2018 4:37 PM |
Princess Michael isn't British, dear.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 22, 2018 4:50 PM |
Another vote for Harriet Oleson
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 22, 2018 4:55 PM |
Nelly's enough. What would Harriet be? The patron saint of fraulish outrage over the color of knickers? I like the OP's pic - perfect for the next round of drumpfisms response memes.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 22, 2018 4:57 PM |
Vivian is my spirit animal. Bitch.

[quote]Princess Michael isn't British, dear.
When she married into the BRF, Liz had her hairdresser past scrubbed. If it hadn't been for the damn internet, everyone would think she was British.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 22, 2018 5:05 PM |
Yes, R10. Harriet has the perfect combination of ruthlessness, nastiness, bitchiness, and outrage, all important qualities for a DL saint.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 22, 2018 5:05 PM |
Is that a pic from Little House or one she sends out for casting calls for horror films, R15? Holy shite, I think you're right!
Another vote for Harriet here.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 22, 2018 5:09 PM |
Right, R16?
I mean, she has a facial expression for just about any post on DL! She's perfect.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 22, 2018 5:12 PM |
Bitch is the queen of sneer.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 22, 2018 5:13 PM |
Great pic and great Thread OP.
My pick? Marcia Brady and her "Sure, Jan" meme tastic put-down. Works pretty much everywhere.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 22, 2018 5:16 PM |
I like that one too, R20.
Here's a Harriet gif.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 22, 2018 5:18 PM |
I never understood Nels. He wasn't a bad looking guy. Why did he marry Harriet? Was it to escape that boy that was bringing charges against him in Mankatow?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 22, 2018 5:20 PM |
Hmmm a shopgirl in Flyoverville who thinks she's the Queen of England...it's hard to top Harriet as THE embodiment of DL.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 22, 2018 5:21 PM |
Presiding over all of them is THE First Lady of Datalounge: Arlene Francis.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 22, 2018 5:21 PM |
Shopgirl!? R24, our Harriet owned that damn store and was the taste maker for the whole region.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 22, 2018 5:45 PM |
Margaret Drysdale as Chairwoman.

CoraBeth Godsey.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 22, 2018 5:51 PM |
I like Granny better for overall entertainment and laid back hillbilly fun, but Drysdale did have taste, I'll give her that. She's too much the frau frau though.
Harriet is pretentiously perfect. Margaret knows what class she's from. She never caved like her husband and kowtowed to the Clampetts.

Harriet Oleson was a great character and Katherine Macgregor played her to perfection. The character probably wouldn't have been as memorable under a lesser actress.
It's too bad she retired from acting after LHOTP. She was so memorable in that role, I'd bet she would've gotten more work afterwards. Although, probably typecast in similar roles.
She was actually about to retire from acting before she landed the Harriet role. The show (and Harriet, who was originally planned to be a recurring character) became a hit lasted nearly a decade.

Katherine "Scottie" MacGregor is still alive!!!

R31, R32 here
I can't post the link, find it yourselves.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 22, 2018 6:37 PM |
R31 Yes, she's been living in one of the actors retirement homes for a while now.
The female cast members of LHPTP managed to live longer than their male counterparts.

We imagine our patron saint is Alexis Colby when it's really Harriet Oleson.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 22, 2018 7:52 PM |
So we're all in agreement that Harriet should be named a patron saint of DL?
All those in favor, say "aye."
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 22, 2018 8:14 PM |
Perfect, R37!

And then there's Maude....
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 22, 2018 9:07 PM |
OMG. It just occurred to me that Chris Watts is the modern day Nells Oleson!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 22, 2018 9:17 PM |
R24 is correct.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 22, 2018 9:30 PM |
I submit this as evidence. It has some great Harriet moments.

Especially since the actress who portrayed her has just died.
Patron Saint of Superiority!

R47 that is really a wonderful little mini-documentary clip. She was a great character actress, and we won't see her like again.
On another note, I always got weird vibes from Michael Landon. The boys he cast on the show were always the same type. And, I got a sense he was obsessed with the kid who played Albert.
